  1. My Thai wife and I have happily cared for each other, through occasional illnesses and other crises, for over 40 years. Thai women, whatever their background, are not as pliant as their counterparts in some other countries, but they generally make good partners and caring mothers.
  2. Si ? In my opinion, unconfirmed, he was most likely on crystal meth and alcohol, excessive amounts of which lead to aggression. Cannabis, on the other hand, leads only to calm.
  3. Well, one is illegal, the other legal for the treatment of specified conditions.
  4. The war on drugs is a pointless waste of time, money and lives. Legalise. regulate, control, and tax.
  5. Anyone not giving full support to Israel following the appalling attack on 7 October 2023, by Palestinians on the Israeli people, needs their head examining.
  6. Cannabis leads to calm, not aggression. He will have been taking another, illegal, substance, or alcohol, or both. Either that or he is deranged, and should be kept out of public life.
  7. Feeble, pathetic police leadership which is now normal throughout the UK.
  8. I wonder how well they will now be cared for.
  9. This is Thailand. An easy-going attitude to some unharmful aspects of law and order is part of the culture, and why many people enjoy life here. If you don't like it go somewhere else.
  10. Not strange at all. The French have invested heavily in nuclear power stations. The UK, on the other hand, has neither invested significantly in nuclear, nor fully exploited it's own plentiful natural fuel resources.
  11. I wonder who finds this funny.
  12. My UK State pension has been frozen since I retired to Thailand in 1993. I have a attended meetings in the house of commons at which the unfairness of the freeze has been discussed. We are always met with kind words but nothing ever changes. I fear this will be the position into the foreseeable future given that successive UK governments are desperate for money.
  13. For generations Thailand has been known internationally as an easy-going country regarding sexual preferences. I doubt the new legislation will make much difference to the numbers of tourists arriving here. What has changed, however, is the profile of foreign visitors who now appear to be mainly from China and India, with less coming from Europe and the USA. It is unclear to me why the Thai government has encouraged this trend.
  14. They will be coming here in droves..
  15. They will be coming here in droves..
  16. We Brits really need to stop moaning. We voted Labour in with a huge majority. For the next 5 years, maybe more, we are going to pay the price. No one to blame but ourselves.
  17. As a boring old man myself I can only think they have nothing better to do. That's assuming their postings are not fake...
  18. Oh dear. I fear my home country, the UK, is heading for deep trouble...
  19. Once again the little man is being punished while the big players are left free. Best to stop the never- ending 'drug wars' and control, regulate and tax.
  20. ....and yet many of us foreigners feel that currently neither our presence nor our money is welcomed in Thai government circles.
