  1. 2023 is very optimistic. In fact, I doubt tourist numbers will return to 2019 levels in my lifetime.
  2. My son in the US suffers with Crohn's. I truly sympathize. Sadly, immigration here is not very adaptive or sympathetic, which is why the agent is so important sometimes.
  3. He is simply practicing for the gauntlet, and being able to survive riding through a hail of bullets.
  4. Seriously doubt that this requirement will happen in the next few weeks. However, if it does, you simply need to find a well-connected agent that can explain your special circumstance, and find some means of dealing with it. No need to worry for this year's extension, in my opinion.
  5. Indeed. Exactly like the "test charge" many online sites use to ensure they can charge your card later for a subscription service. Then the charge is reversed later. Possibly a bug at one of those outfits? Have you subscribed to anything online lately?
  6. Perfect example of precisely how the RTP, government, and elite, view the average Thai person.
  7. I am trying not to "estimate" anything. I am just a guy on the sidelines. But it appears to me that those in charge have tunnel vision, and the debate on the best approach to handling this pandemic is not as balanced as it should be. What we all want is the optimal approach to the problem.
  8. I see. So how many mRNA vaccines were deployed prior to COVID-19, or for that matter, approved by the FDA? Thought so.
  9. And what about those making reasonable arguments as to why this vaccine is debatable. Their voices are muted, while the pro-vaccine message is amplified. The debate has not been balanced by any measure. It would be more understandable if this virus was on the level of ebola, but it is not. Maybe if governments spent as much time, effort, and money on expanding the healthcare system to be capable of handling the "increased load", as they do pushing the vaccines to those not at exceptional risk, we could end this nonsense of lockdowns and have a more balanced approach to the pandemic overall. Thankfully, it appears that new treatments, such as the new Merck pill, will help to alleviate the pressure on the healthcare system and allow a less radical approach to the problem.
  10. Indeed. Tired of the "anti-vax" label. People who are a bit dubious of a vaccine technology that failed to garner FDA approval for 15 years, but it suddenly "safe", are simply being prudent. I have had many "traditional" vaccines in my life, but this new technology is something for which I have a "wait and see" approach. Maybe those blindly lining up for the vaccines should be labeled "anti-critical-thinkers".
  11. Talented pointer. With the face paint camouflage skill, it is difficult to believe the BIB were able to track him down.
  12. Money well spent. Thank goodness they didn't waste it on something frivolous, like, I don't know, vaccines?
  13. Well, that is not "getting back to normal" is it? At some point, this nonsense will pass.
  14. It is not a hummingbird, but I forget which bird it is. Seen them numerous times thinking they were hummingbirds, only to be corrected by a local. Someone will be along shortly to properly identify them.
  15. So many people think sushi is the bee's knees. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. And I genuinely love Thai food, and get frequent requests from the gf to cook for her. Interestingly, the Thai gf begs me to make my Fettuccini in Olive Oil on a regular basis. I genuinely like all of the food in your list of "foods far better than Thai" with the exception of "UK", which I find to be the world's most disappointing menu.
  16. Indeed. Free markets and greed is its own volatile mix. But I will take that any day over the CCP.
  17. Evergrande is the caricature of a property bubble about to go pear shaped. A power grid so stressed that blackouts are common place now, and even factories are shuttered for days each week. An attack on the tech sector that has caused four companies to lose $250B USD in market value. And now we hear that Xi is selling strategic oil reserves to "stabilize prices" (yeah, nah). The seams are starting to fray, as is inevitable with any communist experiment. Thailand seems to be the kid who always kissed up to the popular kid on the playground, and is about to find itself without any friends.
  18. Correct. Desired results achieved. The people are subverted and nonsense prevails.
