What were the main differences between a cold and your covid?

Did you have a 49 baht test to confirm it was colvid?

Also, did you have a vaccination before catching it?

    Thanks in advance.

Main differences - extreme lethargy, loss of appetite, fever, diarrhea  - just wanted to be in bed for first 5 days. Mettalic sort of taste in mouth that lasted for about 3 weeks to a month. No cough till day 12 when a nagging dry cough developed. Body felt like when you withdraw from heavy use of prescription pain killers. I had my 3rd booster, 5th vaccine 3 weeks prior to getting covid. Confirmed with RAT test.

Because everyone in china wore masks and still got it, my theory is that covid can get in through cracks in the doors and windows - maybe even through the aircon!

Therefore it probably makes sense to find out if you've got a normal cold or the covid - no one wants to die after all.

Having said that,  I'm not thrilled about having to pay 49 baht to find out if it's a cold or the covid

Be thankful you don't live in Australia where you would pay 180 baht for the test.

I've read the whole article and can't find the panic mongering. There is some information about an increase in covid hospitalizations, a suggestion that people may wish to have a booster and an assurance that it is not a strain on hospitals. Why do you think the article will cause panic?

For what it's worth, the covid infection rate rapidly increased in Australia in the last weeks too. Virtually no one wears masks there.

I suppose if you have a weak immune system and are old, you would handle it worse than most, that said, I know guys in their 70's who had the 2nd strain and struggled, but this one is mild, having had it twice.

But like I said, immune system and age can effect people differently, like the flu/cold and now Covid, but let's not forget Pneumonia, etc etc etc.

I have a strong immune system and am 69 - never used to get colds or flu. Also know of two people significantly older who suffered only very mild symptoms. The variant you catch should determine the major part of covid's severity.

My father was sick...did not need the doc, but it needed a few weeks till he was 100% the same and not tired all the time.
He wasn't sick with anything else the last 30 years....so it had more power than every other thing the last 30 years.

I had a similar experience 6 weeks ago - 12 days I spent indoors, 6 of them feeling very sorry for myself. I am 69, but have had 5 vaccines, the latest booster only 3 weeks before getting covid in Australia. Can't say I 'felt 100%' again for a month or so.

Absolute rubbish... Drugs in their various forms are the cornerstone of many societies...

Good old English Pub anyone ???

But, I think you mean ‘hardcore’ drugs which of course can be extremely damaging to society...

And then, if so, you really don't know much about drugs... recreational drugs such as ecstasy are hardly the bane of society, rather the contrary in fact.

I’ve never taken ecstasy... but throughout my life have been surrounded by people who have, I’ve never witnessed it causing a problem (other than conflicts between dealers in some bars / clubs etc).

I took it frequently when I lived in Bangkok in the first half of the 90's. It was excellent stuff smuggled in from Europe, but there were also high quality locally made capsules. It was a wonderful drug, so much so, I had to leave the country to get away from it. I have never had it since. But I wouldn.t begrudge this guy his 2 pills.

I think it's quite widely known how crude and harsh Thai jails can be.To then proceed with ANY type of illegal substance then you get exactly what you deserve.

    Nationality is irrelevant.

No sympathy and ignorance is no defence. (imho)

So two ecstasy tablets is worth 10 months (so far) jail where even Thais would be unlikely to suffer under such a harsh penalty?!

Is this still a thing? 6 months ago I stopped Covid testing for every sniffle or sore throat I got.

I have just had covid in Australia and it was horrible - lasted 12 days and was a whole body experience, not just a sniffle, that left me utterly drained of energy and bed bound.  Perhaps the Thai version is less nasty. Makes me wary of visiting Thailand for a month in July for fear of catching it on the flight there or just before returning. Never got a sore throat and an irritating dry cough only really surfaced around day 9 and has not gone away. 700 cases doesn't seem many for a city the size of Bangkok, but as you say, many probably don't test or report the result. I didn't even report mine here.

Most people DID NOT splash me. The few who did so, carried it out in a considered way. A spray like rain, aiming for the torso instead of the head… I respect that behaviour and appreciated their consideration.

Not so sure there will be a next time or that Mustafa would want a next time, given he certainly didn't like this time.
