  1. Patpong was a blast in the 70s and 80s. Then came the night market which stifled the party atmosphere on Patpong 1. It has never been the same since, in my opinion.
  2. The whole world is laughing at Americans ? I don't think so.
  3. Living and working in the Middle East for some years I was struck by the unpopularity of the Palestinians with their neighbours and near neighbours. The consensus seemed to be that a Palestinian presence in their countries would lead to trouble. This attitude manifests itself in the lack of meaningful support given to the Palestinians from other middle eastern countries.
  4. AI used to stand for an activity to do with intimate relationships.
  5. Entirely correct. Begging etc should be an activity reserved for Thais.
  6. The UK police force, as it used to be called, has deteriorated into a police 'service' which appears unable to prevent or solve crimes. It now, sadly for all Brits, focuses on trawling social media in order to identify comments critical of the Labour government, and to punish those who post such comments.
  7. The Canadian allowed himself to be guided by streewalkers/freelancers to a makeshift bar in the wee small hours. In so doing he failed to follow his own advice on the need to exercise caution at all times.
  8. Over the years I have known many foreigners who are happily married to former Thai bar girls, and others for whom things have not worked out so well. My advice, for what it is worth, is to take plenty of time to really get to know the intended partner. In other words, much the same advice as would apply to any relationship, anywhere.
  9. Been attempted before, several times. Almost impossible to convey the atmosphere and complexities of an involvement in Thailand's nightlife in a book. Movies do rather better.
  10. I had similar damage to a BMW 635 CSi many years ago. As with most dealers the local BMW agent did not undertake body repairs but offered to take the car to an outside contractor. I declined and went to a local (Ratchayothin, Bangkok) repair specialist known to my wife. He did an excellent job, and was happy to have me monitoring progress as the work went on.
  11. Regrettably there are still people all over the world who support Hitler and they know the full story, unlike most Thais.
  12. I suspect Dr. Taweesilp will regret allowing himself to be pushed into becoming involved.
  13. A very sad case. I hope the monitor lizard is ok. Not it's fault.
  14. Smoked only one joint in my 83 year old life, in the UK. Pleasant, but not enough to make me want more.
  15. For all the time and effort involved in trying to manually alter the light to green he might just as well have waited for it to change automatically.
  16. Arrested based on allegations by whom I wonder. Could possibly be a set-up instigated by a former partner. Be interesting to see how this develops.
  17. Cannabis is way less harmful than meth, cocaine, alcohol or cigarettes. Your ignorance is extraordinary.
