By all means we can discuss. The op was looking for actionable advice and not just opinions. On that basis we shouldn’t get involved. Valid point - especially when there really is no way of 'proving' of those using the disabled spaces truly are in need of parking closer to the 'shops' etc (i.e. truly have a disability). In a lot of car parks I see the disabled areas are 'coned off'... not so long ago I used a disabled space, I was on crutches (passenger not driving)... the car park was full and I didn't fancy working my way from deep within the car part - we pulled up, spoke with the guard, showed him the crutches, he moved the cone, no issues. In the UK I would not have been able to do that. But, I also wonder how man of the other cars just slipped the security guard a bit of money to move the cone... Thus, IF catching such an event on video - by all means, post it on social media (anonymously of course) - this is the only way for things to improve [social media that is] as letters of complaint will surely fall on blind eyes.

Transit between the 2 BKK airports
richard_smith237 replied to bubblegum's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Cleary the best solution... For the benifet of the thread and further info..... in order of convenience after a private vehicle or private transfer. 1) AOT Limo (best service - more costly than Grab) 2) GRAB / BOLT (less likley to scam you than a taxi - GrabCar option is better if available) 3) Regular Taxi (higher risk of a shi£tier vehicle, scamming driver and erratic driving) 4) Free Bus (1-2 hours / leaves every hour - so not a great option, but free) 5) The train route suggested by someone on the first page of this thread is preposterous... -
Drowning Incident: 5-Year-Old Child Dies After Being Rescued
richard_smith237 replied to Georgealbert's topic in Isaan News
You don´t lose a 5 year old for 30 minutes. Agreed.... A child 'slip supervision'... they often do, it only takes a second. But, to be 'out of sight for 30 mins ???.... OK.. so that also perhaps means they found the child after 30mins of looking - but under normal supervison, how far can a child get if they 'slip supervision' for a minute or two... ... Sure, they can get themselves into harmful situations, out into the driveway, out of a door into the garden etc... But to have 'gone far enough that they couldn't be found for 30 mins' implies the child was 'unsupervised' for a much longer than a minute or two... Easily done in big gatherings - people always assume someone else is watching the kids... Such a tragic sitation... Thailand repeatedly fails in the most basic of safety education for its citizens. Key missing areas: - Road Safety - Water Safety - Electrical Safety --------------- I don't wish to compare, however, I'm going to... My Son, at a similar age was invited to at a pool party (at a classmates condo)... I was overseas and thought perhaps it was a not the best idea, as when the 'parents' get chatting they may all think someone else is doing the watching, a child can drown in less than a minute... I discussed with Wife and she agreed, if our son goes in the water with the other kids, she wont take her eye off him; even if needing the toilet, he goes with her - as trusting other parents is not an option IMO, they only focus on their kids - and I also saw plenty of parents who's safety clearly was not a concern as they didn't have car seats etc. -------------- In Thailand, the leading cause of death in children under 15 in Thailand is drowning. 15 and up ?... motorcycle accidents (non-helmet wearing ?????) -
American Bull Terrier falls under the SPCA umbrella term of Pit Bull. Not my words, talk to SPCA were I quoted the info. There were no American Bull Terriers involved in the attack, either. Your post, to which I responded originally, suggested that Pit Bulls were involved. Pedantic again... The dog was reported as being an 'American bully' dog... Whatever it was - it was clearly a Breed of Bull Terrier whereby 'Pit Bull' is usually an umbrella term.. ... American Bull Terrier, XL American Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American bully etc etc... Thus: This was a Pit Bull - if considering the general term, or an American Bully (as per reports) if being specific... BUT.. Does it matter ? - All under the 'Pit Bull' Umbrella are dangerous... Its kind of like arguing what type of hand grenade something is.

[QUIZ] 2 September- Flags part 2.
richard_smith237 replied to Captain Flack's topic in The Quiz Forum
I just completed this quiz. My Score 100/100 My Time 70 seconds -
Does that also mean ‘us guests’ are not permitted to have opinions or discuss such matters on these fora, with our Western & Thai friends ???

The scammers use 'proxy' accounts that are not linked to them... i.e. the buy an 'bank account' off a local Moto-taxi guy for 500 baht / 1000 baht etc... then use that to receive money into their scam. The issue of course, is that the person who sold his account claims no knowledge, they're just a poor... they can't really be charged - this then enables the scammers to continue obtaining 'proxy' accounts. This is the 'base' for all such scams - no scammers use their real bank accounts. Its also an major issue with Thai ID fraud. 100% agree - If authorities could target loads of the scammers it would clean up the country a lot. But, its a lot of effort and one thing the Thai BiB are not known for, is their effort.

Pit bull attack in Bangkok market sparks safety concerns
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Every couple of weeks,.... It seems every couple of weeks was a gross underestimation... Every 4 days.... This time an 18 year male attacked and killed by the family 'pittie'... -
Indeed... After initially agreeing pre-authorising a procedure, payment was later rejected by my insurance company because there was a 5 year moratorium (on Renal issues)... Even though the procedure was more than 5 years after I'd had a kidney stone, insurance refused to pay up, because in my medical notes, from a routine medical check up (about) 4.5 years before hand there was a comment that 'no evidence or previous stone in left kidney' (or words to that effect). ... The insurance claimed this was a pre-existing condition that fell within the moratorium - I countered that a comment referring to the 'absense' of a condition is not the condition itself, however, they continued to object to my claim. I ended up paying the 130,000 baht myself a few months later as the hospital started putting pressure on me to pay out (letters suggesting they would take legal action if I didn't pay).

Watch: Spanish Police Boat Slices Through a Migrant Speed Boat
richard_smith237 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It does not appear that the Police vessel deliberately 'slices through' the migrant boat... It appears that the Police vessel was 'blocking' the migrant boat and the migrant boat pulled turned across the bow of the Police vessel... the rest was unavoidable. Strong Policing such as this is necessary - it is the 'softness' which has enable such situations to escalate to the current levels - in effect, soft policing (and policy making) has created the very need for an extreme response. -
Possibilities here... 1) 3am - Both likely to have been drinking 2) Fast Car - likely speeding 3) Motorcyclist in Thailand - Riding without lights 4) Motorcyclist in Thailand - Riding in wrong direction 5) Motorcyclist in Thailand - Pulled out in front of car without looking Of course, none of the above can be proved - but to anyone who has spent any time here a minimum of 3 of the above possibilities are quite likely to have occurred. The real surprise here is that the Porsche driver didn't flee.

I disagree... Parking like that, they clearly have a disability - but its one that should prevent them from driving in the first place.

I doubt this is the Op's only source of information - I imagine that as he has posted on here he's spreading the net far and wide, looking for recommendations for his labor source. Its the same posts asking where to find a good maid etc... People who ask about Dr's on this forum are not looking for Doctors 'on' this forum, but for recommendations - this is similar. The Op was also clear - Masseuses +40 (no extra's)... wink emoji or not, his comment leaves little room for doubt. The only think I can think of is actually going to have a massage and asking the masseuses directly - if they are interested, if they know anyone etc.

There are racists in the UK - as there are in every country - but you'll need a bit more evidence than that to suggest that the UK is a racist country. Particularly as the nation which put an end to world slavery, cost Britain 40% of its National Budget at the time (1833), that money borrowed to compensate slave owners as part of the Slavery Abolition Act was not paid back until 2014, In effect the many UK Citizens still living have helped pay for the end of the slave trade with their taxes. What other countries could say that. The UK is not a racist country - but its one whose populace is become tired of having its identity stripped.

Teeth Whitening Bangkok, recent info
richard_smith237 replied to TheLaughingMan's topic in Health and Medicine
This has prevented me from getting further teeth whitening... I have veneers... which of course will not whiten, and surrounding teeth would be whiter. That said: the veneers are now about 15 years old and online info suggests they will need replacing soon anyway. -
I didn't see where the Op said the truck was 'speeding' - nevertheless, its impossible for bystanders to judge speed in such situations - guesses are usually way off. From the video it doesn't appear that the truck is speeding... Of course, but a heavily laden truck can't be driven everywhere at 15kmh incase a motorcyclist pulls out - thus, so long as it is within the legal speed limit then others also have to take account of their road behavior. Completely agree... So very tragic - one of the parents lost two children and their father.. and all because its become the norm when driving / riding here that slowing to a stop at a junction is the last resort not the first.
