Indeed... After initially agreeing pre-authorising a procedure, payment was later rejected by my insurance company because there was a 5 year moratorium (on Renal issues)... Even though the procedure was more than 5 years after I'd had a kidney stone, insurance refused to pay up, because in my medical notes, from a routine medical check up (about) 4.5 years before hand there was a comment that 'no evidence or previous stone in left kidney' (or words to that effect). ... The insurance claimed this was a pre-existing condition that fell within the moratorium - I countered that a comment referring to the 'absense' of a condition is not the condition itself, however, they continued to object to my claim. I ended up paying the 130,000 baht myself a few months later as the hospital started putting pressure on me to pay out (letters suggesting they would take legal action if I didn't pay).

Watch: Spanish Police Boat Slices Through a Migrant Speed Boat
richard_smith237 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It does not appear that the Police vessel deliberately 'slices through' the migrant boat... It appears that the Police vessel was 'blocking' the migrant boat and the migrant boat pulled turned across the bow of the Police vessel... the rest was unavoidable. Strong Policing such as this is necessary - it is the 'softness' which has enable such situations to escalate to the current levels - in effect, soft policing (and policy making) has created the very need for an extreme response. -
Possibilities here... 1) 3am - Both likely to have been drinking 2) Fast Car - likely speeding 3) Motorcyclist in Thailand - Riding without lights 4) Motorcyclist in Thailand - Riding in wrong direction 5) Motorcyclist in Thailand - Pulled out in front of car without looking Of course, none of the above can be proved - but to anyone who has spent any time here a minimum of 3 of the above possibilities are quite likely to have occurred. The real surprise here is that the Porsche driver didn't flee.

I disagree... Parking like that, they clearly have a disability - but its one that should prevent them from driving in the first place.

If it's that much of a paradise Island-- there should be tourist all year round. .... Never heard of a high and low season ?

I doubt this is the Op's only source of information - I imagine that as he has posted on here he's spreading the net far and wide, looking for recommendations for his labor source. Its the same posts asking where to find a good maid etc... People who ask about Dr's on this forum are not looking for Doctors 'on' this forum, but for recommendations - this is similar. The Op was also clear - Masseuses +40 (no extra's)... wink emoji or not, his comment leaves little room for doubt. The only think I can think of is actually going to have a massage and asking the masseuses directly - if they are interested, if they know anyone etc.

There are racists in the UK - as there are in every country - but you'll need a bit more evidence than that to suggest that the UK is a racist country. Particularly as the nation which put an end to world slavery, cost Britain 40% of its National Budget at the time (1833), that money borrowed to compensate slave owners as part of the Slavery Abolition Act was not paid back until 2014, In effect the many UK Citizens still living have helped pay for the end of the slave trade with their taxes. What other countries could say that. The UK is not a racist country - but its one whose populace is become tired of having its identity stripped.

Teeth Whitening Bangkok, recent info
richard_smith237 replied to TheLaughingMan's topic in Health and Medicine
This has prevented me from getting further teeth whitening... I have veneers... which of course will not whiten, and surrounding teeth would be whiter. That said: the veneers are now about 15 years old and online info suggests they will need replacing soon anyway. -
I didn't see where the Op said the truck was 'speeding' - nevertheless, its impossible for bystanders to judge speed in such situations - guesses are usually way off. From the video it doesn't appear that the truck is speeding... Of course, but a heavily laden truck can't be driven everywhere at 15kmh incase a motorcyclist pulls out - thus, so long as it is within the legal speed limit then others also have to take account of their road behavior. Completely agree... So very tragic - one of the parents lost two children and their father.. and all because its become the norm when driving / riding here that slowing to a stop at a junction is the last resort not the first.

What does your go bag look like?
richard_smith237 replied to Chris Daley's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
PKK ... Land of Pineapples. All my postings, thought that was common knowledge ... ... guess not Fair enough - there I am back-tracking on the 'surf comment' then... Though I'd be more concerned about the bag getting stolen off the beach, you can't swim / surf with it... -
Teeth Whitening Bangkok, recent info
richard_smith237 replied to TheLaughingMan's topic in Health and Medicine
If going for home treatment - its quite 'time consuming' - i.e. twice a day for two weeks then weekly 'top up'... This Colgate LED Teeth Whitening Kit is an example and used in the UK..... But I'm not sure of availability here... Given the prices of teeth whitening at a more 'normal dentist' in Bangkok, then I can see why 'home treatment' my not be considered worth while. https://shop.colgate.com/products/optic-white-comfort-fit-teeth-whitening-device-and-kit -
Teeth Whitening Bangkok, recent info
richard_smith237 replied to TheLaughingMan's topic in Health and Medicine
I think this process is extremely common now and pretty much any 'decent' dentist can carry out this simple procedure as a simple 'walk-in'... So I guess you are looking for recommendations of 'decent dentist' in Bangkok - there will be plenty of experience as dentistry in Thailand is generally of a high standard. Thantakit Dentist at All Seasons Place: priced at 10,000 baht for whitening. https://www.thantakit.com/our-services/zoom2-tooth-whitening/ Quite likely at the higher end of the price range for whitening - nevertheless, this place comes well recommended. There is also 'The Smile Bar': priced at 2400-5800 baht. https://www.the-smile-bar.com/?gad_source=1 -
Do you use 'skins' when you run and exercise... even when sitting and waking around ? If not, give them a try... I find them excellent to receive pressure on the legs, I wear them when chilling around the house and sometimes when sleeping if I've been on my feet all day...

Agreed - the check-in processes themselves (in most airports world wide) seem wholly inefficient, although 'online check-in and automated bag-drop' is improving that in many Airports world wide, but its only an improvement because its fairly new and many don't want to use this so there are rarely queues. Agreed - This seems to be a game Immigration have been playing for a long time.... Reports / complaints of long queues at immigration have been on-going for decades. Immigration Claim they cannot get the numbers (not enough trained Immigration staff) - the reality IMO is somewhat different... ... The Immigration division of the RTP want 'more money' from AOT to make 'movements through the Airport more smooth'.... they could put more officers on desks, but they won't... Additionally, its clear 'shift patterns' are not tied to flight arrivals as sometimes there a huge queues and at other times the queues very little. Solving this problem would include AOT paying Immigration for overtime (for its officers) and then some form of 'encouragement' for Immigration to 'take a greater interest' in ensuring its Immigration Counters are 'well managed' (or better managed) as things stand it would appear there is little incentive for improvement beyond a 'one off visit' by an ousted PM (Sretha)... Such as ??... Once actually at the counters the Process itself always seems fairly smooth, except for those who may be gaming the system with repeat Visa Exempt entries or too many back to back Tourist Visas etc.

Phuket taxi driver tussle turns streets into a brawl zone (video)
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
"The altercation began when the 'tourists' leaned against the parked taxi while waiting for a ride back to their hotel and the taxi driver then 'asked' them to move" .... Taxi driver asked them to move ?? - that one's been polished a bit !!... I very much doubt the taxi drive was a measure of polite respectfulness.... ... That said, leaning on anyone's vehicle is a no-no... I'm sure such arrogant behaviour of the tourists enraged the taxi driver... and drivers in that area are known for their hair-trigger.... So.. my only surprise here - Thai taxi drivers in an altercation were they were out numbered. -
I'm only doubting the measurement of 100m which led to KhunBENQ's comment that the lorry driver 'had time to avoid impact'.... Looking at the timing in the Vid I don't think the lorry was 100m when the motorcyclist simply failed to stop and continued out into a road on which a a heavy truck was travelling). As the lorry enters the 'screenshot' it is about 12m away from the motorcycle - this is why I suspect the distance of 100m quoted in the article is mistaken - it is also common for people to 'guess distances' in emotionally charged situations such as this and be quite inaccurate... Thus: I suspect the lorry was about 20m away, possibly 30m away - the lorry driver really didn't have a chance. What the video also shows, is that the lorry driver attempted to avoid the collision by veering to the right, when had he 'continued straight on' its possible he would have missed them. Thats not to blame the lorry driver, non of this was his fault IMO - this is a tragic consequence of an inexperienced young rider failing to stop and look at a junction.

IF the photo in the Article is a real capture from CCTV it would appear that 100m is a gross over-estimation.... and 20m was perhaps the space given. Then there is this... such behavior seems so common, yet is so inexplicable. Why oh why indeed. Such needless loss occurring with such frequency - I know the underlying causes of so many incidents nationwide are multiple and varied - but surely better road education is towards the top of that list - Yet, why is the government doing nothing about educating its populace on basic safety... (rhetorical). - Road safety - Electrical safety - Water safety That won't stop all tragic incidents, but a education alone an surely save significant lives.

Because we're all suspicious fools.... and rightly or wrongly so we suspect that some of us identify that this is not a simple bid for a building to be turned into flats, but a bid to 'point score' in the battle between Christianity and Islam... ... One more step in a battle many of us don't really identify with or recognise, but at some point will ultimately see as a growingly problematic situation, one which is now witnessed in cities across the UK and an element of segregation is developing rather than the serendipitous cosmopolitan nature we expect of cities in a well developed nation. Turn it into a block of flats - we have a housing shortage, not a Muslim shortage in the UK. Apologies if that seems islamaphobic - but it is... its a difficult conversation to have, but I am finding a growing dislike in the manner by which British identity is being eroded in the UK city centres and major towns due to fear of appearing 'Islamaphobic'... never before has there been a better time in the UK for a minority to grow towards a threatening majority than the current day political correctness and wokeness further enables.. and if that sounds harsh its meant to... ... I can't speak out publicly, for I'll get called racist and Islamaphobic... Yet I can sit in a cafe in Jakarta, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, KL, Doha, Istanbul, Sulaymaniyah and discuss these issues (quietly) and find mutual agreement with my Muslim friends... the Islam they see in the British news is not the Islam they practice. The UK is facing a degree of extremism which is a departure from the moral standards of many of my muslim friends, more general than that, the standards are a departure from those of any friend, no matter culture, colour, creed or education and that is frightening - and its led by people wanting to possess a Church, for they see it as some kind of Islamic win.... ... I've worked over enough of the world to news like this for what it is... At least others are seeing through the facade... Example at hand... Hagia Sophia in Istanbul - an incredible structure, once a Church, now a Mosque, open to all visitors - at one point a symbol of peace and mutual respect across a religious divide - open for all to respect and witness the architectural might... and now, Non Muslims cannot enter the ground floor but are forced to walk around a viewing balcony on the second floor... (that happened in the last couple of years) - but is a measure of the strangle-hold with which Islam is starting grasping at the throat of the West... and this attempt to purchase a church is similar... As already mentioned - there's a housing crisis - turn it into flats !!!...

…reckon I can top that… After doing the in-class tests etc… next was a long wait to collect the actual Driving License… a long queue ahead, I took the queue ticket & went for a massage… … came back a couple of hours later, my queue number passed some time before, I was directed to the next available official & processed….
