  1. So do it! Agreed... And also 'do it' for those riding without helmets or insurance - whether Thai or foreign.
  2. Would this mean you think its ok, IF someone standing / riding on an 'e-scooter' had an accident and did have cover ?
  3. Anything could get hacked - your e-mail server, your one drive, dropbox etc... nothing is perfectly safe online - there are just different degrees of difficulty for strangers to gain access. DropBox - works on whatever ecosystem you are using.
  4. AXA wouldn't insure you for accident before you declared you were on statins ???
  5. Most of them and I am not going to take the risk of taking a policy out then find out later I can’t claim. I had been using AXA for Travel Insurance for years, i told them I was on status, they would no longer insure me. (quote level fixed). You are mixing your melons man... Health Insurance vs Travel Insurance - they are different beasts. Additionally, its seems based on one experience with travel insurance you have drawn a conclusion on all types of health cover. I think there are many folk on statins, I suspect a fair number of posters on this forum might be on statins without their 'Health Insurance' being impacted, or perhaps with a specific exclusion or additional surcharge.
  6. Indeed... and from an insurance perspective, the suggestion that 'most accidents happen due to stupidity' is a pathetic fundamentally flawed sweeping generalisation.. ... Injuries occur from playing sports - thats not stupidity. ... Sickness occurs - regardless of how healthy you are - thats not stupidity. ... Equipment fails - thats not stupidity. In fact, the only stupidity than can be mentioned is the very comment made by that poster.
  7. I have already asked that question of the poster on another thread and got no answer, you will probably be the same. He's just trying to pull peoples chain... Its clear you have no interest in posting any useful detail and are instead 'drip feeding' information as some sort of childish play.
  8. How about a fence of some kind, wouldn't even need to be that high. Then they'd kill themselves riding into the fence. When someone is unable to navigate a curve in the road like that, hitting something else is only a matter of when rather than if...
  9. Really ?? I only recall ever getting one. This thread has more details.. It seems you might be able to get 'stamped copies' from the Amphur office at which you registered your marriage.
  10. I think they really don't care... Just a few weeks ago, I was with my Son, late at night (about 10pm) after watching the football. We'd taken the BTS out of the high-traffic area to avoid taxi-congestion... but it was proving difficult to get a Grab or a Bolt... We walked 10mins up the road, out of the way... and tried again. - we had on driver - about 50m up the road on the opposite side accept the ride. - we waited, waited, waited... no movement, the roads were clear. - I cancelled the booking and tried again. - the same driver accepted the ride, we waited, waited, waited - I could see the car parked up (and MG ZS), no movement, and I didn't want to cross the road with my Son as it was fairly clear and the traffic was moving quickly. I ended up using a different app, and waiting another 15 mins for a vehicle to arrive from a few KMs away. Its a real shame that a 'taxi driver mindset' seems to have slipped into many of those driving for these apps.
  11. I never have any issues with ride hailing apps in other countries that have them... (of the countries I visit). ... except for Thailand and Turkey... whereby for whatever reasons a certain characteristic often surfaces... one where they expect the customer to make it more convenient for them, there is an outright scam running, or the services is often tarnished by a sense of entitlement in the individual service provider. I've lost count of the amount of times I've ordered a Grab or Bolt here... and the driver accepts the ride only to not move at all for an extended period of time... until it becomes obvious to me that they are not infact 'wanting to take the ride' but are forced to take x amount of riders per hour or face some sort of penalty such as loosing their 'service points' etc... So, they wait us out, and for 'us' to cancel as if they cancel too often, they lose a degree of their rating. ... It turns the whole system into a farce...
  12. If the BiB cared for 'safety' they'd be stopping all the motorcyclists riding without a helmet. The reason this guy drew attention is two fold: a) He's a foreigner (non-Thai). b) He's riding something 'different'. I also agree - these things appear far more dangerous than a regular scooter, however, I don't think this is the reason he was 'warned'..
  13. Really ??? every health insurance company you have applied for has rejected your application solely because you are taking statins ???
  14. It doesn't matter... notification of address only has an impact IF you are going to be having any interaction with an immigration office (for an extension of stay etc / or if submitting a 90 day report). Thus - realistically, you only need to do the 'notification' before any such process.
  15. 100%... I refuse to use these moto-taxis unless completely essential.... Trusting my wellbeing to those without eduction who hardly appear to value their own wellbeing seems like madness to me... I'd rather ride myself (when not drinking) otherwise its taxi's all the way. Its been over 5 years since I last rode pillion on a motorcycle - and then, I also asked the moto-taxi to pull over, then asked him to ride more carefully - no issues whatsoever. I'm not sure how calmly or politely this lady asked the rider to be more careful, but it doesn't matter. No matter how she asked him a violent response is not deserved... In fact, given the nature of the response and the rider going from zero to incendiary over something so innocuous, I'd suggest the lady didn't put a foot wrong, she simply had a very very unstable driver.
  16. Truly astonishing.... the mind boggles again... what next, what was she wearing, she had it coming ?
  17. Seriously ??? your take away from all of this is to blame the person who was violently attacked ??? .... the mind really does boggle and the unhinged nature of some of the replies on this forum sometimes.
  18. I'm sure some forum members will be along shortly to make excuses for drink driving and blame speeding !!!
  19. I recommend reading about the difference between imap and pop3. Thank you for your attention. Unless the Op has a 'service provider account'... Its most likely he has an e-mail account accessible from any device, such as g-mail, hotmail, yahoo etc... I think this is most common, particularly for people who have moved around.
  20. I'm not sure what else can be done here.... Some people could accidentally kill themselves in a padded room. ... The u-turn was made as safe as possible, elevating it out of the way of other traffic. The only other option might be a U-Turn tunnel, but tunnelling is 10x more costly than bridging. Sometimes, it just has to be accepted that people take no responsibility for their own safety. How someone manages to 'ride themselves' off a U-Turn bridge is beyond me, unless as already pointed out the deceased was in a state of drunken oblivion.
  21. No - theoretically, they are also illegal as they are not registered, taxed or insured - so if one is involved in an at fault accident with another vehicle there is little room for recourse. Then, as pointed out we have the food-carts, samlors etc... I very much doubt they are insured - but all Thai authorities turn that blind eye... This is also the argument against bicycles sharing the road with other vehicles which have to be registered, taxed and insured.
  22. Okay yourself a sidecar which is totally illegal but yet everybody has one To two tier enforcement is rather obvious in this situation, particularly given the degree of helmetless riding and vehicles without tax stickers etc... so the betting is many (if not most) are also uninsured etc and quite likely most riders on the island unlicensed (but thats just an assumption). Nevertheless, 1 wheeled device is just stupid, especially if being ridden recklessly - so the Police did the right thing. The point of course is their selectiveness when doing the right thing !!! --------- That said, it would be good, particularly in area's such as this to allow electric scooters - its time Thailand offered a way to tax and road legalise many of these - but they also come in such varied form standardised classifications become difficult... But on small roads with (theoretically) slow traffic, this is not an issue. Something like this [below] could be made road legal and offer plenty of convenience from a mobility perspective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhjVjjV-kz0 That said - these scooters are still a lot less stable than a regular scooter - so perhaps maintaining a regular scooter as the 'minimum road legal form of transport' makes sense.
  23. A bit 'nitpickey' those emoji's eh, ravip ????
  24. Its clear you have no interest in posting any useful detail and are instead 'drip feeding' information as some sort of childish play.
