Omise is used by several of our clients. They provide WordPress and other plugins to make integration easy. The only downside with Omise is that they will withhold 7% VAT to ensure taxes are paid, which is fine if you are a Thai company dealing with Thai clients. For one of our clients, this was a deal breaker, because most of their clients were in the US and the VAT does not apply. https://www.omise.co/

I rented a safe deposit box from Safe Deposit Box BKK: http://www.safedepositboxbangkok.com/ Very affordable, and I was very happy with the service. When I first went to check it out, there was a foreigner there who was asking if he could also provide his Thai GF with access to his box. The owner, who is a woman from Brazil (I believe) was adamant - "NO! Only you can have access to your box!". I signed up immediately. They use fingerprint biometrics with a passcode to enter the room, and a key to access the box. It is located in Silom directly across from Bangkok Christian Hospital.

That pretty much must assume that tourism will return to prior levels, which it will not. -

My employee used a box provided by True. The sim went in the box, and the box acted like a WiFi router. The speed was pretty good (here in BKK). He was able to watch NetFlix with only occasional buffering pauses. The data plan was a little expensive, but not terrible. A reasonable solution for a remote location, as long as the speed is decent and the plan not too expensive.

Lived in BKK on 45K per month for several years no problem. That was not in any way austere, just being sensible. The most critical thing is not paying foreigner prices for rent. Then minimizing your trips to expensive restaurants and bars, and keeping the entertainment costs within budget. Right now, you could get a sweet first year of rent (likely to go up next year). Inflation would be my concern, mostly with regards to rent.

And how many people died today with insurance? The real risk is not death. The real risk is having a lifetime of savings wiped out by a serious illness.

Have flown both EVA and JAL and both are excellent. I would happily fly either airline again. I prefer EVA slightly more, only because I like the airport in Taiwan a little more than the airport in Japan for layovers. Given the price difference I would have no problem recommending JAL.

Further research is showing that those vaccinated are demonstrating heavy viral loads while not exhibiting symptoms. These people are unknowingly becoming super spreaders of the virus. After one year, we know much more than before. We know the highest risk groups. It seems we should be focused on those groups, and allowing the rest of the population to get back to normal life. Those wishing to be vaccinated have no problem. Those wishing not to be vaccinated should not be forced. We should cease this exercise of making COVID-19 seem like Ebola to the general population.
