Hi,
planning to drive down through Krabi next week and want to spend a few nights at Railay Bay. Is there anywhere nearby recommended to park my car overnight? preferably with security but i'll be happy if it's just safe.
thanks

Were you hoping for a bigger drop ?surely just a blip and not an accurate reflection of a 70% drop in Russian tourist arrivals?!
surely
Like many others
don't put words in my mouth Gunna, my quip is with TAT's endless arrival stats BS

You do not need a work permit for investing and managing your personal funds.
concur. i am always open with immigration when they ask me about income. "i have many (paper) investments and also rent out my own properties in the UK."
it's on my extension record and i've been told its no problem 3 times now

Retired people can't be tourists?
So we shouldn't have retirees in Thailand then?Exactly what I said, those retirees aren't really tourists, etc., etc.
Not on tourist VISAs.
if mandatory health checks for retirement extensions spreads retirees will be long stay tourists in all but name only
-
this is very worrying if immigration now want (even if only now at rogue offices) a health certificate for a retirement visa.
isn't the whole point of a retirement visa to retire, get old and pass on? i'd imagine most would fail a health check before getting to the end so what's going to happen?
send us home, old, in ill health and probably broke after investing our futures here?
cowardly.

lots of people are dropping ED visa for tourist now.
Personally I would not. Tourist visa is the only one they have not crackdown upon yet, and it could be coming soon, right when everyone is turning away from EdVisa and reverting to tourist
How do you think they could "crack down" on tourist visas without effecting tourists coming here on regular holidays.
It is not going to happen.
Limit entry to 4 weeks in any 1 year would seem the obvious route.
So you would propose that a tourist visa entry that is now 60 days be reduced to 4 weeks and one of them a year is allowed. And you do not think that would reduce tourism.
Or are you confusing visa exempt entries with a tourist visa. Even a 4 week restriction on those would effect tourism.
Legit tourists don't have long holidays in Thailand.
what do you class the half/halfers* as then?
*work in home country for the summer (builders/traders/self employed/etc) and relax on the beach for the winter. i've met loads of these folks on my travels

He must have known that farang cannot own land. Ignorance of the law etc......Wow... So someone sold him the land illegally and he gets nailed.
farangs cannot, companies can
-
if ubonjoe is correct the good news is next month you won't need to spend 6-7 hours at immigration.
the bad news is you'll have to leave the country to get a new ED visa and probably purchase a new course from your school.
i'd talk to your school and start planning now

"If Thailand manages to export 10 tons of rice this year, it will maintain its number-one rice exporting nation status in the ASEAN region and the world for another year."

Do yuo have a reference for this - I'm building up a collection of quotes from the Leader and his acolytes.
Please tell me you're joking."Ferangs are different, they eat bread"..Prayut
"Foreigners don't have the same laws that we do, said Gen. Prayuth. So why don't we make our country peaceful and safe? Our country is not like their countries. Thai people are not like farangs. We eat rice. They eat bread. Its totally different."
different indeed.

The increase there and at other parks was made in response to an announcement from the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department that admission fees for foreigners should be made consistent throughout the country as of Sunday.. should read as.. admission fees for people should be made consistent throughout the country. Seriously is there any other country in the world where foreigners are required to pay more to visit an attraction than residents ??
Yes Vietnam does the same.
I will not visit any place that charges me more than anyone else. If anything I would expect a senior discount below the local price. Anything over that I will not pay.
I have started withholding giving tip in all but the most extreme situations. Trying to fit in with the culture.
my wife was explaining to me that one of the reasons thais used to charge more to foreigners is that they did not understand the tipping system. back in the day they used to be confused why we would pay more (leave a tip) and assume the price was not high enough
