  1. Absolute nonsense!

Even assuming that half of the people in Thailand are NOT on O-A Visas and that it's closer to 380k, 9 hospital visits per annum by everyone of those 380k is incorrect. I make 3 a year at a cost of 2200baht per visit all paid for in cash. These Hospitals have teams of people whose jobs consist of getting in the cash, treatment being dependent on payment.

Then apparently 81k hospital visits are running up unpaid bills of 3700 baht per visit implying that none of the bills are paid. However the figures quoted show 448 baht per unpaid bill!

    The figures are complete nonsense.

I suspect these figures are for the entire population of Thailand and the reference to O-A is incorrect and the debt figures quoted relate entirely to Thailand's itinerant workforce from adjacent Countries or Tourists. Problem easily solved by levying a 500 baht surcharge on all foreign workers or even easier -Tourists!

No way can 380k OA visa holders be responsible for unpaid health bills of half of the population of Thailand especially as Thais have a 30baht free health scheme

Just to let everyone know Transferwise will route all transfers through Bangkok Bank showing up as an International Transfer in your BB bank book and will print you out a Credit Advice at your own branch showing the routing. You just have to ask them.

you send them an email each time to use local partner Bangkok Bank?

You can ask them to set up a recipient tagged as always routed via BB to your BB account and then just use that recipient. Then you don't need to email each time.

  3. I have asked the UK Embassy many times what documentation Thai Immigration want to replace Income Letters pointing out that in the past I have provided Tax Bank Account and FX data for them to verify before issuing said letter and how do they expect Immigration to be in a better position to check than they are but they keep referring me back to Immigration. The beaurocrats are playing their cards close to their chests which with my past experience indicates they don't know what they are doing other than now they have stirred up a storm they are hoping it will all go away.

However Jo seems to know that negotiations continue???

“I hope this thread remains as your intent for those who rely upon certificate of income letters and not side tracked by others again”

That will only be the case if it is regularly moderated and everyone reports non related posts.

Hopefully this one will stay on subject.

Has Sarah Reth said why the won't do the letter anymore? They only ever confirmed the documents they received!

I quite agree Moonlover, however Immigration are sticking to the old format ie Embassy Letter and that has been told to the many who have been to their Imm offices and enquired. I have written a number of times to Sarah Reth pointing out the misinformation in regard to showing income thro Bank Statements and she has never addressed it in her replies. I have also urged her to continue negotiations with the Thai authorities to find a solution to this problem as by doing what they did they removed 2 avenues of proof from us the Income and the combination method. She again has neither confirmed or denied the BE are doing this.

I would be quite happy to show statements or even a Bank letter stating that over the last 12 mths Mr Expat has deposited 400/800k which equates to a monthly income into his Thai account of 40/65k but until this is acceptable to Immigration we remain up the creek without a paddle.

Has she said why they won't do the letter anymore?

  5. Been again today with my son's Thai birth certificate more photos and downloaded TM7. Again no queue. The still wanted their larger type office TM 7 and the Thai birth certificate but not the extra photos. Then they filled in about 6 new forms most of which I did not understand and gave me my under consideration stamp.

Incidentally I did use the Chonburi app 45 days before my extension ran out but it's still showing Waiting for Submission although I couldn't find the actual submission button.

  6. Did my annual extension at Chonburi on Thursday last week and was given the foreigner info form along with several others to complete at the desk. Filled in as best as I can but not enough space to complete every section but they didn't seem to mind. What got me was filling in my address 6 times in rapid succession on all the forms at the end of which I am sure they couldn't read my handwriting. However overall good experience. Went into office at 11am was wrongly shown to the 90 day desk by the girls on the front desk who are very hard pressed but when I got my correct ticket went straight to the Family desk who processed immediately without any wait and ignoring time wasted on 90 days was out in about 20 mins. Well done Chonburi!
