  1. Not good that the other diver did a hit-and-run, but sounds like she killed herself by changing lane position without looking, in what appears to be from the breakdown lane into a lane of traffic. Agreed... but its also incredible how few are able to predict the movements of others on the roads here. Approaching a parked truck, the pick-up driver completely failed to evaluate that the motorcyclist may attempt to ride around the parked truck and thus failed to allow any space. That said, as you pointed out, it appears the lady changed lanes into the path of the approaching pickup without looking. However, dragging the Motorcycle for 1km is the behavior of a deranged lunatic, and this leads me to wonder of the speed at which the Pick-up was approaching which ultimately may have contributed to the death of the lady. Either way, such abhorrent actions by the driver needs severe punishment.
  2. I don't think so.. As I understand it - to be road legal, side cars have to be factory fitted (such as the Tiger Retro 110 Sidecar). That said - it hardly makes any difference, clearly authorities turn a blind eye to these contraptions, primarily because they are generally used by poor Thai's and it just seems to be 'culturally accepted' that the poor circumvent the regulations, or rather fly under the radar. I've seen a family of foreigners on salengs in Rayong, but I also imagine if this became more common place we'd see people fined for their use. I thing renewing the Por-Ror-Bor (compulsory insurance and tax) of such vehicles is carried out without informing the DLT of the modification. I'm not 100% sure IF the DLT will officially approve such side-cars - its more a case of don't ask...
  3. OK - so you generalise that British Tourists are trouble makers. I've used the stats (and guesswork) provided by you to highlight that its far less than 0.01 % who may get into trouble. I've pointed that any generalisation based on such a small figure is clearly flawed - and this highlight why you are a bigot. No need for digging... even without the stats you provided, your content highlights exactly what you are. A drunk driving bigot who hangs around with mongers !!!
  4. Compare to stats of other nations then you'll have a basis for comparison - without this you are applying your bigotry.
  5. Further distortion - there is no claim of being victimised... I'm calling you out for being a bigot, your bigotry surfaces in any thread in which a Brit has behaved poorly... The absense of comment when its any other nationality is also notable. Post stats for other nationalities as a comparison.... then you might have a fair basis for judgement. The issue of course, is that stats for other nationalities cannot be found. Fair enough - the stat for Thailand (in 2015) was 45 British arrests per 100,000 British visitors. You have then chosen to 'inflated' this to assume a number of British touble makes by 10 fold - that could be close, it could be far off, it could be less - you have no idea, but you have now shoe-horned that into your confirmation bias ?? The actual stat for Brits arrested overseas is 6.9 per 100,000. How many is it for US Citizens ?, Thai's, Germans, French, Australians etc etc - there are no available figures so you have no frame of reference. How many Swiss, Germans, French, Australians, US arrested in Thailand per 100,000 visitors from those nations? again, there are no available figures so you have no frame of reference. Look for balanced comparison... it may still be found found that the numbers British are higher. BUT, contrary to your assertion - that still does not fit a sweeping generalisation that British Tourists are 'bad' because out of 432,000 British Tourists each year (2015 data), 194 of them getting arrested is 0.0004 %... and that does not make a fitting generalisation... This is why you are a bigot. You are pedalling a false narative with your highly flawed generalisation that the British are Trouble makers when it is an extreme minority who cause problems... Even with your 10x exaggeration that would still be far less than 0.01 % - hardly something from which to draw an intelligent basis for a generalisation.
  6. Facts: Honour Killings in India in 2019: 25 Honour Killings in India in 2020: 25 Honour Killings in India in 2021: 33 Honour Killings in Pakistan in 2021: 385 (Human rights defenders estimate that figure is closer to 1,000) Thus: Honour Killings in India occurs at a rate of 0.017 to 0.023 per Million of Population. Honour Killings in Pakistan occurs at a rate of 1.5 to 3.9 per Million of Population. Honour Killings in Pakistan occur at a rate approximately 88 to 175x greater than in India. No matter how hard to avoid a harsh reality with these comparisons - the information remains absolutely damning against Pakistan.
  7. You want to deport two people and ban them for 10 years for having a business and using exactly same business practices as any Thai owned business nearby, by employing people that did not have a work permit ?? .... why not just go all in on the stupidity and suggest the death penalty ?
  8. Ok, so this is an old thread, but I've just seen it and its still relevant. Did Roojai reject the cover because the car is an EV and there is a greater interpreted risk of a higher payout if involved in a small bump and damaging the battery ???? something similar ? It could also be argued that many EV's have better driver aids and are thus less likely to be involved in an incident - but thats quite subjective.
  9. Correct, just as the Spanish used Christianity to justify untold brutality by the inquisition. Nothing to do with the religion in either case. Your point of comparison is something that occurred in the 15th century and you are somehow using this normalise honour killings by Pakistani's in todays world ??? Surely you see the silliness in this analogy of yours... Whats next, you'll mention the slave trade ?
  10. What data exactly ???... just the reports here which is not even qualitative information. You can no more accurately asses the frequency a Brit is involved in an 'incident' based on reports in this forum, than you can road fatality stats based on reports in this forum. You also completely overlook any other reports involving other nationalities because you focus solely on reports involving the British to confirm your bias. Now: IF you had a running tally: - British: xx reports over 12 months - Swiss: xx reports over 12 months - French: xx reports over 12 months Then there may be a very weak scientific basis to your opinion - however, you'd still be missing proportion (i.e. how many incidents per 10,000 tourist / foreigners of that nationality etc) If there are 50 reports from 500,000 Brits... thats 10 per 100,000 If there are 10 reports from 50,000 Swiss... thats 20 per 100,000 Of course - you wont take the time to establish any of this, you won't take the time to recognise that as this is an English Language Forum and the sources and information are heavily bias towards reporting on the British.... then there is the contagion effect, whereby IF reports on Brits draws more attention, further attention is attracted... We saw this last year when there were a successive number of reports about Swiss foreginers in Thailand and the contagion effect surfaced whereby even a minor issue regarding a Swiss person attracted a report. It does seem that there are many reports about British, and the above covers reasons for this - In much the same reasons Reports in Bali will focus on poorly behaving Australians, and in Cancun reports will focus on poorly behaving Americans. Also, in Thailand we see a number reports focusing on poorly behaving Chinese and Russians, and then the associated bigoted comments about them - thats just becase they are here in such high numbers, some of them are of course going to 'stuff up' and the racists and bigots like to jump in on these threads - but that doesn't mean all Chinese and all Russians are 'bad tourists'... which is your accusation against the Brits... You, MalcomB are bigot solely targeting the British - you have never posted anything which redeems you from this fact.
  11. You should note from other threads - I only argue with the idiots making outrageously stupid comments and call them out for such... There are lots of other threads where the discussion is far more constructive because the posters in those threads are not making bigoted, racist or outlandishly inaccurate claims...
  12. I didn't - but your interpretation makes more sense... The statistic is still completely made up rubbish.
  13. yeah I did. No you didn't - you guessed... A prediction is an informed statement about a future event or outcome based on data, evidence, patterns, or a logical reasoning process - you are far from informed, you are simply a bigot. A guess is an estimation or opinion about a future event or outcome made without sufficient evidence or complete information - you guess and when it becomes true you claim some sort of victory as you bounce around your echo-chamber fuelled by conformation bias. I note you pass no comments on the threads where a Thai beats up a westerner !
  14. And this is exactly why I think you are a complete fool.... I've not tried to pin it in the French... I've suggested that IF this 'were a french person' you would not have commented because this does not fit your bigoted agenda... Now.. go and learn to read...
  15. My bad - jumping to the assumption that we are more likely to encounter idiot foreigners in areas such as Pattaya and Patong etc...
  16. Yup... Son is 10... We moved from a full on Car Seat (Britax Roamer III) to a 'booster seat' just this year. The reason for the booster is simply to raise his height so that the seatbelt is lower than his neck. When he was younger he was 'rear-facing' in a car seat for as long as physically possible. IMO - even the British Law is weak on this allowing parents to place their children forward facing too early.
  17. Theres some unhinged characters in these area's of high foreigner footfall... Utter idiots... the whole vibe of these areas now seems 'edgy'... but to be honest, places such as Patong have always been more edgy than others, the many Thai's in these area's seem on edge and impolite, many foregiens behave the same way... ... Its as if there is a double stigma where both show resentment and disregard for those around them which makes things worse.
  18. Agreed... It seems the understanding of motorists here is not one that recognises the importance of visibility... ... So many motorcyclist seem blissfully ignorant to the risks of not having lights at night. In this case... I'm not sure how such an accident can happen - driving into a stationary object like this. I recall driving my son home from Hospital the first time.... quite amusing in hindsight - I was so extremely careful. Obviously, since then, driving is far more 'normal' - though my son still uses a booster and is not permitted in any vehicle without a seat belt (excluding the odd occasion we are on Holiday somewhere such as HH and use a TukTuk).
  19. When you think of the cost of a flight here, accomodation etc, I think that's actually a good idea that might actually act as a deterrent for this kind of anti-social behaviour by tourists. Certainly sleeping it off for a night with possibly a few thousand baht fine seems too light. I hate the yobbos from back home bringing their loutish behaviour out here thinking they'll be no serious consequences. Agreed... when anyone is caught behaving like this.. particularly when unprovoked, giving them a 'ban' would certainly improve things... as a preventative measure, but also preventing these fools from returning.
  20. He didn't 'predict it'... he just repeats it in every thread where a White Foreigner is negatively involved. He's going to be right sometimes - but thats not a prediction, its just a repeated guess.
  21. Sounds like a Geordie to me. 'Ah just wanna go home.' Yep - he definitely sounds British to me too - as you wrote, possibly a Geordie...
  22. No excuses - Places such as Pattaya and Patong attract a higher footfall of a certain demographic... Thats just obvious. Sometimes its the Brits, sometimes its another nationality. You only focus on the British because you are a Bigot. I'm not apologising or making excuses for anyone who behaves poorly such as the the Foreigner in this story (whether he's British or not) - he's an idiot who's behaved terribly... I'm simply calling you out on your unhinged and imbalanced bigotry, you lack the reading comprehension to understand that and instead think any objection to your bigotry is some form of defence of idiots who behave poorly, its not.
  23. I completely agree that 'some British' behave poorly... But to tarnish 'all British' with that negative image is a flawed sweeping generalisation that is wholly inaccurate... Your made up statistic that its 75% of Brits who come to Thailand and behave poorly is ridiculous and something that MalcomB would make up.... I thought you'd evolved from this level of daft bigotry Gottfrid. ... No one of any nationality is insulated from the likelihood that one of their countrymen is an idiot and will do something stupid... MalcomB is claiming he is British in this incarnation of his Aseannow membership... That does not mean all Brits are poorly educated fools with fundamentally flawed mental processing. You don't need to apologies for the Idiots Gottfrid, why would you apologise on behalf of someone you do not know... When a Thai person beats up a foreigner we don't expect all Thai to apologise on their behalf. The only ones who need to apologise are the idiots themselves. I'm happy to distance myself from the British idiots and any Foreign (Farang) idiots who may make the media, safe in the knowledge that intelligent people will not tar a whole nationality or race by the actions of a small minority of idiots.
  24. A broken clock is correct twice per-day. If you rely on your bigotry and shoot off your anti-British rhetoric every time a foreigner is involved in an incident in a place such as Pattaya, you will of course be right 'sometimes'... thats just confirmation bias.
  25. How many children ??.. what kind of car would you suggest she probably drives ???
