Those "bureaucratic visa requirements" are in place simply because a lot of Thais do not abide by the conditions of their visa, end up overstaying, working and cause other issues, which the majority of Westerners travelling to holiday in Thailand generally do not do.
Thailand is a developing country therefore screening Thais visiting Western countries is essential to prove for adequate funds and insurance that they will abide by the terms of their visa and return home.
If we are talking about reciprocal agreements then I'm sure you'd have no problem with the following in Western countries:
Police cars equipped with facial recognition cameras patrolling the streets to monitor Thais.
90 day reporting for all Thais.
Narrow pathways for Thais to obtain residency - only Thai women married to Western men eligible or men and women through permanent residency route (3 years for PR then an additional 5 to achieve citizenship, same criteria applies as in Thailand).
Quota of 50 Thais per year able to achieve permanent residency, same for citizenship.
Similar conditions that violate human rights in overcrowded cells for those detained on immigration offences.
Press conferences highlighting any and all Thais caught for crimes and visa violations on local news media.
Fingerprints and facial recognition taken of Thais on entry and exit to Western countries.
Well said.. Many Thai people ignore western immigration. I know many Thai girls that go illegal when their visa runs out. They literally have private facebook groups discussing how to get around immigration law some of them will even get pregnant once they are facing deportation with the closest man/simp they can find to avoid having to leave.

It's actually getting amusing now ???? notice the Korean national and the Chinese national don't make it into the first sentence and the Chinese one doesn't get the CASE #3 prefix ...

Chinese vaccines “don’t have very high protection rates”, said the director of the China Centers for Disease Control, Gao <deleted>, at a conference on Saturday in the southwestern city of Chengdu.
They only need to vaccinate another 41.5 million people then to have a 50% chance of herd immunity
( and that is being optimistic even if they were to get 41.5 million doses of sinovac in arms )

but it could be from migrant workers or Thais sneaking across the border

I thought they decided to blame Cambodia already? wish they would make their mind up.
If they spent as much time handing out / working on quality vaccines (not that 50% Chinese tat) as they do trying to deflect the blame away by pointing in a different direction from their CCP overlords then they would be ahead of the game by now.

Not sure about this. Yes it has been here all along but not this strain. Japanese Embassy?
Thailand was the first country outside of China to have Covid but we never heard about the origin then did we?
I think the op is quite right to point out that suddenly the origin of a particular strain is now so very important because now the finger pointing can begin .. as always

2200bht is a weeks wages for the working class Thai no wonder such low numbers.

Never forget MCOT is working for China International broadcasting also never forget how much the Chinese cried racism when anyone called it the China or Wuhan virus.
Also Britain has just condemned the Chinese genocide...
It's not hard to see what is going on when you put the pieces together.

Just in case anyone is in any doubt about where this narrative is coming from:
"MCOT is also working with the giant Chinese media company, China International Broadcasting"
"Also Sanook is owned by Tencent which is also Chinese media"
It's pretty obvious where this is going if you ask me...

"British variant" ? Interesting that the Thai media has never, ever before mentioned the origins of coronavirus (China) in fact if you ask a Thai in the street where it came originally throughout this pandemic a vast majority of them haven't a clue.
Finally looks like Thailand has found what it has wanted all along which is a western country to point the finger at...
Before that there was no anti western narrative for them to work with now they got it watch them milk this to death.
Never forget what we saw at the beginning of all this here are a couple of screenshots from the beginning of covid back in feb / march 2020 taken from Thaivisa.

It's shocking that they don't seem to understand how vaccines work. Can someone explain to me what use it is to vaccinate people that have already had close contact with people in the affected area? ????♂️

Couldnt you move away from the "Thai" "Thai apologist" angle and just see this as a murder , without having to mention peoples nationalities .
Exactly if this guy were influenced by culture it would be ours as he spends most of his time in Europe and his gf is farrang so there goes a lot of other theories and presumptions in this thread about the guy from people that have no idea.

Do you understand what "premediated" means, I don't think the peeing in a drain is tantamount to a premediated murder.
I think what he means is the fact that a knife was picked up.
For the record the guy has been charged with 1st degree murder and is in klong prem prison now. So there goes all the theories about all thais get away with a 500bht fine etc
As ive said above i dont condone what's happened but i think Leo may have got caught by accident this is based on my knowledge of the scene and the people involved the scene is hugely important because if you know how its laid out you would know a lot more about how it likely went down and also why he was taking a pee there the guesthouse only has one toilet for the bar users to use.
Also you would have to have been here for a while to understand why telling a thai to stop pissing is a lot more embarrassing for the thai than it would be for us especially in front of an open plan bar with your girlfriend and all your friends listening.

What a load of hogwash above. 3 observations: 1. Yes the Frenchman should have said nothing. 2. There are too many Thai apologist saps around here. 3. There are too many whacked out Thai males in this country.
Because you know it all right ? Without knowing anything at all.
1 observation you are making sweeping assumptions about people you have no idea about.
I have said i dont condone what happened but in my opinion there has to be more to it this is based on knowledge of the people involved the location and a lot of other factors.
Don't bother replying me i cant stand ignorance.

foreigners should learn to respect other people pissing peacefully, why the heck Frenchman started to abuse Thai man? doing piss is human rights and physiology
Exactly this is where culture comes into it also I know the arrangement at flapping duck there is a high chance the toilet was busy and knowing the guy involved I imagine he just popped out for a pee because the main toilet was busy he is a very quiet humble guy he speaks perfect English and he is an absolute gentleman the first french guy must have been an absolute <deleted>.
All the Thai's at flapping duck is mourning Leo they are even doing a ceremony today they are very upset I know a lot of them personally.
This is a tragic accident I think poor Leo must of got in front of a lunatic french guy and got pushed into the blade of an ultimately scared Thai.

I guess you did not know him very well.He did what he did nice guy or not. What could be his exuse?Lost face?
I did not say that I know him well half heatedly. This man is truly my friend and as I said he is not what a lot of people on here think.
I have nothing to gain by lying here and quite frankly I don't care if you believe me but I have to let it be known this guy is not a bad guy.
I have to admit when I first read this story I had preconceived idea about the kind of man that would do something like this 5 days later I have now learned that it was someone I know well and when I say he is a nice guy I mean that this guy spends his spare time taking pictures of kittens and carving faces of his girlfriend into pieces of wood he is a genuinely lovely calm guy. One of the most chilled guys I have ever met.
I can only speculate as to what really happened that night as I was not there however I have spent many hours on many an evening at flapping duck with this man and his friends they are all very good people.
I can only suspect that something very unusual must of happened that night I suspect that the first french man must have been an absolute idiot to provoke this kind of response also he must have been very aggressive to the point where my friend feared for his life.
After much pondering I can only speculate that poor Leo must have fallen into the blade during some kind of fracas provoked by the first french guy as this is the only situation I can imagine.
RIP Leo.

Just to add that I just found out that the Thai guy that did this is a close friend that I have known for nearly 10 years I am shocked as he is a really nice guy there has to be more to this.
A lot of assumptions being made here about the guy are wrong.
I'm not defending what he did but I really know this guy well and he is not what you would think in the slightest.
I'm in shock any questions go ahead? I know this guy very well indeed.
