However, that 10 baht rise in price on one item across the board tends to be an increase that will be felt by many people, including the Thai midddle and lower class as well as those migrants living on 9 to 10k a month. My GF handed a Lao Family who showed up at the Temple where she was cutting hair for free 1k Thb after she finished the two children's hair cuts as well as the mother, sad to see folks in such need. We have and still do take food items as well as basic necessities to a few families down a side Soi near us, just as we have done for the past 2 years. It is why we buy in Bulk at Makro and share what we can. The Hi-So Thai folks will never feel the pain that those below them feel.

Rice to rise 30 Baht a kilo, families at Makro yesterday were loading up on the large 25kg bags, We bought 2 5kg bags as it was cheaper than a 10kg bag of what we use, had a special on it. 10Kg will last us many months as we only make a cup and a half of the bagged rice every other day. What surprised me was how much Bacon, Salami, and pepperoni have gone up in price. Wonder when the Pizzeria's will be raising their menu Items. The lady on the corner who sells Khao Mon Gai on the corner near us raised her prices 10 baht per order as many of the other street stands have raised there's as well. Every morning on TNN they have a business section regarding food prices, including meats, veggies and fruits, they show what it was yesterday and what it is today, as well as what the Market prices are to be on 1 July. My kids in the US have said that their food prices are up almost 15%.

We went and did our monthly shopping yesterday to restock the pantry, the refrigerator and the freezer. Same exact items with no difference between last month and this month and the bill was a little over 2k Thb more. Rice prices are up, prices on international items are up, Meat prices up, and then so are prices on other necessities. In essence I am still ahead of the inflation with the USD to THB exchange rates. Should the dollar fall back into the 31 range then I would be loosing to inflation. Since the beginning of the year the increase has risen to a lttle over 3k from what we spent. Power prices have increased for electricity, and then fuel costs for driving. The Thai public must be having a hell of a time and so must the expats who live on there bottom dollars/euros, or such.....

mask vs no mask - feeling naked vs feeling awkward
ThailandRyan replied to stoner's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
????, dream a little dream and do a little jig, all you see is lipstick on the pig. I'll bet you think there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as well. Covid is still around and always will be, do we need to be scared or in fear No we dont, but wearing a mask if your sick to protect others is the right thing to do, but then you could not care if someone came up and coughed in your face or sneezed into their hands before shaking yours.....hope you live long and prosper as Spock would say. -

Keep beating the Bongo and maybe you will see there is more to life then you getting wrapped around the axels like you are. Being steadfast in your beliefs instead of meeting in the middle will get you very far in life...carry on...... -

You need another Bong hit my friend. People will always wear masks, just not doing it because they were told to and they see a need to save others from getting the virus's they may be carrying when they go out. However, I guess you would not care if the server bringing your food to you was hacking and coughing as they prepared your food while not wearing a mask or even gloves on their hands. No fear in my life or being scared, its called doing the right thing and understanding other peoples personal rights to do what they want and not criticize them for doing that. Waiting on your next preaching filled post..... You will still be asked to leave many places if you do not have a mask on as the lifted mandate does not yet include all areas, and when you get told to mask or leave you will once again rant on about how they are loosing your business, when in fact had you just had one in your pocket you could have put it on and enjoyed, while removing it to eat your food, drink your beer and enjoy the entertainment, unless in a school or other venue where it is still required. Sure the rest of the world, well the majority are going maskless, but then this is Thailand.....enjoy. -

Never will be over, like the Flu, Chicken Pox, Measles etc....or the common cold but people still get vaccinated and wear mask if they are ill. Better yet on bad air quality days people also wear masks, grow up and learn to accept it. Your belief system is broken. Or it is that yjdgaf. -

No fear anywhere in my post. You expect mask wearing to dissappear and everyone to be allowed into wherever, sorry my friend you need to do the research and see what is allowed and what is not by the lifting of the mandate. Cry me a river when you are told mask or go. It's up to the business, the type of location and it is what it is. Read the Gazzette. -

Your just in denial, so spend your money elsewhere. I am sure your miniscule amount you would spend is of little concern to them and they feel safety is more important to their employees. You'll never win with your performance. -

Same one,she wanted a true multi millionaire.....All good I lost barely anything in the end. So all good. Not dumped per se, but cheated on and so I divorced her setting her free.

So for a proper lady how many millions are you willing to give them to stay with you, my answer in my post showed how I felt about that. Absolutely Zero, I paid no SinSod when I married my now Thai Ex-wife, lasted 10 years and fathered 1 child, who I adore and take care of and she is in the US now. I do not play the BS games that many do and is what your comment went on about. Everyone has made a mistake or so in their lives, but playing Captain Save a HO or a Bail me out of Issan Knight is not the norm with the friends I have here in the country. A relationship goes both ways and is a 50/50 exchange of work between the parties, not 100/0, 75/25. Compatibility does not always occur.
