  1. I agree. Of all the countries where I have lived and worked Thailand, where I have lived in retirement since 1993 having first visited in 1960, and Taiwan would be my 2 top choices.
  2. 50 years plus. On reflection, 60 years plus. In the late 70's/early 80's the best bar in Asia, according to Time Magazine and in my opinion, was the original Queen's Castle, near to the old KLM office on Patpong 1. There was no night market in those days and it was fun all the way. If you weren't around at that time I can fully understand you will wonder what on Earth I'm talking about. ATB.
  3. Many of the jobs in the entertaiment sector require at least some knowledge of English, although most of the gogo dancers get by on looks and/or other skills.
  4. Much better. Thank you for your concern. Much appreciated.
  5. Romania is leader in security technology, much of it based on the systems developed under the Ceausescu regime.
  6. I'm not sure I believe a word of this. I suspect it is a fabricated story.
  7. The fun atmosphere on Patpong was killed by the introduction of the night market. IMO Nana Plaza has been the go to place ever since. Good to hear the action is picking up there.
  8. As predicted, the fix is in. He will likely do little, if any, jail time. There will probably be images on TV of him entering prison by the front door, but none of him immediately thereafter exiting through the back door.
  9. A disgraceful article. Anyone backing China's entirely false claim on Taiwan should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Taiwan deserves our respect, not drivel from a grovelling, ill-informed so-called journalist.
  10. China's claim that Taiwan is their territory is rubbish, but no doubt the Thais obtain more benefit from their relationship with Beijing than with Taipei so they will back the so-called One China policy.
  11. Shameful case, however the rich are generally treated better than the poor in most countries.
  12. Very well done for trying to help. I guess the most important question to ask her is whether not she has, or can obtain, her Thai birth certificate. Best of luck.
  13. Very sad. You never had a chance little one. Rest in peace.
  14. Been coming to Thailand since the 1960's, worked here in the 1980's, retired and lived here since 1993. Not that much has changed, although the behaviour of some tourists has become markedly worse since flights became cheaper. Also,Thai immigration officials are less easy-going these days, but that's pretty much the same all over the world. Personally I am still very happy here.
  15. This always happens with new legislation. All the various government institutions fighting to get as big a slice of the cake as possible.
