  1. Could your 'go bag' also be called your 'completely f***ed bag' ???... .. If you lose it going to Makro, 7-11, coffee-shop, the park, or someone steels it while you are in the famous Kanchanaburi Surf....
  2. As with soi dogs - the issue gets out of hand through carelessness... .. In this case the carelessness is people feeding them and attracting elevated populations beyond what are natural in the wild (through additional available food sources)... Then there is no 'natural restrictor' on population growth and things get out of hand.... As with Soi Dogs - the only solution becomes culling and heavily controlling the numbers.
  3. True, I've no idea why I read that as Retarded rather than Retired..... I'll ask Dr. Freud....
  4. Because there has to a 'because'... they can't deny someone without reason, and 'insufficient funds' is an easy reason to state officially.... as in.... "we do not consider yourself a genuine tourist, because you have insufficient funds"
  5. Jerk. Go away Apologies a very childish thing of me to do, though did leave the door wide open.... just banter chappy... But, what relevance does 'not wearing a watch in 20 years' have with this a thread ? Much in the same way.... on a thread about cars and 'which car to get', someone state's "never needed a car for the last 20 years"... So.. coming onto a thread about watches and then making such an irrelevant remark and not expect a little light ribbing for the pointlessness and irrelevance of the remark... hhhmmm... there has to be better retort than go away....
  6. Oh... could this be the first time a Kuwaiti has been in the news here for 'razzing himself instead of a motorcycle' !!!!!
  7. Help me out here. I'm not following. I thought we were playing a game of ... 'Can you make a wholly unintelligent, irrelevant and pointless remark ?'.... You're on a streak....
  8. Need glasses? https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/retired Nope: when I look up the word.... https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/retarded
  9. I rarely use my mobile. I'm retired! 5555 Ohh.. it is game of that... So... in that case... "Who needs a watch?, I use my Computer!"
  10. I know... you spelt that wrong...
  11. Certainly one without a Calendar.... you considered it important enough to post on a 1022 day old thread..
  12. "Who needs a watch?, I use my mobile!" ... that response, just incase were playing a game of 'Can you make a wholly unintelligent, irrelevant and pointless remark ?'....
  13. Why "questionable"? They have money, or they would be sleeping outdoors and not eating. They would not be here "working illegally," as an under-the-table job here pays for six 10-hr days what one day pays back home at McDonalds. Yet how many people are here working illegally.... You, of course, have forgotten that the regulations are not solely by nationality... but generalised and thus must be fit for numerous nationalities, whatever the expected home income.... Besides, your point is made moot by how many 'westerners' work here on a tourist / retirement - Non-Imm O and Elite Visas.... Valid point - then give out 10 year Visa's like the US does.... But, still what about those coming here to work ?... should you also not care about the Thai's who's jobs foreigners may take ?.... OK, you mentioned wealthy nations only... Which are ? (include Russia ? China ? Korea ? etc.... there are already massive issues with people from those nations taking the Tourist Guide jobs etc... Westerners, neighbouring migrant labourers or both ? Elite is a complete and total rip-off. "Investment" is set unreasonasbly high. Fortunately, there is now the DTV, and I expect many will switch to this, as the terms are better. Elite is valuable to the right people.... DTV - its yet to be seen if after the given 180 days, can someone extend it for another 180 days, and so on for 5 years ?? - and... ... its yet to be seen 'who' will be considered legitimate - i.e. the Caveat is already out there 'it is unlikely that you will qualify for the DTV Visa Thailand if the Thai authorities do not consider your foreign employer to be “legitimate' - This visa may expect overseas employer letters etc (for 'digital nomads') to be able to show documentation of employer etc.. Meanwhile those taking courses (muay Thai, cooking, Semiars etc) would be expected to show poof of that. I don' think the DTV will be attainable for many. "Abused" how? Competing with immigrants from neighboring countries to mop-floors and work on fishing boats? If Westerners are working here, they have a work-permit and appropriate-visa included. No they don't [all working Westerners don't have a work-permit] - who did you think the DTV you mentioned above was going to be used by - All those who are here under variable visa's playing the markets, working remotely, Agreed (to the abused point), but if those enforcing the law were able to stop all this - then would the Thai's do the job? and if so, how much more would it cost the businesses ? (part of the cost: - how much more would that would impact the Thai Economy, local products became more costly, business importing from overseas, supermarkets source from overseas.. farms can't afford to pay their workers, what they expect because the produce is coming from overseas. Farms shut down, no work... what do the workers do ?... Or the workers will have to work. perhaps with Govt subsidy, but what about trade agreements with other ASEAN nations ?..... but the rates would still be low... (we'd end up with tonnes of rice we can't sell again !)... So... no, migrant labourers don't push down the rates/wages, not by too much... but allowing skilled labour will, especially if that 'skilled Labor' is from country whose people is more poorly paid... Agreed - more income from foreign (incoming) spending has strong impact - but most of that is 'real tourism'. I do agree, make it far easier for the legitimate 'digital nomads' working from overseas 'operations' etc to stay here, they are effectively brining money into Thailand, rather than re-spending money gained in Thailand...
  14. But, remember to set it to record when back in the car with the missus... ... So that you can replay where she said.... .... "yadda-yadda-yadda happened", instead of... .... "badda-Badda-Badda happened".... and when you get confused and start the age old debate of "you said"..... no I didn't"... you can play back the video prove yourself right, royaly-pish her off ensuring you wont get dinner, then you can go out with your mates to the pub !!!... ----------- Also, have one with an SD card - Its easier to discard the SD card on which the recording of you doing '220kmh on the expressway before wiping out'... !! I recently had an accident (not driving or riding) while going way too fast... (no in a car or on a motorcycle)....... Had the insurance been able to get hold of the footage (i.e. GoPro or similar), I'm sure they'd have cancelled the payout for my treatment and surgery... The same could happen with a car-cam... of course the other car driver may have their recording, but it won't record you doing 55 in a 50, or 90 in an 80 kmh zone etc... and thus placing you at blame etc...
  15. As per above: Warning: (on Lazada and shopee) - two separate pacakges are sold. 1) Forward (only) 2) Forward + Rear (and others which included an SD card / size etc) So... be careful not to think you are getting a great deal, then find out you only receive the front cam - Double check exactly what the order is.
  16. Having had dash-cams in my last 5 cars... I can recommend Xiaomi. I had BlackVue dashcams which at the time IMO had the best options, IMO, Xiaomi are now comparable to the top dash-cams at a better price point. I currently have the Xiaomi 70mai Pro (which is about 5 years old now) and works well (I hope, I've had no reason to download the footage for a while). Its important to have a Dash-Cam that records both forward and rear facing for obvious reasons. All Dash-Cams I've installed myself and have been an easy install. Simply - running the 12v plug supply through the upholstery and the rear-cam also through / tucked under the upholstery - very easy to do yourself - the trickiest part is running the rear dash-cam through the 'connecting gaskets on an SUV' (so that the cam sticks in the rear window without hanging wires). Another interesting Cam is the Xiaomi 70mai Dash Cam Omni - this is a 360 degree camera - but is somewhat misleading... as it 'turns the cam' to capture the footage on impact (i.e. just after an impact, so it wont capture the actual impact, but will still capture proof). I think we are actually not far off getting a front positioned and rear positioned 180+ cam - that would give us a combined 360 degree coverage. Questions are always asked of Forward and Rear facing dash cams - what happens if someone hits me from the side ?... Whatifery comes into this thinking a lot, at the moment I'm not sure every eventuality can be covered. Advice: (IMO of course) This is probably once of the best you can get: 70mai A810 Dash Cam 4K Built-In GPS Full HD WDR 70 Mai Car Camera wifi กล้องติดรถยนต์ ควบคุมผ่าน APP รับประกันศูนย์ไทย 3ปี This is probably the most reasonably priced for quality you can get: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/70mai-a500s-pro-plus-dash-cam-1944p-rc11-built-in-gps-27k-full-hd-wdr-carcam-100-i5171451718-s21915854753.html? Warning: particularly with Xiaomi dash cam sales (on Lazada and shopee) - they sell both Forward facing only and Forward+Rear facing cam packages... So, don't think you are getting a great deal, then find out you only receive the front cam.
  17. I wanted to write a post like this, but just couldn't be bothered because facts seems to see people being accused of being on the fringes of being a denier or brainwashed... So here is your posted - with my points added (applogies for the plagiarism). Examples: - Great lakes were supposed to have dried up a few years ago but instead recorded their highest levels in recorded history. (Agreed) - Ice caps gone, infact they are some times growing in some areas and these area are simply ignored. (Completely agree - Areas of glacier growth and ice-cap growth are never mentioned in MSM) - Try listening to real climate scientist's with no skin in the Hoax. (Their complex understanding is too difficult for many to comprihend, its easier to believed dumbed down simplicity of the alarmism - In 2006 sea-levels will rise by 20 ft in the near future [Al Gore] ) - The term " global warming was debunked several years ago and the cult changed their narrative to "climate change" yes the thing that's been going on since the beginning of time. (Completely agree - the shift change was quite amusing for those of a sceptical mind and ignored by the convinced) - Ice ages, CO2 levels 3 times higher than now (I suppose the dinosaurs didn't have electric cars). (Agreed- Miocene (5-23.5 Million Years ago) = 400-500ppm / Oligocene (23.4-35. Million Years ago: 500-1000 ppm) - More CO2 = more plant growth which = more O2 = bigger herbivores which = bigger carnivores. (Agreed - more plant growth / greater crop production - its more complex than that though, but fundamentally, yes). - The big shiny thing in the sky effects climate 97 percent plus and we specs effect climate less than 1%. (Agreed - amazing what an impact the moon has on the earth !!! - less, laughing at climate alarmists here). - One large volcano spews out in minutes what man produced in years. (not on a yearly basis though - on average man produces more CO2 than volcanoes, though a Volcanoe of such size to spew out more CO2 than mans contribution would also have 'other impacts' and lead to partial extinction events - due to excess dust in the atmosphere, place the earth into a global winter type scenario). - What is on the earth stays here all that changes are forms, example iron ore becomes iron but eventually will go back to iron ore in time... (Heat escapes - we / the earth is slowly cooling) - Try thinking for yourself and ask simple questions! But, once in the Hoax Cult you never leave as the reality of stupidity is a hard cross to carry... (Man is impacting the increase of CO2 into the atmosphere - i.e. from about 280ppm (pre-industrial revolution) to about 415ppm today - measured at Antarctica... ... but, what I want to know is how much Atmosphric CO2 was present in habitable portions of the earth pre-industrial revolution and now). There is a lot more to ask and answer - but the issue is so politicised and so many studies funded with a political or personal agenda its impossible to know the true facts. As has already been written on this thread - I'd prefer to do my own tests and believe my own eyes.
  18. +1 a valid perspective which highlights one of the reasons for the apathy or the Police Force here. Another one... If we had to get out of our air-conditioned police box into the humid heat to fine the numerous (often 50%) of riders without a helmet, would we do it ???... .... I've never understood why they don't as it could be quite a money maker. I was at the lights on an intersection entering Sukhumvit Rd in Bangkok the other day about 20 motorcyclists waiting at the lights, perhaps 7 or 8 of them without helmets... ... on the Sub-Soi's its less than 50% wearing helmets I reckon. ... on my Sub-Soi its about 25% wearing helmets !!!... (I reckon). And thus: the link to this thread - Would a decent helmet have made a difference ? Would my Bell Bullit or Shoei Neotec II be able to withstand a water truck rolling over my head ? Debatable and the forces wold probably break my neck anyway.... But, instead of crushing, would the helmet be nudged out of the way. An awful lot of variables at play I suspect - but at least variables which are far better than wearing not wearing a helmet)... .... but then, the best variable is not riding in such a manner that places ourselves directly in such a line of fire... difficult, but riding very defensively makes a big differences, obviously.
  19. I just got caught out with 'too much local' currency overseas... They accepted all digital payments without issue (Apple Pay via Wise card tie to local currency), so I found myself being forced to spend the local currency (slightly more inconvenient than the 'phone tap-n-go'... Then at the Airport when getting couple of bottles of Whisky (I spent the cash and remainder on card to clear the cash).... So... Don't really like carrying cash, but understand the necessity just incase things go wrong - in this case the 'just in case' was arriving in a place with Wife and Son, not being able to use a taxi, hotel not accepted my overseas cards etc, then having to walk around finding a local cash machine (paying exorbitant rates using those or buying with card from a money changer).... Still - I often travel (alone through work) that are sufficient shyite-holes, that carrying US$ remains important - so its good to just have it, just in case... ... and again, those same reasons make sense for carrying cash into Thailand - just in case.
  20. Same here, not in Thailand, but in other countries its helped me significantly. Years ago, I was unable to get foreign currency out of the Thai Banks... They were simply refusing to give US$ out - even with a flight ticket etc - I'd tried in numerous Banks, but they were not issuing US$. I tried at the Airport (Don Muang) upon departure, and the money changers refused... I had little choice but to travel to my destination country without 'internationally accepted currency'... I didn't have the cash for the Visa, and hoped they'd accept credit card, they didn't. I was being returned on the next flight - luckily my company pulled strings and someone came in and escorted me through. I was young (22) and from then on, never ever travelled without cash, even now when I have multiple digital options. Thus: Entering Thailand Visa Exempt or otherwise - it makes sense to have 'some cash' with you, just to cover the bases incase things go wrong.
  21. Agreed... But those options already exist no ? - Non-Imm O - Retirement (seasoned 800,000 baht) - Non-Imm O - Marriage (seasoned 400,000 baht) - Non-Imm O- Parent of a Thai Child (400,000 baht on the day) Thus: Anyone younger than 50, unmarried to a Thai, without a Thai child etc may have questionable reasons for being here when it comes to 'working in Thailand'... Thus - requirements are based around this, if 'we' worked for immigration I'm sure some of our members would like to see more strict requirements !!! I'd agree, but aren't there visa's for that too ? Thai Elite, Investment Visa etc ? They could, but then wouldn't that be abused by everyone working here long term and just paying 5k for 90 days at a time ?
  22. Yet another internet myth repeated so often it becomes an internet fact instead Incorrect... over recent years there have been enough reports on this forum alone of folks both being asked to prove sufficient funds. & how hard is it to withdraw US$600 (or equivalent) just to ensure you have your options fully covered ?
  23. Because the requirement is 'cash'... (either Thai Baht or monetary equivalent)... Your understanding of why is not required or even necessary. Until the regulations change, your ability to be able to respond to the request and show 'cash' or monetary equivalent) IF entering Visa Exempt and IF asked, is the only thing that is necessary. No, I have never seen this, yet I'm aware of the requirement. As I am also aware of the requirement to also ensure I can present my boarding pass upon entry. There have been reports on here of people being asked to show funds, there have been reports on here of people being rejected entry without funds, there are reports on here of people being rejected entry and the reason given 'that they have insufficient funds' (even though they did but were never asked etc).... As far as the why etc.... the possible reasons have been discussed earlier in the thread from the perspective of having an interest in why or attempting to understand a certain logic etc... but other than that, questions of why etc, are moot - the requirement is what it is.
  24. your opinion is irrelevant to me Its relevant to the thread - in that it highlights to anyone foolish enough to be paying attention to your comments that they are the worthless, pointless musings of someone who truly has no concept of providing a valuable response when a question that matters is asked. In this example: It clearly matters to the Op that he finds the best solution to his 'visa and border bounce woes'.... you have unnecessarily muddied the waters and therein lies the relevance of calling out your posts as rubbish, though I initially took your comments at face value, answered them with the understanding that you maybe intelligent enough to subsequently recognise the irrelevance.... you didn't, and instead continued to 'make noise'....
  25. Exactly - I did a 'same day bounce by air' about 20 years ago. Thai Airways to Singapore, departed BKK, landed in SG, passed through immigration, checked-in again, back through immigration, back on plane - same cabin crew recognised me !!... But - that was 20 years ago - I didnt even offer that the experience was possible now as that anecdotal information is dated - I have no first or reliable second information that a 'same day bounce by air' is permissible now.
