  1. Song by 'Neil Young',

    Hey hey, my my

Rock and roll can never die

    There's more to the picture

    Than meets the eye.

    Hey hey, my my.

    Out of the blue (Phuket)

    and into the black (CR)

    You pay for this,

    but they give you that

    And once you're gone,

    you can't come back

When you're out of the blue

    and into the black.

    The bing is gone

    but he's not forgotten

    Is this the story

    of Johnny Rotten

    It's better to burn out

    'cause rust never sleeps

    The bing is gone

    but he's not forgotten.

    Hey hey, my my

Rock and roll can never die

    There's more to the picture

    Than meets the eye.

    Yours truly,

    Kan Win

P.S. Bing, Scotland heap: a heap or pile of something, especially a slag heap

Hi Kan Win, you`re right about the term "bing" as used in In Bonnie Scotland. But alas, I think that the Bing referred to in the song is not the one you mentione.d

I`ll let you try and work it out for yourself.

    There`s a clue in there.

  2. I think F1fanatic is actually a she from what I read. Maybe she's been in Phuket too long which is why she has the attitude towards western men and Thai women that she does but I have the same question for her as I do for everyone else who has nothing good to say about Thailand and her inhabitants whether Thai or expat....Why do you live here?

She should also realise that places like Phuket, Pattaya etc are very different to the rest of Thailand, and so are the people who live there, maybe she should get away from Phuket (does she even like Phuket?) and see the real Thailand, meet real Thai people and also understand that not all expats living here are like the sexpats and sex tourists that she sees in Phuket.

    Good post!

Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi etc etc is not what we call "the real Thailand". Thai people going there to work does not have the same attitude as they have living in their "own village".

They are at these places for one thing: Make as much money as possible in a short time as possible.

And single, older western women living in Thailand might be a little bit "bitter" because they might find it hard to find a new relationship here in "Smiling Thailand"!

But there are a lot of dogs to take care of!

    :D:o:wai:

Goski, 1000 posts! Where did they come from? In only 3 years! I must have nothing better to do than sitting here writing <deleted> in TV!

I hope the next 1000 will take at least 10 years and I know many will agree! :D

Don`t be too hard on yourself Sven. Not all of your 1000 posts were <deleted>. :D:D

  3. Things I like about Chiang Rai

    - mountain biking, cycling to work, really friendly bicycle shop people (Fat Free)

    - shopping at the local market (near the Main Post Office)

    - small town, people know you or recognize you (better if you know how to speak Thai), everything is 10 minutes away

    - much less pollution and traffic (but for how long - we don't know) parking is getting harder each year - which is why I bicycle.

    - Walking Street along Thanalai Rd. every Saturday evening.

    - Fishing park (Kiang Doi about 5 km from Mae Korn intersection)

    - Golf driving ranges

    - Farang food is available if you know where to get them

That's what I wanted a good easy to read summary about what you like-not reading about matey's tennis <deleted> and injuries!!

    :o:D

  4. Hard to say. I do like the different sport venues here and especially the provincial sports stadium with tennis courts. If anyone plays, face my wrath on the court!Apart from that I have to go with the actual lack of things. I don't care for night life that much so the different little bars here and there, a couple run by expats, a couple by thais make it a pleasant stay without much fuzz.
HAHA HAHA HAHA "WRATH" indeed. Well, just for your information, my leg is better now. Just need to do a little excercise to to strengthen it a little and then you`ll be facing my "WRATH when I get back. :D  Watch your back boy. :D  I`m coming to get you. :D

PS Is it ok if I borrow your racket again :o

  5. My brother in law, Who is a policeman, also lectures kids at a live-in center for kids that have or have had drug problems. It`s halfway between the Santiburi turn off and Huay Sak. I don`t know if this kid is to old for this program or not. I will endeavour to find out for you and let you know.

  6. Hi guys, I would really like some info on the best way to treat my badly torn calf muscle that I incurred during a game of tennis this morning. I`ve been packing ice against it for the last hour. It`s steadily getting tighter making it difficult to straighten my leg out totally, although I did expect this. It`s bloody painful also. When it happened, I looked behind thinking someone had hit me on the back of the leg with a big stick. That was what it felt like.

Anyway, any advice would be greatful.

My wife says she`ll bring back medicine for me.

Is there any point in going to the doctor, if only to get the correct medicine?

    Regards,

    Chang35baht.

  7. Hi Ricky, I currently have 20 rai of rubber trees, in Chiang Rai, which will ready to start harvesting the latex in around another 2 years.

I have a few questions for you that I hope you will take in the right spirit.

1). Why are you, or your company, willing to invest in something you know nothing about?

2)Do you already have busines interests in Thailand? I presume not.

3)Why, as a company, have you such a small budget? I for one would not sell my 4 year old farm to you for 100K Dollars.

    Yours,

    Chang35baht

  8. I'll have to get up there one day & with the aid of Mick Davies, add this bird to my Thai list.

Let me know when you are going, I need that bird too.

    Definitely monkeys.

Not sure about that, the OP said the animals in question were flying overhead.

    Leaping from tree to tree.

  9. Its more like the scream of a banshee... You can hear it even when they are still very far away - well - it is kind of quiet where we live so....
Bats don't scream and unless you have a ultrasonic microphone

As sceadugenga pointed out, you are not entirely correct. I am still thinking that it is bats as Nightjars do not usually go on all night. Toybits, any chance of describing the call?

    Definitely monkeys.

  10. Hi guys. The seal on one of our refrigerator doors has begun to break away from the door. Now the door won`t close properly.

The rubber seal itself is still in good condition, so basically I`m just after suggestions as to what adhesive would be best to stick the seal back onto the door.

    Any suggestions welcome,especially humourous ones.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chang35baht.
