People are not out and about like in the past.  Malls very few walking about.  Roads with comparatively little traffic. Me too, my truck is mostly getting a rest.  Going to be a while longer before I am dinning out as much as I did last year. Maybe next year.

May you have good luck and in a close time frame .... hoping all good for you

  2. Just checking in to see if there are any updates to this thread topic.  I must say that I have never seen anything like the current times, nor for that matter even imagined such a time and I have been in business all my life and thats many, many years.

Being in my business here for almost 25 years now, I have never seen things so slow.  In bygone years we have sometimes had a little as 7, 8, 9 or so customers for some days in the low times of the year, but now there are days when we do not see even 1 customer.  I don't know if we have done something terrible or what.  We used to have groups that came by for early  morning breakfasts and meetings....now they have gone back home and no new replacements have come in.  We have been known primarily for our breakfasts, and now, yes the times have put some restrictions on people , but even the regulars, folks like family who we have seen and known for years, are not coming by.  I just don't know what to do.  I don't want to close down but there is only so far I can go.  Well so much for lament.

PS If you're hungry , come on down, there is no time like the present.

    All the Best

    Gonzo

  3. Just a little PS.... even Trump has been talking about them in his talks and rallys....you heard him  Kung Flu (Fries)  ... he talks with a bit of a lisp.   But don't let that put you off trying them for yourself next time in.

  4. Just a bit of looking back and I realized that I asked a question and never gave the answer.

What we call Foo Fries is possibly healthy for you.  Its a creation by Ms Gonzo.  Tofu ?? !! ,,  Somehow she is able to take the beans and convert them into something that is hard to distinguish from french fries. ....And they are delicious !!!  The word seems to have spread and we have folks now who usually order things hamburgers and french fries, now ask for Foo Fries instead.  I'm sorry for asking the question and being so delayed in giving the answer.  I just know that there are some of you out there that have been staying awake nights waiting.... all I can say is .... is Awww  Fooo

  5. I was given a couple still Photos of the stars when they were shooting.  Jumbo size.  If anyone has any interest in seeing them, please stop by.  If and when you see the movie you can say HEY!!  I know that place.

I didn't think is was too bad.  Put some biases aside and remember it is a Spike Lee movie and what is to be expected.  I enjoyed finding spots that I recognized. Some outcomes were predictable, especially when the (spoiler) explosive ordinance disposal team was inserted.  How long did it take them to shoot the Pun Pun scenes?

Silverhawk my sincere apologies for not answering sooner, but somehow I don't check in as often as I used to.   They were at The Pun Pun for two weeks.  I know that seems like a long time for so little screen time, but there was a lot of background construction that the had done.  Not sure it some of that made it to the finished product.  I will say this about the entire experience....... I have been around for a goodly number of years, but I wouldn't give up that two week experience for anything.   ....Well maybe if the price was right  Thanks for your posting.

  8. I cannot seem to find any information on....What is going on with the Baht???

Since the 1st of April the baht is stronger than the US$ by 1.68 B..... than the Euro by 1.o1 B .... and stronger

than the Pound by 1.72 B.

What is causing all of this???

To actually answer your question, Gonzo, there are many polishing compounds that can do a pretty good job of removing fine scratches from plastic lenses. I used one from 3M that worked amazingly well, but I cannot find it now. You might check-out these on Amazon. If the scratches are very fine, sometimes plain ole toothpaste can do  pretty good job.  If the lenses are glass it will be more difficult to remove the scratches.

    https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Polish/s?k=Plastic+Polish

Sounds like a good idea.... Tomorrow morn I'll wear my glasses when I brush my teeth.  Make that tooth.

Okay,  I get it, the nine 3-legged bronze dings of the Zhou Dynasty/Empire were palindromes of their temporal, and spiritual, power, and Apollo's triangle had three legs, and various disagreements over the 3-in-1, or, 1-in-3, aspects of  a certain major religion's avatar have, literally, caused the extermination of millions in history.

But, why do I see a different "me" in the mirror every time I make the mistake of looking ?  Why not three ?

    cheers, ~o:37;

Wouldn't have said it better myself

  11. Does anyone out there know......

I have a very favorite pair of prescription glasses.  Have had them for years.  The lens are pretty scratched now.

I have gotten two newer pair not but they just don't seem to feel right.  My question is ..... is it possible to take the old glasses and have the scratches polished out of the lens?  The vision with the old pair is still fine, the same as with the new ones, other than the scratches.  Whata ya tink ?

    Thanks

    Gonzo

  12. Just checking this ols post to see if anyone has added any new places that have shut down.  Actually things are so slow that I really was checking if anyone had posted my place..... PS and to see if that "anyone"  was me,,

  13. This thread has been around for quite a while now, quite a few years actually, and a thought just popped into my mind.  Do any of our members know of anyone who has posted to this thread, kindly paying respects to a lost friend, that now has themselves gone to their final reward.

Interesting to know if they wrote nicely about someone else only to become a future person in the spotlight.

    Anybody got any input?

    Blinky Bill comes to mind.

Actually I found PunPun Restaurant a very pleasant spaced out enjoyable place to relax and eat. I dont buy that these places will close. I like eating out. I dont believe I am alone in that. But Gonzo may need to focus more on social media marketing - and maybe find a cheaper delivery solution than Grab, as many others have done. Up to him!

Thanks for the kind words B T, but me being in a fog lately, I may have overlooked something. Please elaborate on your last sentence.... explain the cheaper delivery solution.  Thanks again.

  15. Did some checking and found that 2 of the delivery groups are quoted as charging 30 % !!!   That can't possibly be correct can it ???  They make more just by delivering than most restaurants make by buying, preparing and packaging .   Not to mention the cost of business and equipment set up, etc.   Is that ????  Can that ???  30% be correct????

Is it "English," then, for John to brag about his inside knowledge on a public forum ?

I was asking for details about the delivery rates you pay for home delivery.

Good that we are getting around to it.... that was the original question .

A quick thank you to the OP for flagging the option of stocking the freezer from the original Pun Pun Guest House. Just got around to doing that and took the opportunity to have late breakfast with John and Prannee. Good company and good food. We will return....

Thanks for the mention B T & P. good having you stop by and now I can put a face to the name.  Hope you enjoy your treats.....   and remember maybe a choc cake next time.   I just finished my last slice this morning with my coffee.  Thanks again J & P

  18. With regard to the 3 or 4 Food Delivery groups that are delivering in Chiang Mai (from restaurants to homes) does anyone know what the fee charged for this service is?   Are they all the same???? Is it a flat rate??? Dependent on distance ???  or other ??     Anybody know for sure??  I have been given a number of different figures....  Short of calling each one, do any members know for sure?   Is it added on to the food bill or billed into the original food price.  Serious replies only please.  Thanks ,  Gonzo
