No - theoretically, they are also illegal as they are not registered, taxed or insured - so if one is involved in an at fault accident with another vehicle there is little room for recourse. Then, as pointed out we have the food-carts, samlors etc... I very much doubt they are insured - but all Thai authorities turn that blind eye... This is also the argument against bicycles sharing the road with other vehicles which have to be registered, taxed and insured.

Okay yourself a sidecar which is totally illegal but yet everybody has one To two tier enforcement is rather obvious in this situation, particularly given the degree of helmetless riding and vehicles without tax stickers etc... so the betting is many (if not most) are also uninsured etc and quite likely most riders on the island unlicensed (but thats just an assumption). Nevertheless, 1 wheeled device is just stupid, especially if being ridden recklessly - so the Police did the right thing. The point of course is their selectiveness when doing the right thing !!! --------- That said, it would be good, particularly in area's such as this to allow electric scooters - its time Thailand offered a way to tax and road legalise many of these - but they also come in such varied form standardised classifications become difficult... But on small roads with (theoretically) slow traffic, this is not an issue. Something like this [below] could be made road legal and offer plenty of convenience from a mobility perspective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhjVjjV-kz0 That said - these scooters are still a lot less stable than a regular scooter - so perhaps maintaining a regular scooter as the 'minimum road legal form of transport' makes sense.

How much do you pay for health insurance?

Its clear you have no interest in posting any useful detail and are instead 'drip feeding' information as some sort of childish play. -

Agreed. My gripe is; this is limited to the size of the attachment which is quite small. You don't need this - Drop Box is a great option for having... a) an online backup of important documents. b) the ability to access your documents with a log-in (from anywhere).

What are you on about? the dude WAS NOT ON THE BTS. Nor was he sharing a confined space with others. he was on his own vehicle on a tropical island. quit looking for reasons to be offended. 100% agree - there's no need to shoe-horn offence here by making stuff up... IMO - the police were correct to pull the guy over on the basis that the 'mode of transport' is unregistered, unlicensed, and uninsured - thats all fair enough. Now, how many other motorcycles on the Island are also, unregistered, unlicensed, and uninsured ??? This guy coloured outside the lines and that gets noticed here...

Immigration System Overhaul Underway at Suvarnabhumi Airport
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
20mins is not unreasonable given the queues in other airports (UK, Tokyo etc)... But it should not be a target, as its really too long. If Thailand wants to 'woo' the tourists - they should be taking measures to make the Immigration Line completely forgettable, i.e. less than 10mins at the very most. -

These folk seem to have trouble with this issue... ... Its not the processing time thats the issue - it never has been. Its the queueing time. Of course, processing time impacts queueing time, but having enough kiosks open is the very basic and very simple solution that never seems to be taken on board, over the past few years, reading all the similar 'reports' and 'announcements' about improving air-port services, not once I have I read that there will me more immigration officers manning more desks to reduce the congestion. Too sensible - Quite a logical solution, but I suspect the issue would be 'face' whereby certain immigration officers believe they are above the 'manual leg work' of sitting at an air-port immigration kiosk... -

The basic info of what the premium covers, other info that helps. - Insurer - IPD / OPD (inc medication) - Premium - CoPay / deductible You pay 750 baht per month and seem to get all of this which is the deal of the century - however, there's more to it than that isn't there.... -
You can send an e-mail to yourself from any account on any computer... the old computer or the new one you are using now.

Perhaps start with the idea that the 50m is nothing more than a complete guess and not an official measurement... ... It could have been 25 meters, it could have been 70meters - such 'guesses' in this context are nearly always going to have a large margin of error... Thus debating the 'actual speed' based on such information is going to be highly erroneous.

Wiki only seems to quote Russian figures as of 2019 and US figures up to 2021 - yours figures are more up to date. Nevertheless - do you still think this is remotely relevant ???. For example - the US (2021) is 12.9 road fatalities per 100,000 people and the UK 2.9. Does that have any relevance if the driver were from the US or from the UK ??? - of course not - its just irrelevant noise by some to shoe-horn their political bigotry into the discussion. We also have no idea IF the driver was even Russian - thus you are still trying to shoe horn in some relevance to nationality. The driver could originate from any Easter European nation - that would still be of no relevance whatsoever to her being involved in a traffic incident in Thailand.

[Quote correctly placed]... You've quoted a generalised stopping distances. My calculations are specifically applied the vehicle involved (Changan S7) Nevertheless... If I'm not mistaken, the speed limit there would be 80kmh - not that it means its safe to drive at 80kmh... Also - we don't actually know how far it took to stop - we just have one quote of 50m, which is most likely someones guess and then that was quoted - its far from being a fact...

Russia - 12.0 road deaths per 100,000 of population. USA - 12.9 road deaths per 100,000 of population. As I wrote - apart from a few bigoted comments... Thus, trying to 'shoehorn' nationality or being Russian as having any relevance is flawed, particularly when understanding that aggregate stats mean little on an individual level.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Good info... That makes a lot more sense.... I'm basing my information of limited info of personal visits... For example: Blue Port in Hua Hin - I just checked and saw that it has 2x CCS2 and 1x Type 2 chargers... I'm assuming the Type 2 charger was occupied when I was there, which I why I didn't see it and only noted the CCS2 chargers... Also, I saw Tesla chargers (which I assumed were slower AC type chargers) on the 2nd floor of the car park, and outside there were 3x Tesla Super Chargers (clearly Tesla going all-in on charger support at this mall). -
This isn't much of a mystery. This is an Eastern European female name, Russia, Belarus... are the possible nationalities. Apart from a few bigoted stretches of the imagination - is the nationality even relevant ? If a Thai or any other nationality were driving the outcome might very likely have been the same if this was simply a matter of a motorcyclist pulling across the path of a car without looking...

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Do you get hit for 'parking fees' when occupying a charing bay when the car is fully charged ? It's not much (about 100 baht per hour) - from my perspective, its more an issue of not taking up a space that may be needed by someone who wants to charge their car if I'm not using it. -

Could always use the slow charging cable (22kWh), by the hour, and gives you an hour to munch or stroll around. True... Does every mall have the slower charger option ? When I last visited a Mall it only had the CCS2 chargers and I had to go out and move the car. -

The issue I see with chargers in the Malls is that they charge the car quickly, then you have to move the car before you are charged an additional 'waiting fee'... ... so, we get to the mall, find a charger, scan the app (register if its a new app of many that we've not used before), then charge, after about 20 mins, we have to return and move the car to another spot or pay an extra fee for parking in the 'charing bay' - which I think is fair enough for others who may want to charge.... But, its still an inconvenience. Realistically, this not a big issue of course, as mostly people will be charging at home anyway and not need to charge the car in the mall. -
Its an interesting connundrum - how to make the area safer... To continue the discussion with you: Wouldn't the traffic also be making up for lost time at well over 90 kmh at the point the trucks U-Turn ??? I would assume that 250m is easily enough distance to slow down IF the area is well lit.. (even with a flashing orange amber light). It seems to me that to avoid a dangerous situation, they have created an even more dangerous situation. Indeed - they don't notice a U-Turning lorry either - at least a turning lorry is out of the way faster than a U-Turning lorry. Neither is a safe situation, but where else can the lorries head in the other direction ??? (its either a right hand turn or a U-Turn somewhere). Yep... as usual, something better could be done instead of 'kicking the can down the road' literally and figuratively.
