  1. I'm thinking about buying one.

They are cheap (from 38,000 Baht) and it could be funny to have one. I'm only going to use it on our private land (and go to the Minimart).

I remember a post saying, they are Ok, but you have to inspect them completely; and e.g. tighten all the nuts and bolts, because their QC is almost non existing.

So; does anyone else have any experience with the Chinese ATV's?

  2. What kind of exhaust did you have put on? Stock exhaust is quietest, assuming the fit is ok. Or is it just the exhaust pipe vibrating as you say? I'd be inclined to return it to the shop and show them the problem

For quiet aftermarket, the next quietest would be a twin loop exhaust.

    http://www.jhpusa.com/store/pc/catalog/mugen/mugen.exh.twinloop_d.jpg

I have one on my honda and it's quiet below 4000 rpm. The smaller the exhaust, the louder it will be, especially something knocked up by a local shop.

I had one of the mufflers under the car replaced and I think they used very small type pipe hangers.

I think the noise is due to vibration from the exhaust pipe.

The small shop does not have a lift, so in all cases, I will go to my tire shop first, so I can look at it.

  3. Thank you Beetlejuice; but that thread is mostly about "just give up" and you can't get one.

I have mine at the SCB Branch on Hang Dong road. From Airport Plaza it's about 1 km, on the left side, 500 m before Lotus.

The last time I was there (1/2 year ago), they just put up a new column of safety boxes.

    The staff speaks reasonably English.

  4. I got a box 15 years ago with SCB here in Chiang Mai (without problems) and pay 600 Baht every year for it.

But; as I understand, it is a lot more difficult now. You have to deposit "some" millions on a fixed account and/or pay deposit for the box and/or make a Life Insurance with the Bank etc. Sounds very difficult.

That's also why I keep my P.O. Box, even though they increased the yearly fee from 250 Baht to 500 Baht.

When you get it; don't give it up!.

  5. Just a question:

On my NV the temperature indicator is very slow to rise. It takes about 8-10 minutes after cold start before it's up to 1/4 of the scale.

Do yours have the same situation?; or it might be the water flow regulator that's open always.

It's the same with or without aircon on.

Mine the same. Even put a new one in to see - no difference.

Even pulling the hills out of Nan it never reached above 1/2 way.

A mechanical temp gauge and T on my list when back in N. America

I guess, we should be happy, that the cooling system works so good.

When I bought my NV 3 years ago, I had problem with the aircon not cooling enough.

I found out that one of the fans was blowing air out instead of in.

I just switched the wires and it was fine.

Half a year after, I found out (by coincidence), that the engine on other fan was broken; but the cooling system worked fine!.

So, it really is over dimensioned.

I have installed an external Water Temperature Gauge on my Nissan NV.

As the attached picture show; the cooling system works perfect. It's only the internal meter that's lazy!.

The last situation could only be achieved with the car at a standstill and aircon off. The fans will kick in at 95 degrees and bring the temperature down to 90.

So; my mind is put at rest!.

  6. Update:

This morning about 08:30 Honda Mondial Assistance came to pick up the car and bring it to AV Honda Cars in Surin. In the late afternoon they called and said they had checked all the wiring, there was nothing wrong, also the ground cable was on its place. They said they have to replace the "distart', dunno what exactly this is, the starter I guess, about 8'000+ Baht. At the same time they did a "recall" for free, they replaced the airbags. They have to order the piece from BKK, so the car would be ready on Friday. Since I'm trading in the SET every weekday, we will go and pick the car up on Saturday morning. I must say in closing, that this car has never cost us much on repairs, since I did all the services with Honda only and always on time. They will also do the 240'000 km service this week.

Hello, I tried to find some helps for my wife honda city.

Yesterday the electrical part of the car died. This morning honda told me that they have to change alternator (if I understand well), price 9000 baht, but they need 2 weeks to receive it, and maybe could not be enough to change it for working again.

Does someone know where I can find new and/or used car part ? I'd like to save money and get soon back the car. (I live in Chonburi city..)

And what do you think about a alternator regenerated ? What do you think about the price ?

    Thanks for any helps....

That is a very high price.

Find an "Air" car shop; they refill "freon" on car aircon systems and normally also have alternators and starters or they can renovate them.

Alternators are made by very few companies eg. Bosch and are (more or less) the same on many cars.

I would think the price will be 4,000 Baht.

  7. I have this one on my car connected to an USB plug, and working well. I got it in Lazada for about 1200thb 6 months ago. Was very useful in small accident I had last month.

I liked this model because can be used like a normal video and photo camera and have a very good auto zoom and definition, but is not good for night use. I think the one with good night image are costing over 4000thb.

If I will buy one again, I will get the one with 2 lenses for about 1800 thb in Lazada....The one under, that also have black box and GPS.]

The cable to connect to an USB jack for power is not include on the package. It is a short one but is for unload the videos to a computer, do not work to powered it. You will need to buy one, for about 200thb.

Is it possible to change language to English on Lazada?; and how?

  8. I believe the problem is integration.

I've seen (in Isan); when a Thai wife with her Falang husband come home to build a house on her land and they totally overdo it.

You can build a big fancy house in eg. Phuket without any problems, but if you do it a small village in Isan, you are bound to have problems. You will not get any respects from the locals; but actually the opposite. They see your big house and 1-3 cars as an insult to them. They don't understand, that you might have worked hard, to get the money you have.

They accept (and respect)influential people in the village that have big houses, because they've "earned it"!?.

So; when in Rome, do as the Romans.

You would not build a big house in a poor neighbourhood in your home country!?.

It's the same with or without aircon on.

Have you flushed and changed all the coolant ?

No; but it might be a good idea, because the water is very dirty.

Maybe both the regulator and sensor have a layer of dirt/rust.

  11. Code GA16,maybe it's still got the origional plugs incool.png a new set with the correct gap might help along with new air filter.

The engine looks fairly well kept so I would think sparks are OK, but will have a look for carbon deposits etc.

At the moment I am finding the temperature guage is hardly budging even after being stuck in traffic. It moves past the resting place but only about 1/8th of the full range. Trying to find where the sensor is and check connection. With the heat here in BKK I doubt its a cool engine caused by thermostat not opening. That engine was hot!

Might also check the timing with a light gun and retard / advance timing via the distributor, but just want to ensure the lag I experience when changing gear is not cause I am so used to injection engines which I guess are more responsive. With no rev counter it is hard to know if shifting too early too (pre 3000RPM).

Temp sensor is located right hand side rear ,just behind distributor, thermostat is opposite side.

Sounds like ignition timing ,as tuned right these really get up and go.

These engines were in the Nissan Sentra before the Sentra went injected.

Thank you for the information about the location of the Temp sensor. I have the same situation with the temperature gauge only goes up a little. However; when the engine gets hot, it moves up to about 60% of the range and the fans start, so I guess it works OK. It's just irritating, so I want to install an external temperature gauge. But; if I remove the original sensor (and cable), will the fans still start when needed?. (My testing is done without the aircon on.)

  12. I bought one of then double socket extentions and when i plug my camera into it the

camera tells me that i have no memory card installed, plug it back into the normal

lighter socket and it works ok...just some thing to be aware of.

    Have a Nice Day.

Maybe there is a bad connection in the unit, so it does not give 12V. Open it and check the wires and soldering.
