To remain on the topic of the OP: of course, activists are in propaganda mode. However, it is unlikely that environmental issues such as climate change will improved without the participation of people. So It's not necessarily a bad thing if the media are a bit too alarming. Having said that, even the more cautious scientific forecasts are alarming enough.

In other countries, there are plenty of right-wing governments who support environmental policies. Actually, I doubt that there is even evidence that Chinese and Jews are significantly more resistant. The differences observed are likely due to other factors such as policy or individual behaviour. The lower death rates in Israel and China are obviously related to policies, and also to cautious individual behaviour. Similarly, proportionally more Republican than Democrats have died from Covid. It doesn't mean that Democrats are more resistant than Republicans.
