  1. Wont be using a sim, only home wifi
  2. Yeah I don't want to spend anywhere near that. Its quite possible I will use it for a month and throw it in the drawer. My wife got a Huawei tablet for 5000 baht new and it is great Like I said not interested in features, cameras etc.....really just a web browsing device
  3. I seen a lot of used older tablets and Ipad mini's etc for sale used. Most under 2000 baht. Obviously a risk older stuff but I would only use it for surfing on the sofa, ebooks etc. Normally use my PC or phone for photos, storage etc. Not interested in putting a sim in it. I had an older Macbook when I came here, I think 2012 or so and reached the limit of updating system which in turn limited me with many newer apps. I am not thinking of buying a tablet that old....maybe 2016-18? Ipad mini seems to be a decent size but not too big. Would an older one still work ok on home true fiber / wifi connection? I think my home router has 3 and 5G. Just no sense me forking out more money than that for what will be a casual convenience / toy
  4. 2nd the capacitor faulty. I was an electrician in northern Australia where ceilings fans are very popular. Repaired dozens and dont ever remember one with a faulty motor. They go for years. 98% faults always the capacitor. You will find it usually under the cowell covering the motor. Normally a little black square thing. Should have a rating on it like 10uf (micro farad) Very cheap and easy to replace or of course get a tech to do it
  5. I can only say mangos where I live...when in season sell for around 100 baht / 3kg and sometimes less. At that price it would have to be one of the cheapest fruits in Thailand. Mangos grown in Australia are so expensive in to the point of being a luxury item...and Thailand's natural Mangos in my opinion far superior. If your production costs are high I can only say Id be looking for foreign markets or as you say ways of preserving them. Otherwise cant help with any specific information.
  6. I am in a similar situation to you. From what I gather possession is 9/10s of the law here regarding kids and her being Thai and the mother this would make this even more difficult. Hopefully in your settlement you are having it stated she is granting you custody? Not that it holds much weight legally but it does state intentions. I think the police would be very reluctant to take the child from the mother if she already had taken her... on your say so only and god knows what she could tell them. I had a couple of incidents where she called the police because I blocked her on LINE (and they actually came! lol) and another time she broke into my house and refused to leave. A consummate liar and expert at garnering sympathy she turned the situation around to where she had committed a clear cut criminal act to where she was the victim. The Police told me I would have to pay her 500k to leave my home! We had been separated for over three months. As soon as I started talking lawyers they changed their tune. If you have evidence of her situation and you can prove yourself to be the fitter parent you could go through the court process and hopefully win but it takes time and money. Very sad and difficult situation where often it appears the wrong doer has more rights than you, someone who is trying to do the right thing. As far as her getting out of your life good luck with that. You will probably be her first port of call when she is down on her luck or just feeling sorry for herself. Never give her even a whiff that there is any chance she can use the child to manipulate you. If she senses this will be game over until she bleeds you dry and runs u into the ground. If she was anything like mine she would take the child in a moment of self pity or whatever, be tired of it in a week and dump him on some Aunty somewhere. Some women here have no qualms whatsoever using the love and care you have for your children against you, all the while themselves seeing their own child as a only a leverage tool. Mine has three other children to other fathers and abandoned them all. I only found this out and a bunch of other stuff after I came here and built a house and already in deep. Anyway, she was running me ragged....using my son to manipulate me. In the end I told her ok, she is the mum. She can come and get him anytime she likes...I know this but she can't bring him back ie you are gonna get stuck "holding the baby". That straightened her up a treat and since that 6 years ago I have been in the drivers seat. We were never married and I went and did the paternity thing through the courts not long after and I am pretty sure she believes it was a custody case where I now have custody...not only paternity. Actually haven't heard from her in nearly a year but she followed me around like a ghost for 6 years. crazy or drunken calls, messages in the middle of the night when she was wallowing in self pity. Just a totally self destructive person that pulls anyone else down around her. These women are cunning but often not smart. You need to try and get in front of her somehow where you having the child is in her best interest. I still worry mine will turn up here one day or at the school and try and take my son. Good luck to you brother, hope it all works out for you.....feel your pain
  7. Took the bike out for a ride this morning with shocks on full tension setting. Much much better even by myself. I know it's probably supposed to feel a bit harsher but somehow feels smoother....Like the shock is actually doing its job and cushioning the ride. Felt no difference at all in ride height or handling. Much happier with it like this
  8. I was lucky, she hit me full tilt. I was turning right into my estate. Just as I turned women did a u turn right in front of me I got caught in no mans land. Young girl on the oncoming bike 15yo...no license, no registration, no helmet and phone in her hand had at least 75 meters to slow down or take action had her face buried in her phone reading / sending messages. Guess who had to pay for it all? Yeah dunno mate. Had Hondas most of my life and I love them for that reason...the little things that don't always break like switches etc. The big things like clutches etc never seem to break. Only my experience but the few times I have deviated to other brand bikes they were never even close to the precision and smoothness of a Honda.
  9. I never had a lick of problems with mine apart from a front shock seal. Lovely smooth safe fast bike. Got T boned by a 15yo girl. I was stationary she was going about 80kmh on a Wave...no attempt to slow down, infact she was sending a text message. You are really cocooned inside the front area. 1000 baht panel damage to the Forza and me not a scratch. Her in hospital 1 week and hit so hard her front wheel went back in her engine and blew the block. When you say the bike was used anything could have been done to it. I've seen what they can do with written off pick ups smashed beyond recognition and would fit in a shoe box. Welding bits of chassis together etc.
  10. Oh well answered my own question. First shock on the most accessible side easy peezy. Second one a little more difficult to get any purchase on and didn't seem to want to budge. Sprayed some WD40 on it and unbolted the muffler and swung it out the way a bit and then also easy. Didn't need a lot of muscle to move them. They were previously set to a couple of notches before full height. I moved them 2 notches now springs compressed / raised fully Can this do anything detrimental? Does it raise the center of gravity or anything or just compress the spring and make them firmer?
  11. Noticed today bike scraping a bit with Mrs on the back and rear shocks set to lowest (softest) setting. You tube video, easy fix spanner in the tool kit. Great, missing. They are just standard shocks that you twist around to seat a stud in the peaks and valleys to raise or lower. So I went to a few bike repair places and all had various excuses from don't have the tool, to they can't be adjusted to non standard shocks (which I highly doubt). I am sure a larger Honda dealer could sort it in 5 minutes but we are a little way away from them and just wondering would it be possible to do it with multigrips? I can get a decent grab on the area that needs adjusting, easily accessible. Just thought I would ask as I don't want to scratch the shocks up unecesarilly if a hopeless endeavor
  12. Not always, been scammed once here buying a thing off facebook (not cod). Box of old rusty bolts arrived
  13. Its nothing from Lazada or Shopee so no chance of returning the items nor is it Facebook. It has to be a scam. My wife googled it in Thai before and many reports of similar incidents.
  14. Oh I didn't know that! I wont be paying for it that's for sure. Bit pointless having COD if you have to pay before checking the goods
  15. Got a call from Kerry Express tonight, we were out. Guy said he had a delivery but couldn't leave it because 800 baht COD. I do get a lot of deliveries and sometimes lose track but just about 100% sure I didn't order anything COD....not off Lazada or Facebook. I know the Kerry driver so the delivery itself is legit. Even the tracking number and point of origin look weird. No name of sender or anything just a number. He is bringing it back tomorrow so be interesting to open it up, if they will allow it.
  16. I think you will find as it is a passport it will be covered in Federal law, and as severe or worse. It depends how desperate you are. I would do anything in my child's best interest
  17. That the best solution....next problem finding an honest lawyer who will do the custody case without wanting a ridiculous amount.
  18. Not a small point at all. I left that to the readers imagination. A fairly serious Federal offence. The question is would mum be likely or have the smarts or where with all to know it even happened / contest it down the track. I would say in 98% of cases probably not. Would your countries passport office check with the other country? I don't know
  19. I recently checked this myself and am in the same predicament. Mother required to appear for a Thai passport but only her signature required for an Australian passport. I enquired what were my options if mother awol and they replied. They sent me a link of special circumstances and I am guessing you would need some affadavit someone backing up your story? They also said it would take considerably longer to process
  20. No offence to anyone and I don't know the full story but have seen this scenario repeated over and over particularly in villages. And the debtor crying poor and didn't understand doesn't wash with me. They know how these loans work far better than any of us particularly at his age. All they seem to care about is getting their hands on the cash without thinking things through or the consequences. First question is why did he miss 4 payments and not contact the agent? or am I reading that wrong? These people often just never take responsibility for their own actions. What I have seen happen is the debtor misses a payment (which the loan shark is expecting). I have heard villagers across the road from me all laughing saying the person who loaned them the money was stupid....they hadn't paid and thought the loan agent had forgotten about it. Loan agent waits usually around 6 months of missed payments where the principal and compound interest is now out of reach. I saw this happen first hand row of small farms owned by people next door to each other. The loan agent was also a farm wholesale agent bought the local casava and sold onto the big factories. Like I said wait 6 months come in a take all the properties. I heard one of the owners complaining they had been scammed but they themselves thought they were scamming the loan agent lol, a very smart Chinese woman. In her defense she said that she wouldn't have minded if they had contacted her and made some arrangement. One man said the interest was so high he had no chance of repaying and she said never mind the interest you haven't paid not a baht of the principal! Asked him if he had any money left of the money he borrowed....no all gone. Not his fault he had to pay for his brothers funeral 200k! Was an absolute circus and while these people are uneducated and maybe in some ways easy pray I am sure at their age they knew full well what percentage interest they would have to pay and possibly had no intention of ever paying it back. I have no sympathy for people who have less than honest intentions themselves and are victims of their own greed.
  21. I am ok if I can use steel sometimes. Just targets etc plastic / glass ok. But thought steel would be good to have for dogs, home security etc
  22. We made the choice to put our kids in public school. Private was just going to be untenable for us long term. Is a good city school though and cost us quite a large "joiner fee" to get them enrolled there. Our 2 kids 6yo and we plan to go private in their high school years. I reckon this term I could count the amount of full weeks they have attended school on a few fingers. Between the constant public holidays and teachers meetings etc where they shut the school for the day or a couple of days. I reckon last 6 weeks they would have done 1 full week. A couple of supposed meetings, a meeting to discuss Scouts...school shut for 2 days hosting a regional Art thing or something. Then there were the plethora of public holidays before this. You would think after 2 or 2.5 years off with Covid they would be trying to catch up? Must be frustrating for people going to work who don't have family to take care of the kids. Tomorrow (Thursday) another day off / Teachers meeting and a message may as well not come on Friday, won't be doing much as last day of term lol. Then a month or so holidays. I am constantly drumming into my kids plan on a career teaching in the future. Must be the holy grail of jobs for Thai people. Does everyone experience the same thing or is it just our school? Seems to be no interest in increasing the standard of education here....or maybe that's the plan. Mushroom programming......
  23. Was reading a bit more on these air soft pistols and without exception seems to be not recommended at all to use steel BBs. Looks like a lot of the barrels on these things aluminum or allow and the steel BBs tear them up. Thats a bummer ????
  24. Delighted to report that Mex Chilli powder recipe excelled expectations. Much better than packet stuff. Also experimented using Asian Adzuki beans (little red beans they put in deserts supposed to be very good for Mex Chilli). They were also excellent. Very soft and creamy texture. Because they are small take a little less time to cook...recipe I found suggested 45 minutes but still not soft for me after this time so added 1/4 teaspoon carb soda same as you would do with mushy peas. Excellent result go really well in the chilli. 1 cup dry beans 4 cups water ends up making quite a bit so last a long time. Available in 500 gr packs at Makro. About 40 baht from memory. My Makro didn't have the normal red kidney beans but perhaps some do. In any case these will do me.
  25. I seem to remember them telling my missus...they told her "why need check money bank, visa (extension) already finish" lol. Which is sort of correct when you think about it. If they check your money after you have waited the under advisement period and go to pick up the visa and had a big issue with it they would have to cancel your visa. I doubt they would go to the trouble....and where does it say you need to have money in the bank right up until the under advisement / pick up date?....which is usually a month after your extension expires? I can understand if you need money in the bank right up until the day your extension expires....but past that I don't understand nor have I seen a requirement to that effect. of course it is always "up to them" (IO office) but does anyone have any insight on this?
