  1. Its never had English. As the other poster said need to use Chrome browser with auto translate on. Sometimes u need to refresh the page to get it to translate
  2. That's right, usually after uni a qualified teacher can not go and work for the government. They need to sit a test first (even though they were govt educated and graduated) to qualify. This entails usually circa 200k up "tuition" fee to sit the test. Absolute disgrace. So the teacher could be a gem but of they can't stump up the money to pass the test they will work in a private / nursery school for 8-12k per month. The govt actually subsidizes the teachers employment but this is usually skimmed by the principal. How they account in these schools I will never know. It's like any money saved or rorted goes directly in the back pocket
  3. this pretty much spot on. 7/11 Tesco workers start on about 9k, lifted to 12k after 3 months. Factory workers 10-12k month + ot and bonuses. Teachers non govt school 10-15k. Govt school start around 23k and increase yearly. Nurses, police around 15-20k to start increasing yearly. General roadside restaurant / noodle cart 6000 - 15000 per month depending on area / quality / effort. Things got noticeably harder since Covid and doesnt seem to have recovered. My observations mainly North East area. Bangkok seems to be more but so is the cost of living.
  4. > Yyou have answered your own question so why post on here ??????!!!!!! Most people here are really nice and helpful. But, there's always one, who wants to make stupid, rude comments and make a nusance of themselves. Here here....you should see the Bangkok Classifieds on FB! Every single post someone trying to sell something at least 3 or 4 miserable tw@t's commenting the item looks like rubbish or price too high etc. How does a person get to that level of boredom / unhappiness where you have nothing better to do than gutlessly snipe at people from afar? I have never seen Thai's doing the same to each other
  5. Problem with cleaning with air or vacuum is the gunk on the leading edge of the fan which will more than likely be sticky / greasy. This is whats causing the noise and poor performance. You really need to wipe it off probably with solvent or just replace the fan. Cheap as chips and usually easy to get to.
  6. One of the first steps is taking her and usually the mother inlaw to child services for an interview and for them to vouch for you as a parent. The lawyer organizes all this once you get the ball rolling. Once shes done this its hard for her to back out and go back on her statement so the sooner u get it started and get her up for the interview the better. Hope it works out for you, best of luck
  7. I have heard two sides of that story and not sure either is correct. My Thai friend told me it used to be accepted that the girls would go with the natural father so the new step father wouldn't have any interest in the young daughters. I dont think it is as simple as that anymore and more to do with the fitness / stabillity of each parent.
  8. Surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but if you are not married you have zero parental rights unless you go through the courts and do the paternity thing. Not that hard to do, process about 3 months and u need a lawyer...but it is a lot simpler if she supports it. If not you may need to do DNA testing. Once you get your judgement papers are lodged at the Amphur. Your name on the birth certificate gives you no rights whatsoever. After you do all that then if she wont play ball you need to go back to court and fight for visitation...even then she may ignore it or do as she pleases. Maybe she is expecting financial support from you, which you may be able to leverage your rights with
  9. I had the same problem with the Macbook. It is programmed self destruction and will only get worse in the future.
  10. Thanks for all the replies. Looks like Mrs found a 2019 Samsung Tab A 8.0 for 2000 baht and women works basically around the corner from her. Like new in box. Very basic tablet but by all accounts perfect for what I need and the right size. Thanks again
  11. Wont be using a sim, only home wifi
  12. Yeah I don't want to spend anywhere near that. Its quite possible I will use it for a month and throw it in the drawer. My wife got a Huawei tablet for 5000 baht new and it is great Like I said not interested in features, cameras etc.....really just a web browsing device
  13. I seen a lot of used older tablets and Ipad mini's etc for sale used. Most under 2000 baht. Obviously a risk older stuff but I would only use it for surfing on the sofa, ebooks etc. Normally use my PC or phone for photos, storage etc. Not interested in putting a sim in it. I had an older Macbook when I came here, I think 2012 or so and reached the limit of updating system which in turn limited me with many newer apps. I am not thinking of buying a tablet that old....maybe 2016-18? Ipad mini seems to be a decent size but not too big. Would an older one still work ok on home true fiber / wifi connection? I think my home router has 3 and 5G. Just no sense me forking out more money than that for what will be a casual convenience / toy
  14. 2nd the capacitor faulty. I was an electrician in northern Australia where ceilings fans are very popular. Repaired dozens and dont ever remember one with a faulty motor. They go for years. 98% faults always the capacitor. You will find it usually under the cowell covering the motor. Normally a little black square thing. Should have a rating on it like 10uf (micro farad) Very cheap and easy to replace or of course get a tech to do it
  15. I can only say mangos where I live...when in season sell for around 100 baht / 3kg and sometimes less. At that price it would have to be one of the cheapest fruits in Thailand. Mangos grown in Australia are so expensive in to the point of being a luxury item...and Thailand's natural Mangos in my opinion far superior. If your production costs are high I can only say Id be looking for foreign markets or as you say ways of preserving them. Otherwise cant help with any specific information.
  16. I am in a similar situation to you. From what I gather possession is 9/10s of the law here regarding kids and her being Thai and the mother this would make this even more difficult. Hopefully in your settlement you are having it stated she is granting you custody? Not that it holds much weight legally but it does state intentions. I think the police would be very reluctant to take the child from the mother if she already had taken her... on your say so only and god knows what she could tell them. I had a couple of incidents where she called the police because I blocked her on LINE (and they actually came! lol) and another time she broke into my house and refused to leave. A consummate liar and expert at garnering sympathy she turned the situation around to where she had committed a clear cut criminal act to where she was the victim. The Police told me I would have to pay her 500k to leave my home! We had been separated for over three months. As soon as I started talking lawyers they changed their tune. If you have evidence of her situation and you can prove yourself to be the fitter parent you could go through the court process and hopefully win but it takes time and money. Very sad and difficult situation where often it appears the wrong doer has more rights than you, someone who is trying to do the right thing. As far as her getting out of your life good luck with that. You will probably be her first port of call when she is down on her luck or just feeling sorry for herself. Never give her even a whiff that there is any chance she can use the child to manipulate you. If she senses this will be game over until she bleeds you dry and runs u into the ground. If she was anything like mine she would take the child in a moment of self pity or whatever, be tired of it in a week and dump him on some Aunty somewhere. Some women here have no qualms whatsoever using the love and care you have for your children against you, all the while themselves seeing their own child as a only a leverage tool. Mine has three other children to other fathers and abandoned them all. I only found this out and a bunch of other stuff after I came here and built a house and already in deep. Anyway, she was running me ragged....using my son to manipulate me. In the end I told her ok, she is the mum. She can come and get him anytime she likes...I know this but she can't bring him back ie you are gonna get stuck "holding the baby". That straightened her up a treat and since that 6 years ago I have been in the drivers seat. We were never married and I went and did the paternity thing through the courts not long after and I am pretty sure she believes it was a custody case where I now have custody...not only paternity. Actually haven't heard from her in nearly a year but she followed me around like a ghost for 6 years. crazy or drunken calls, messages in the middle of the night when she was wallowing in self pity. Just a totally self destructive person that pulls anyone else down around her. These women are cunning but often not smart. You need to try and get in front of her somehow where you having the child is in her best interest. I still worry mine will turn up here one day or at the school and try and take my son. Good luck to you brother, hope it all works out for you.....feel your pain
  17. Took the bike out for a ride this morning with shocks on full tension setting. Much much better even by myself. I know it's probably supposed to feel a bit harsher but somehow feels smoother....Like the shock is actually doing its job and cushioning the ride. Felt no difference at all in ride height or handling. Much happier with it like this
  18. I was lucky, she hit me full tilt. I was turning right into my estate. Just as I turned women did a u turn right in front of me I got caught in no mans land. Young girl on the oncoming bike 15yo...no license, no registration, no helmet and phone in her hand had at least 75 meters to slow down or take action had her face buried in her phone reading / sending messages. Guess who had to pay for it all? Yeah dunno mate. Had Hondas most of my life and I love them for that reason...the little things that don't always break like switches etc. The big things like clutches etc never seem to break. Only my experience but the few times I have deviated to other brand bikes they were never even close to the precision and smoothness of a Honda.
  19. I never had a lick of problems with mine apart from a front shock seal. Lovely smooth safe fast bike. Got T boned by a 15yo girl. I was stationary she was going about 80kmh on a Wave...no attempt to slow down, infact she was sending a text message. You are really cocooned inside the front area. 1000 baht panel damage to the Forza and me not a scratch. Her in hospital 1 week and hit so hard her front wheel went back in her engine and blew the block. When you say the bike was used anything could have been done to it. I've seen what they can do with written off pick ups smashed beyond recognition and would fit in a shoe box. Welding bits of chassis together etc.
  20. Oh well answered my own question. First shock on the most accessible side easy peezy. Second one a little more difficult to get any purchase on and didn't seem to want to budge. Sprayed some WD40 on it and unbolted the muffler and swung it out the way a bit and then also easy. Didn't need a lot of muscle to move them. They were previously set to a couple of notches before full height. I moved them 2 notches now springs compressed / raised fully Can this do anything detrimental? Does it raise the center of gravity or anything or just compress the spring and make them firmer?
  21. Noticed today bike scraping a bit with Mrs on the back and rear shocks set to lowest (softest) setting. You tube video, easy fix spanner in the tool kit. Great, missing. They are just standard shocks that you twist around to seat a stud in the peaks and valleys to raise or lower. So I went to a few bike repair places and all had various excuses from don't have the tool, to they can't be adjusted to non standard shocks (which I highly doubt). I am sure a larger Honda dealer could sort it in 5 minutes but we are a little way away from them and just wondering would it be possible to do it with multigrips? I can get a decent grab on the area that needs adjusting, easily accessible. Just thought I would ask as I don't want to scratch the shocks up unecesarilly if a hopeless endeavor
  22. Got a call from Kerry Express tonight, we were out. Guy said he had a delivery but couldn't leave it because 800 baht COD. I do get a lot of deliveries and sometimes lose track but just about 100% sure I didn't order anything COD....not off Lazada or Facebook. I know the Kerry driver so the delivery itself is legit. Even the tracking number and point of origin look weird. No name of sender or anything just a number. He is bringing it back tomorrow so be interesting to open it up, if they will allow it.
  23. Mine was going really well even a year / year and a half into covid but last 6 months real decline. Down perhaps 50%. Since this Ukraine thing just awful. She has a smallish Western style food restaurant in the city that was previously doing well. There are other restaurants around her and they also seem to be in the same boat. So many businesses here have shut up shop. Anyone else seeing the same thing?
  24. Started driving the kids to school morning rush time. Absolute brainless lunatics on the road so I think a dashcam is required. I don't really want to mess around hard wiring one in and local shops her quoting 2500+ for installation and an extra 1500 for rear camera. I don't believe you always have to spend top dollar to get a decent product either. I got a couple of stand alone IP CCTV cameras have had for over 3 years now cost me 400 baht each. Neve failed. Full remote rotation, movement activation, alarm and auto push warnings. Outside undercover with all the bugs etc too. I see a lot of dashcams under 1000 baht on Lazada and many have 100's of positive reviews. Looks like most you can just plug into your cigarette lighter or USB. One in particular looks like a rear view mirror that clips onto your review mirror. Anyone have any insight? Is there any benefit to hardwiring? Like for eg cigarette lighter power wont be active unless ignition on. Any advice appreciated
  25. Got the kids enrolled at a (supposedly) better, larger city government school (At an entrance price / joiner fee I might add) 2 x 6 year old boys. First shock was the shet fight just getting them to school. Foot paths all around the main entrance full of vendors trying to extract the kids lunch money for toys and candy. What is worse it is impossible to walk on the foot paths with the sellers so kids wandering all over the road. The actual main gate into the school is unsupervised as is the crossing. You can't walk from across the road as the main entrance is choka blok with motor bikes. There is no entrance clear way from the street. What has really got me riled though is the kids have come home with candy last two days. We don't give them money as there is no shop in the school, only the vendors outside and they are not allowed out. Kids told me today, and their teacher confirmed one of the teachers (on the 6 year old kids level) has a tray set up in the classroom to sell kids candy! Its real sugar rush stuff rubbish too...bubble gum etc. I know the culture is different here but is this for real?
