  1. Can't believe they test the brakes.... So much brake failure around !!!
  2. Oh.. I'm no saint, I know that... But I don't sometimes wish a whole nations people dead because I'm upset with one of their countrymen - the statement is idiotic... though I understand why you may wish ill of individuals - tarring the nation with the same sentiment is broken thinking. No royalty or pedestal either, I'm normal like you, I may even make outrageously stupid remarks sometimes... but then expect to get called out for them. I'm trying to work out the rest of your comments, but struggle to piece together the wording - I think you mean... - you had a fight in front of your 10 year old son, didn't 'finish the other guy off' and when your back was turned to attend to your son, you were stabbed by the other guy... Sounds like a horrific situation... but really, how did it escalate to that ? I'm happy to handle any of your criticism, no one is perfect or a saint - I may have over reacted to the stupidity of 'wishing all Thai's dead' comment instead of recognising it for stupid bravado and ignoring it.
  3. Don't big yourself up too much fella... there are plenty of people on here who know how sh!tty the HSE positions are... Or I read the same threads you do... strange that eh - other people seeing and posting in the same thread.... And, if you've seen me 'bouncing from thread to thread' then you have 'bounced' through the very same threads yet consider that ok for you, but not others - rather daft. Both decent sports and fun - football is better though while I'm still not too old to play it. Its amusing that you think both pickle ball and badminton can be played for 10 hours per day and keep someone away from a keyboard !!! Its amusing that you think someone chilling at home doesn't have money or hobbies... again a certain element of arrogance shines through when you think you are 'better' due to having an average HSE position while completely unaware of the (online) company you are in.
  4. " Can you defend yourself " This was too much for you! 🤧 Get a backbone Yawn... if your comment is anything that reflects your true opinions of Thai's... then my description of your comments hold true... .... Remember you wrote: That is simply obnoxious and idiotic..... However, some idiots behave here in Thailand whether Thai or foreign, tarring the whole nation with similar thoughts you expressed suggests a very flawed and imbalanced mindset.
  5. Nice try... but I don't get upset by your pathetic words in quite the same manner you retaliate whenever anyone does not completely agree with your comments... Thats all I was trying to point out.... You are extremely thin skinned and then respond in a pathetically childish manner, accusing others of attacking you when it is clearly you dishing out unintelligent and juvenile attempts to insult others instead of carrying on the discussion. So... on the topic of 'can you defend yourself?'... how about can you defend yourself in a discussion ? - because, so far, the answer is no... you instead cry and then retort exposing the maturity and intellect of an eight year old.
  6. Omg 😳 How do we describe such a statement? Deplorable? Other words please Obnoxiously idiotic...
  7. A lot of flaws in your comments SF... Firstly, many many people are perfectly happy here, nearly as happy, more happy, or equally as happy as you claim to be - you do not have a monopoly on 'foreigner satisfaction or happiness in Thailand, regardless of what you read in a comments on an anonymous forum. Secondly, just like anywhere else, Thailand is imperfect. Its possible to be perfectly happy here while at the same time being of sufficiently balanced mind to be able to identify and discuss faults and flaws alongside the many positives of being here - this is not a binary mindset of 'love it or hate it'. Thirdly, do you perceive any disagreement with your comments as a personal attack. It certainly seems so, you make a claim, enter a debate etc which is perfectly fair, but when faced with an opposing opinion you start complaining someone has 'attacked you' - this is a particularly clever debating technique. Fourthly, your comment [trying to make everyone else miserable] is also flawed, you are here by your own choice, if someone elses' comments make you miserable, thats your own weakness - how do you know negative comments about Thailand make others miserable ?.... ... and finally, no, this is not a personal attack either - but if you think it is, you have very thin skin and need mature a bit... Start with the acceptance that not everyone is the same, there is a spectrum of opinions and experiences here and when they don't agree with yours, its ok - its just 'different' not a personal attack.
  8. What did she expect, she was in a country where they didn't speak thai ? I wonder if you misunderstand what the word 'communication' means...
  9. Unless I missed it, it was not mentioned in the Op but I suspect this was a codeshare flight whereby the tickets were purchased 'through Thai Airways' but the flight was on a different airline - I'm guessing S.A.S... ... And when there was a delay and missed connection S.A.S. could not deal with the re-routing as it was Thai Airways responsibility (according to the ticketing)... BUT... Thai Airways were not prepared, had no one in a position of authority available to attend to the passengers and resolve re-routing / re-ticketing etc - which is the obvious crux of the complaint... As mentioned, this is a good reason not to go on code-share flights.
  10. Ooooooo,i've got a maid and you haven't! Having a maid to clean the room, wash the clothes and Iron - its not anything to brag about, its the norm - thus your response above implies a certain lack of knowledge of how things work here as part of the norm... Frankly, I'm surprised anyone does their own washing and ironing here when there are so many well priced services. You think he married the maid ?
  11. This... very much this IMO... combined with a huge dose of 'attention seeking'... Given many questions - one has to wonder how someone gets to a ripe age when such simplistic points become questions or issues...
  12. I'd be furious IF in the process of having to avoid a psycho-motorcyclist or another vehicle travelling the wrong way down the road (i.e. avoiding a head on collision) that I swerve and cause damage to government property, the authorities are going to come after me for the costs of damage. Dash-Cams - Just another reason to have them.
  13. If it is coming towards you, you can only pass it and NOT overtake it. I figured most people would have understood from the article... that the translation is not the best (as is usual).... and the pickup driver actually meant 'avoid' (as in swerve to pass / avoid / go around the oncoming Motorcycle)... ... Though, more likely, the driver who ended up in a ditch is lying, attempting to save face for his cr*ppy and dangerous driving... I wonder if he was tested for booze and drugs.
  14. Agreed... something is different with the mentality of many on the Thai roads when it comes to the simple application of caution. ... There seems to be some underlying resistance to braking, which in so many of these incidents is taken as a last resort when all other possibilities have been ruled out... Just look at cars approaching a pedestrian crossing - its long been said that 'drivers will speed up' to prevent a pedestrian from crossing, though in reality, the cars will simply not brake... and if you cross they will leave the braking to the last possible moment. In this example: I wonder if there was a bike at all... If there was a bike, was it or the pickup on the wrong side of the road... I've also seen drivers of other vehicles get angry at another driver, they then show their anger by driving in the most erratic fashion... I wonder if the pickup got angry and drove in this highly erratic manner and overcooked it.
  15. Exactly as above... I've used this regulation to claim compensation - though the airlines drag their heels and with Turkish I had to use ADR https://www.aviationadr.org.uk/ As mentioned €600 is the compensation if. - Ticketed distance is greater than 3500 km - Delay is greater than 4 hours - Airline is registered in Europe (and EU Airline) - Travel is into or out of EU Territory Also note: Airlines try to get you to sign a 'cheaper compensation'... Airlines also lie and tell you the delay is less than 3500 km, using one part of the leg of your journey (of a two or multi-leg journey) - but delay is on the 'ticketed distance'... Thus: even if someone flys from Bangkok - Munich - Manchester (for example)... and the Bangkok - Munich leg is fine, but they are then delayed by more than 4 hours on the Munich - Manchester leg, they are still eligible for the full compensation as the 'ticketed distance' is Bangkok - Munich - Manchester. Also note: there are many 'Airline Dispute Resolution Companies' out there online, who will take on your claim with the no win no fee policy, they take anywhere from 20 to 40% of your compensation... these companies are bottom feeders, all they do is use the same 'online resources' which are free and available to all of us (as per the ADR link posted above). Also note: Airline Dispute Resolution Companies deal with different 'groups' of carriers, for example: ADR listed above deals with Turkish and some other EU based airlines, but not Emirates - so we have to search which Dispute Resolution Companies deal with which airlines. https://www.caa.co.uk/passengers-and-public/resolving-travel-problems/how-the-caa-can-help/alternative-dispute-resolution/
  16. When issues occur, the response of airlines is 'always' terrible... ... and considering that 'issues occur' the lack of preparation and extent of disorganisation even amongst reputable airlines is terrible. Turkish Airlines: had a boarding pass, flight over booked - refused boarding at connection. Was offered €250 compensation (if I signed there and then - was told we'd get nothing if we didn't sign - Airline staff lying) - 6 hrs later got to the layover hotel, staff told me it was going to be a 5* hotel, it was a sh** hole (airline staff openly lied again) - travel delayed 24 hrs. Filed a claim with the airline, they refused the claim for compensation. Went through an ombudsman (ADR) - received €600 after 5 months (law states it should take less than a week). Emirates: Major delay (10 hrs), it happens. Missed connection. Taken to hotel after 5hrs messing around at Dubai Airport - Hotel full, messed about for another few hours, taken to another hotel - delayed nearly 48 hrs - Airline tried to pull a fast one and not pay the €600 for my Son. Etihad: Got married, they wanted to charge $200 for a name change (Wife's surname). Eithad: Extreme damage to baggage (push-chair - snapped in half), Airline rejected compensation claim. Ombudsman, took my claim on as a valid claim, Airline rejected the claim for the cost of the pushchair, next step was legal proceedings, not worth it for a £300 pushchair) - never flew the airline again. Thai: Injured overseas (2 days before travel) - needed a wheelchair at airport (couldn't walk - due to leg injury) Airline not responding to e-mails. Unable to get through to right people on call centre (i.e. call was answered, but redirected, no response from people it was redirected to) tried a few times, time being wasted - Wife pulled connections and got it sorted through a friend, worked out in the end, without Wife's connections I would not have got through to Thai and would have struggled through the airport. Qatar Airlines (Covid times) thailand announced it would open boarders - I was naive and bought a ticket. Thailand's borders didn't open - I contacted airline, they'd sold a ticket on a route that was not open. Asked for refund, refused, they said they couldn't refund until flight was cancelled, ask them to list 'any flight' into Bangkok which had not been cancelled in the past week - my flight date approached, 2 days before theoretical travel date Airline cancelled the flight - took 5 months to get a refund, I had to threaten legal action as they only wanted to give a partial refund (*70%) - got the full refund. In short - contrary to their marketing about what a wonderful service is provided - Airlines have some of the worst customer service of any industry when the metric is how things are handled when things go wrong - they lack organisation and even though plans are always in place to account for delays etc (deals with hotels etc) - the messing around takes way too long, the staff are not wholly honest... ... the worst part of all of the issues is the terrible communication - People understand that issues exist - its the unclear, poor, delayed or non-existent communication that winds people up - and this often borders on dishonesty as they airline attempts to minimise their exposure instead of owning the issue as they are legally responsible to do.
  17. You're very lucky he didn't have a tactical pen !!!
  18. A bit vague there - how much is affordable (to you), where are you ? I thought most Moobans have a general rule that Dogs cannot be walked off-leash and not allowed to 'roam freely'... AND.. if they do, complaints can be made to the juristic committee. Of course, then it matters how effective the juristic committee are at resolving such issues. I don't mind dogs - so long as owners are responsible, they pickup their dog litter etc... But, I would want to be in a Moobaan that does not allow dogs that would be considered dangerous (and feel it perfectly acceptable to use lists from other countries such as the UK's dangerous dogs list - so they can legislate what to ban). For what its worth - I've not seen a dog off leash in my moobaan... and if I did, I'd get involved with dealing with the issue.
  19. Individuals involved / participants.... No.. Lets call a spade a spade... Murderers who were carrying and discharging firearms in public and beating someone to death.
  20. I quite agree... they have no need for lighters... They can start a fire with an ice cube !!!!
  21. Which he can ask in 7-11... i.e. I want 30 days... with phone use and 10 GB of data lasting 30 days etc... (or something similar). the info is there on the Websites too... the packages are extremely cheap. https://www.true.th/prepaid/add-on-package
  22. The average IQ of the truck driver here must be incredibly low (a Thai Bash ?.. perhaps, or just a Thai Truck Driver Bash)... .... Just this week alone there has been 'traffic mayhem' at the entrance to the toll booth near the port in Bangkok... ... Articulated trucks are not permitted on the expressways - yet twice this week we've been held at traffic Jams as a truck is stopped at the tollbooth, the driver clearly not knowing he's not permitted to use the expressway... the result is traffic backed up and it takes an age for the truck to be able to reverse out of the way and clear the traffic.
  23. Perhaps they'd have been 'less stunned' if laws were enforced and owners of such trucks were held accountable for their vehicles being unroadworthy... they can check the brakes too !!!
  24. When a friend visitied - he went to 7-11... told them what he wanted the SIM for.. (Local Calls and data)... purchased the SIM and a pre-paid package... The 7-11 staff loaded everything up for him and he was set (the staff in places like 7-11 are usually extremely helpful if they are not busy and over-run with customers and have a spare few moments).
  25. This has to be one of the hardmen on this thread.. . Blink and you'll miss it... .mp4
