The point and yourself often seem to miss each other - despite many attempts by many posters.
Maybe you should slow down and try to understand what others are saying.
We are not attacking you - we are disagreeing with what you are writing.
I know exactly what you said. You said I was wrong and then went on talking about Filipinos.
You also say there has been a massive increase in illegal employment despite visas becoming easier.
That is possible when people don't have the time nor means to wait when they are running from conflict as is very possible in the case of the Burmese.
Can you support your claims of this huge increase in illegal workers with links and facts?
It would be better instead of the single word, "Wrong!!"
I don't need to slow down with anything and my reading skills are fine.

In some of the tourist hotspots that I have been to when having a trip around, I found many Burmese working in hospitality in Koh Samui, and a large amount of Cambodians working in Koh Chang as well.
Even many of the housekeeping in the resorts and maintenance workers were Cambodians.

I am kinda curious what the Thais who used to do those jobs are doing for money now - they can't all be "little ghosts" making more money in Korea.
The impression I get in lower Sukhumvit is that there has been a decision by the business to staff it with non Thais. This, rather than they can't get Thais - although that said, I am also hearing of difficulty getting Thai staff.
A lot of Thais are working away in Korea, but also in Israel and other countries, such as fruit and vegetable industries in Europe.
I know Isaarn women working in the Middle East etc...........I don't think they are all domestic servants.

Wrong. That has been the case for a long time - no dispute. There has been a lot of legals and illegals in the past.
BUT since they changed the Visa rules - free easier and longer - a lot more people are in Thailand working illegally. This issue with the Philippinos is only one group - there are many more across a lot of industries.
There is and was nothing wrong with what I have stated with personal knowledge of these facts and of the Cambodians in question.
I never mentioned the Philippines.

I might be wrong, but I'd bet if he was Thai rather than a foreigner there would not have been 500 protesters, or even that the 'victim' would have pursued the case. But anyway, he's clearly an arrogant bully and let's not forget that last year he blocked an ambulance from passing and gave the driver the finger. Thailand would be well rid of him. He fives the rest of us a bad name.
No, he doesn't give me a bad name.
I had nothing to do with his bad behaviour and I've been here a long time without any such incident.
If anybody is stupid enough to blame all foreigners for the antics of this guy, it doesn't say much for their intellect.

Well, it looks like that is it and a decision has been made.
His previous behaviour has caught up with him, the lesson to be learned here, if your life is good and you are making money, don't make waves.

The Burmese, Lao and Cambodians are doing jobs that Thais refuse to do.
Many Thais, even though they have nothing, think any form of manual work is beneath them.
I know groups of Cambodians working for CP Foods, transport logistics near Suvarnabhumi, etc all these guys were legal with 2-year work permits by the way.
They smile and laugh quietly and have told me that Thais just do not last long doing these jobs, and their employers prefer Cambodians.
BTW they weren't working cheaper than Thais, all were equal in salary. They saved money by all living in one room and sharing food.
So nobody is stealing Thai jobs, they don't want the work.

what documents do these agencies that advertise 'you don't even have to go there' require?
Those adverts are a con and the Police have already made announcements telling people not to fall for it.
As well as being illegal, just why would you go that route when the legal way is fairly straightforward with just a few hoops to go through, then you are fine for 5/6 years.

What's your plan to avoid paying?
You have to be registered with a Thai tax ID to pay income tax and there is a degree of scaremongering going on at the moment.
According to a friend of mine who knows more than many, works for a Thai newspaper, and is a long-term resident, reckons for now, just ignore all the hype completely, and await solid announcements.

And that is what will happen.

Agreed…. But it’s either because of these actions, or the increased reporting of these actions that seems have planted the seeds which now feed a what appears to be a developing anti-faring media-bias….Perhaps deservedly so, but it certainly feels as though the media is running with this bias & publicising any wring step a foreigner makes, when Thai’s committing worse crimes are ignored.
One flag stolen = netizen outrage.
15 people killed though DUI = nothing.
Nailed it!

(Most) Thais will never understand, or respect the way of foreigners. They are not interested in them at all, but only in their $$$$...
It's called a lack of education and awareness as to what is happening in the outside world and how people live there.
Too many are imbeciles who prefer to sit in their villages talking and listening to garbage with no understanding of the world around them.
Many can't find the EU on a map, let alone the UK or even a large country, say, Russia.
They sit and swallow all the nationalistic crap that is poured down their throats from breakfast until sunset.

A Farang might of kicked a women, no real evidence, and I do not condone this behaviour, drunken Russian women kills two kids,, two year suspended sentence nothing, Chinese drive a jeep on the beach and sink it, nothing no charges, another Russian kills Thai girl near Saturdays in Rawai, so far nothing happening,, ladyboys going crazy in Bangkok,, nothing,,Indians causing trouble in Pattaya,, nothing happening and now us good expats are possibly going to have to jump through hoops to keep our visa with background checks?? I've lived here for 20 years and never had trouble, nothing so here's the simple answer,, stop giving out free visas to the trouble makers like the Russians that are here working and driving drunk,, wake up people were not all bad
They choose the incidents that they wish to be ' outraged by ' in this country.
Plenty of this is fuelled by social media and the press.

I think you are wide of the mark.
A lot of guys living upcountry find things to do and keep themselves busy, be it farming which I see quite a few, or other distractions.
I have a big plot of land, go abroad on business frequently, and always have something to do.
The last time I had a beer or alcoholic drink was travelling back to Thailand end of January/early February, in the lounges and on the plane.
Up here, we learn to amuse ourselves and keep busy.
I think a lot of the whingers are the bar stool brigades of Bangkok and Pattaya, Phuket and Samui.
Those places have a captive audience of like-minded moaners who can sit on stools and complain about the women, prices charged, their condo management, and the 5 baht increases at happy hour.
Also, a lot of people live in those tourist areas that can't afford it and shouldn't be.

Nothing like a brief stay in, say, Bangladesh, to improve the appreciation.
I had a guy up here last year who is also a cricket coach for women's teams. He said the same about Bangladesh.
However, the country he viewed as the absolute worst, and he has been going all around cricket nations, was UGANDA.
I have no desire to go to any of these places, but for rampant corruption, rudeness and authorities being plain nasty towards him, he said Uganda took the prize.

"There?" So you admit you don't live here. Live here a decade or so and you'll understand all sides of the coin, although certain expert members will keep pushing the "you're only a guest here" trope. However, say that about a Thai living in North Hollywood or some other Thai enclave, and working on a 10 year tourist visa while a pro-bono immigration lawyer plies the US legal framework looking for ways to provide that person citizenship, or at least a green card? Well, tell that person they should "go home if they have any complaints" or insinuate that they are only "a guest" in the US and you'll be called a racist and a nationalist. Point out the systemic racism and nationalism here and you're called disgruntled. Sorry - I really dislike hypocrisy and I'll point it out when I see it.
Well said,
and that's how I see it as well.

There was a mob assembled on Sunday morning calling for his deportation.
Due process for visa cancellation or deportation must be followed, or we are all at risk.
BTW I am a permanent resident that will become a naturalised Thai citizen next year.
I am not a permanent resident, I hold no interest in becoming one and neither am I the slightest bit interested in becoming a Thai citizen. I think the country's laws are a basket case. I wouldn't want one if they were free.
I much prefer the safety of a UK passport.
However, I certainly agree with you regarding mob rule, and visa cancellations without due process, it all sets a dangerous precedent.

Illegal migrant labour and sex work challenge Thailand’s tourism
in Thailand News
Posted
Well, this is what Thanet had to say:-
Thanet believes that the majority of operators would prefer to legally employ local workers and foreign workers with work permits if the process were simpler, to avoid potential penalties. However, the current immigration process is complicated and inconvenient, causing some operators to resort to illegal recruitment.
“With our tourism industry suffering a severe domestic labour shortage following the pandemic, the government should relax regulations regarding the employment of foreign workers. We still need them to sustain our industry.”
It kind of flows in the opposite direction to what you are saying.
