Some motorcycle riders disable their rear light by removing the bulb or disconnecting the feed. My wife's sister is one. Her reason is fear of ghostly spirits who, upon seeing a moving light, will follow it and attack the rider. Ludicrous but true. She insists, however, on making sure that her headlight is always on full beam when riding at night since she rides on the wrong side of the road against oncoming traffic. This she says is safer because vehicle drivers can see her coming. Despite this 'safe' practice she has had three serious accidents in the past two years and has permanently bent forearms. A second sister too has had more motorcycle accidents than I can recall all resulting in deformed limbs. My wife, under my influence, has never owned or ridden a motorcycle in the nearly fifty years of our marriage and remains intact. ????
