  1. Who is the agent ? Remax or someone like that ? Its in their interest not to obtain a negative name pushing things that are outside of the contract. The properties I've rented have been of the same price range - I once had about 10,000 baht removed because of a dent in the fridge door and scratches on the glass hob cooking surfaces - the landlady was extremely fair and took the time to find the best priced replacements (i.e. not replacing a whole fridge, but just getting work men round to remove the dent in the fridge door, the hob was replaced, but just the top glass part) this was more work for the landlady than just getting new ones, but her reputation and that of the property agent seemed to matter to them - I received 130,000 of my 140,000 deposit back. Thus: IF the agent is forcing something that is not in the contract, then he is in breach of the contract. 1) Getting the AC cleaned (in Bangkok you can get this done for 500 per AC) PM for a contact if you wish. 2) Getting the place professionally cleaned - there are online services, they may also run deep clean on the curtains and furniture etc. 3) Professionally cleaned Bedding - I'm not even sure what this means to be fair (laundry service). Perhaps reach out to the agent and ask specifically what they mean as the instruction are rather vague.
  2. Most farang gf/wifes have more or less searched out foreigners for a reason, and to say it in a proper Your generalisation perhaps highlights the earlier 'sensitivity' surround the approach and avoidance of discussion of the backgrounds of partners of others in your social circle... In all the examples I know, I would disagree that the 'farang gf/wives' have more or less searched out foreigners for a reason.... i.e. there was not this 'targeted approach' you imply. This may be more a geography and age thing - I'm not sure... But, of those close to me, the meeting and interaction has been no different from Thai's meeting each other... .. i.e. introductions through work colleagues, friends etc and yes, also on nights out - but the females in question are not those who would 'actively search out foreigners'... ... those types of girls; I earlier referred to them as occupational farang hunters... would be avoided by most of those who I know as the girl would would only date a foreigner is 'somewhat of a red flag'... You have bar girls who just do kot want to interact with bar other bar girls 😄 Just let's say, city girls often do not have any common with farmer girls. Both can have a history either as a bar or freelance, sometimes in combination with other work/occupation. Socio-economic-edicational dymamics - Thai's can be polite, but they struggle to mix with comfort across the divide...
  3. Did you deserve it ?? Are you suggesting that all victims of scams now deserve being scammed ? But first of all... who gets out of their car at a gas station in Thailand ???? - I never have.
  4. You won't be saying that when your face is mashed in, in fact you won't be saying anything. I suspect he's one of those geniuses who would say... .... 'Managed to go my whole life without needing a seatbelt.'.... ....Though that involves words with too many syllables... 'Disabled those <deleted>' is more fitting for the socio-phonetics of the cerebrally challenged."
  5. Good points... But that suggests that any foreigner held for a court appearance (on bail, visa cancelled pending trail) would be automatically deported whether convicted or not, so there only needs to be the 'accusation' and 'visa cancelled pending bail' to turn any conflict into a win... due to the 'overstay risk'. Surely in such circumstances extensions of stay filed ? ----- In this case, I'm not so sure his visa was cancelled - it was that little racists vermin Anuthin who was shooting his mouth off about revolking the Swiss-mans visa rights - which, if I'm not mistaken might actually be illegal without judicial process.
  6. What would you do if someone spoke to your Wife like that ??? The keyboard warrior in me would suggest that had that been my wife sat there and the guy walks up and abuses her like that there would be retribution.... ... And there still maybe, as while he has been acquitted of assault, his business dealings were brought into question - and that may see his visa rights disintegrating.
  7. I've no idea and couldn't care less, whatever happens in Gaza is the fault of the Israeli's in my opinion. So you are closed off to the reallity... ... 6000 Gazans breaching the border in 119 places.... ... Hamas mudering 101 hostages... .... 11239 Genocidal Massacre of Israeli's by Hamas on October 7th, 2023... .... Closed off to the barage of 4300 rockets launched by Hamas against Israel on the same day... And thats all the fault of the Israeli's... Right oh... At least you are so clearly on the side of being completely unknowledgeable and delusional its easy to write you off as someone not bothering to enter any further discussion with... as in your own words... 'you couldn't care less'... i.e. your are blaming Israel whatever the facts or history highlights.
  8. They often ask you to turn off your car when pumping gas - so yo don't see the gauge increase. Its only after you turn on the engine again and wait for the gauge to recognise the increase in fuel or not, that its possible to tell - by which time many have driven off and not looked. One of my previous cars used to take about 60 seconds for the 'fuel needle' to start increasing.
  9. This is an 'oldie'... What used to happen, is that the 'pump attendant' would not zero the pump which would continue to show the previous volume and price - i.e. 5 litres / 180 baht... and then continue to pump a further 25 litres (into a car of course)... charging for the 180 baht for 30 litres and profiting the 180 baht... There used to be many comments on this forum about that, with naming and shaming of some notorious gas stations.... and the advice, always watch to see if the pump attendant zero's the machine. It used to be a relatively common scam... certainly enough for there to have been a few threads on here in the past.
  10. Then aren't you judging ???... otherwise you wouldn't have to tip-toe around the possibility that the other girls were / are ho's or ex ho's... I know what all of my friends Wive's & GF's do - because there is no question of their 'virtue' (for want of a better phrase). Its not important... until it is.... ... its clear there are many successful relationships where the guy is with an ex BG... its those pulling the wool over their own eyes that draw some mirth.
  11. Tattoos are not the 'giveaway' they used to be. I know some folks (male and female) who would be considered 'hi-so' by the Thai's around them... They have Tattoo's. One of the Lads has Tattoo's that are quite impressive - his family are loaded, he is loaded, he's also a very stylish fella and his tattoos really suit his image. Others are young females (daughters of friends of my Wife) - they have some tatts (seem them when we've holidayed on the beach) - these girls went to the best Int'l school in Bangkok are now at Top Rated Universities Overseas. Of course - much of this depends on the quality of the Tattoo, behavior of the people in question etc... its a package thing... The 'slutty tatts' observed in bars or on some people walking around are a dead giveaway... but the simple fact of just having a tattoo isn't.
  12. There a certain 'cottaging' vibe to that response that I'm sure was unintentional !!! ... of course, I get your point... too many times I've foundmyself wonder around looking for a 'clean loo'... There have been bathrooms I dare not enter without enclosed footwear !!.. I used say - the moment we cross the boarder into Malaysia, the mount of water on the floor and everywhere else tripples... Thailand toilets were bad in the south, in Malaysia they were awful (20 + years ago that is)... Its the same in Indonesia (in any toilet used by the public ) - there is always water all over the floor, even in the higher end Malls. Its the same at Suvarnabumi airport... People manage to pis$ all over the floor. The toilet habits of the majority of the worlds population leaves a lot of be desired of a so called civilisation.
  13. , sometimes. Yeah.... 'sometimes' when forced to uphold justice by the media or social media who seem to be doing a better job of investigating and obtaining facts...
  14. Just 'clicked to view' your post to check if your posting habits and attitudes had evolved... ... clearly not...
  15. Agreed... Or he fell asleep... Hopefully the 'driver aids' on newer cars will see such accidents reduced (our car alerts the driver if approaching another car too quickly and if we don't react and are going to hit it, the brakes will be applied).... This is an example of where such tech saves lives. In this case - defensive driving is also absent - both sets are cars in the right most lane... Perhaps because they wish to avoid the motorcycles who pull out from the left without looking etc. One other point - Were the people in all cars wearing seatbelts - it is so common that seatbelts are not worn here, so my 'guess' is not and that seatbelts would have been a life-saver in this incident (can't be sure of that of course, nevertheless, I'm betting no seat-belts worn). FiL just had an accident, air-bags went off - no seatbelt, he was hurt a bit, no seatbelt made the impact worse as the air-bag threw him back. He still doesn't wear a seatbelt in his car, yet oddly enough in our car (even in the rear seats) they belt up (perhaps not so oddly, I refuse to move unless the seatbelts are on, so its now habit for the inlaws).
  16. The destination is not really that subtle in Thailand: 1) Hookers - no dressing that one up (any girl who works in the bar scene) 2) Ex Ho's - no dressing that one up either (any girl who worked in the bar scene) 3) Occupational Farang Hunters - Girls who look specifically 'only' for foreign guys 4) Gold Diggers - Girls who specifically seek out wealthy guys (Thai or Western) 5) Regular Women - Honest intentions, educated, financially independent etc
  17. ... and if your child was slapped by a teacher (hard enough to bleed) then see how you feel about it.... ... until then your comments are just irrelevant noise which appear deliberately placed to trigger argument.
  18. The Nationality of the teach is irrelevant, other than perhaps the 'media stir' that we can't have a foriegner slapping our Thai children, that behavior is reserved for Thai teachers... ... but realistically - in any school, all over Thailand, no matter the type of school or nationality of the teacher, any slapping, hitting, hair pulling etc is assault and a) the teachers should be punished and b) all teachers should know that they 'will' be punished if resorting to violence in the class room. I'm sure there are many of us on here who if our children's teacher took to physical punishment (i.e. slapping, hitting, hair pulling) we may very well respond in kind.
  19. Play the game then.... Clean the AC yourself (just the outer filters - when you lift up the front) - Make your own receipt. Clean the Bed Sheets in your own washer, iron them and fold them - Make your own receipt. Clean the Property from Top to Bottom - Make your own receipt.
  20. He's lucky the shards didn't cut his femoral artery (though thats more to the front). Razor sharp stuff.... (splintered porcelain )... As other have pointed out, I wonder if he was 'sat squat' (as the above picture depicts)... or if the toilet itself was simply very wobbly. I've sat on a few 'unstable loos' in my time here - one of them last week was quite wonky, had a loose seat and a wet floor... one to be avoided, but when needs must.... It lead to a balancing act that turned a simple experience a somewhat perilous endeavour, though I there was greater concern for my clothing than a collapsing bowl. Over the years toilets in Thailand, specially Bangkok have significantly improved, not quite at the level of the 'Japan experience' nevertheless, getting 'caught out while out' is not longer the concern it once was when looking a clean 'Western toilet' that doesn't have water all over the floor or pish all over the seat... In Turkey recently - both my Son and I refused 3 bathrooms due to being filthy before finding a hotel and 'having a coffee'... and of course using the facilities - I'm glad that for the most part Thailand has evolved beyond that towards the more civilised part of the 'bathroom spectrum'...
  21. Due to the blood (I assume - usually they'd just grey out the image).
  22. He's allowed to do that repeatedly if necessary... That doesn't make him a nice man, but shouting at people in an aggressive manner is not illegal. I initially thought that there was clear video evidence of the Swiss-man kicking the Thai lady in the back - this was not the case. I most definitely agree with you, had these two been larger males the situation would quite likely never have existed, or the tables would be turned significantly. The facet of this 'confrontation' which made this news worth is the 'social value' Thai's place on Doctors - had the lady on the steps been an office worker there would not have been the media outrage to bring this our screens in the first place, thus, no police attention and no further response. I have to agree with LL and a few others on this one. As much as it 'sits against' my ideals, there was no legal way of proving the assault and thus in court its a 'he said she said' - I'm still surprised that given the media attention earlier protests that this led to an acquittal.
  23. Ask yourself why this wealthy business man in an illegal mansion is found not guilty by a Thai court. I first have to ask why its an Illegal Mansion ?
  24. Fair enough - it was over 10 years since 'we' conceived there... no such certification required at that time - clearly the policies have come in over time then.
  25. I just completed this quiz. My Score 90/100 My Time 90 seconds
