  1. Just stop calling it a lockdown! It isn't. It is just a series of sensible safeguarding measures to reduce the spread of a highly infectious disease in a community notorious for ignoring officialdom and it's working. And it could help sort out the gig economy which allows that section of the community that extracts inordinate profit and then dumps their workforce at the first sign of a problem.

  2. Our village recently had PWA supply installed. Made mess of roads installing overly large pipes and kit. We all bought meters from PWA on basis overall the metred cost would be lower than previously charged for a village supply by pumped well topped up by tanker when it ran low. Suprise suprise when the first PWA bills came in they were higher than the village were charging probably because the PWA were pumping a lot of air with their water! Luckily the sceptics amongst had not disconnected our village supplies so are able to switch back especially as those who cut off their village supplies are now getting spasmodic supplies from PWA. Expect a lot of reconnections to the village supply which is still topped up by tanker all for a marginally lower cost than PWA.

  3. You will need a tax code for the amount over 12500 which will be at 20pc. In my case they deduct from a private pension by sending them my tax code. Married couple transfer has been cancelled from April for no good reason as it is offset against tax credits which I cannot claim.

  4. If they are concerned about a concentration of infections in W Pattaya they should monitor those coming out NOT in. Pattaya was always going to be a hotspot due to high density living and social mingling. Monitoring those going in must be to prevent an influx of infected Thais initially for Songran and subsequently for Thais who think lockdown is a public holiday for group drinking and eating. I think darksiders are well of out of it.

  5. Gullies need to be opened up to allow faster run off as otherwise they overflow, cracked tiles should be filled, pitch closers should be reset. Silicone coloured fillers also help. My view is that roof foil underliners prevent ventilation and divert leaks making it difficult to locate them.

  6. This will work as well as the Pattaya road blocks! If Thais stockpile they won't be able to resist drinking it all in one go with as many friends as they can! Very annoying to be locked down because of Thais inability to control themselves. Next it will be food which Thais cannot resist congregating at hourly intervals to consume then the Hunger Games will start!

  7. Pretty obvious they are implementing in time for Sonkran to stop the influx of revellers and all bypass crossings will be blocked off except those with checkpoints ensuring complete grid lock. Can't see locals putting up with it for long and can't see expats queuing for hours on the way to Immigration and then queuing for hours at Immigration!

  8. Bangkok does not have a live exotic animal market at which animals are slaughtered as in Wuhan. They do have exotic pets markets. All the world's Covid 19 hotspots stem from universally well traveled Chinese after Covid 19 was discovered in Wuhan in November and spread apparently unnoticed for 2/3 months before the Chinese owned up. The Chinese Tourist and expat communities  in Thailand are still preferring to stay here rather than risk China.

  9. 90 day on line with Chrome works fine everytime- just need to be careful and use the drop-down menus all the time. Predictive text calls up your last entry accurately as well as checking the whole data against the last successful entry. Agree that the elderly mob in Jomtien Immigration is an unnecessary risk for IO and us and Jomtien should get their ap working properly so documentation can be pre-approved before attendance. Because of the risk I might be tempted to use an agent just to reduce my risk!
