  1. I agree with 'ronthai'. The Aircon mechanic must have "touched" some wires, he shouldn't have; so the car-computer went crazy.

I am impressed about your mileage. My wife's 2003 Honda Jazz started to develop problems last year at 140,000 km.

First the Aircon and then repeating problems with the CVT gearbox. The engine also started to sounds old.

We decided to sell it and buy a new car.

  2. I think it's difficult to get one that cost MORE than 150,000 Baht.

Mine is from 2000, manual gear, 150,000 km. I bought it 3 years ago for 130,000 Baht.

It drives very good; almost like a sports car. It not silent in the cabin, but you just turn the stereo up.

Please note that there are no ABS, ESP/ESC or Airbag. You are completely on your own; like the good old days.

  3. That 'Summit Racing' Shop is really impressive. My NV engine type is GA16DNE (1.6L 1597cc).

If that is the same as yours, I like to know the part numbers of the distributor cap and rotor, you bought.

There are multiple choices, but maybe it's just best to buy the most expensive!?.

Same engine as mine. Manufacturer / part numbers follow :

    Dist. Cap - Intermotor JH239

    Rotor - Intermotor JR178

I ordered Standard parts, this is what came.

In small lettering on the box, below Made in China in 3 languages, is the Standard company name.

Thank you very much for the information.

I have today ordered the same parts. I'm going to need it sooner or later.

Made in China, shipped to US and then to Thailand. Sounds normal!.

What about the OP; do you have any plan?.

  4. Try the Nissan shop on Mahidol Rd. (near Airport Plaza).

I've had my Nissan NV serviced and repaired there for the last 3 years.

They just call Bangkok for spare parts and they arrive a week after.

Never had a problem to get spare parts.

The shop on Lampoon Rd. must be very unservice minded.

I got spark plug wires from them last year. They could not supply a distributor cap or rotor - had to source them from Summit Racing in the USA.

Spent just about a whole day on the PCX going to spare parts stores - no one had them.

  5. The basic insurance, called government compulsory insurance, does not cover any mechanical damage (either side). Only limited hospital insurance for the vehicle occupants in your car. Best get additional insurance, especially the 200K bail cover, will save you spending time in the police cell after any serious accident.

Is it really correct, that it not cover damage to the other persons car/motorbike?.

I have an old car and only the compulsory insurance. It's no problem with damage to my car; but for sure, if I have to pay for damage to other car. Assuming it's my fault; which is very unlikely!, but possible.

Well, look at the AAInsuranceBroker's list. I see nothing about damage to vehicles. Only people damage.

I like to say "Thank You" for the "Wake Up Call".

I have today made an Insurance that, most importantly, covers damage to 3. persons car/property up to 1 million.

The price was only 5,200 Baht.

  7. The only real issue is the 100-meter proximity of villagers to the plant. But without seeing the plant layout, the 100 meters might be the distance to the plant property boundary and not to the actual physical plant location. If there was to be say a 200-meter setback of the plant from the boundary, the proximity may not be a real issue.

Otherwise, LNG in gas form is lighter than air, easily dispersed with breezes. It is difficult to ignite in an open atmosphere, and it is environmentally friendly. Its vehicular transportation is as safe and dependable as gasoline-fueled cars, if not more so. Otherwise it might be transmitted through a buried pipeline. The government should focus on educating the public.

LPG is heavier than air. NGV is lighter than air.

  8. Haha, good morning to you too. Actually there's nothing self-righteous in my advice. I don't refer to myself at all. Perhaps you would like to infer that my underlying attitude, if not my particular words, is self-righteous. That's your choice, but my intention was straightforward: to suggest that someone who giddily, breathlessly, boasts to a collection of complete strangers that he succeeded in buying two bottles and one can of beer, then capped this domestic triumph by guzzling a can in situ, might have a problematic relationship with alcohol. A man with a drinking problem usually needs it pointed out to them, irrespective of the chorus cheering the demise of his liver.

Now, as to your calling me a jerk, telling me to get a life, I am not offended. We could all spend a whole days dreaming up schoolyard insults, and a web forum makes it easy. So easy that it can be hard to resist. One might pop off an insult on the spot, when the better course is to discretely put those thoughts on ice and chill.

It was just a funny story. Take it or leave (ignore) it!.

  9. Ours goes out intermittently but never for a week at a time. We live near Kad Suan Kaew. Have back-up service with one of those AIS dongle thingies we can plug into a computer. Doesn't give us whole-house wifi, but helps "in an emergency". Also, a Smart Phone can be configured to be a "Hot Spot". Have used that in a pinch, also, but it's slow. I understand most Smart Phones have this capability now.

I've found the True internet call center to be surprisingly helpful and their English very good. Usually when I call, some sort of reconfiguration of the wifi is needed.

I agree; and other times, I've had problems, they have solved it the same day or the day after.

This time it must have been a "major" problem.

PS! I also survived with an AIS dongle.

  10. My True Internet has been down for almost a week now.

I've called True 3 times and every time they give different explanations e.g.. improvement of system, "accident" and promise it will work again soon.

Does anyone else have this problem and/or know something about it?.

I live close to Airport Plaza and maybe it's only that area, that has problem.

  11. Big C on the super highway ( rd 11) sell smoked hock joints.I am sure if you cooked them down in boiling water and let them cool.Put them in a fridge so when they are cold you can skim all the fat off and use the lovely meat in your soup. They sell them loose right by the meat counter. Pea and ham soup.....yum yum!

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

It's just the season for such a luxury. I like to boil up the bones with meat on, and that gives extra flavour.

Where would I find the German restaurant?

    See this and drool!!

Thank you for the GPS Coordinates. Before I've given up to find it.

Do he also make Salami?. I'm tired of the TGM Salami. Dry and no taste.

  12. I just came back from the office. My automobile license is expired, more than 1 year and less than 3 years. You have to start again from the beginning. Medical certificate IS required. You have to do the 4 hour training session again. Go back before 9 AM, and plan to spend most of the day there. I just returned to Thailand on a 3 entry tourist visa, only a 1 year license is available.

Too bad; but thank you for the warning. Good to know.

  13. Minced beef at Makro Hang Dong 290 THB today looked very lean.

Pork mince looked awful .. from very old boars (too dark) and way too much fat even in the premium mix.

OK; I will try Makro. I have only seen frozen minced beef there before.

  14. I used to be happy with the ground beef from Rimping Supermarket; but now they found a new trick. Instead of increasing the price (again), they increased the fat content, so it's getting a little bit to much.

Today I went to Tops Supermarket and the ground beef there looked even worse. Almost white in colour.

So; does anyone know where to get good ground beef?
