  1. No, you don't. Please elaborate... How can a foreigner get a Pink ID without being registered in a house book ??
  2. You can't have a Pink Card and no other Thai Style ID... you can't get a Pink ID card without first having being registered with the Amphur and in a Yellow House Book (or in a Blue House Book if you qualify).
  3. Kind of correct... You need a Yellow House Book (or Blue House Book if you qualify) to get your Thai ID number which also contains your TIN... Thus..... of course, you can also have a TIN without the Yellow House Book. The Pink ID is just the same info on a Photo ID card (for no Thai, Thailand ID).
  4. No need for personal insults :( On the contrary... I was doubting my own judgement on your speed of uptake... It'd be amusing to have this debate over beers in a pub... I'd have been pishing myself in hysterics by now... I do believe you are deliberately messing with us... especially on this last page....
  5. You have a combined Thai Motorcycle licence and Driving Licence ????
  6. I just use one, and have done for many years. I was clearly wrong...
  7. My banks have phone apps, easy to transfer. Pay attention... NDID is not available for foreigners (at SCB Bank), Thus, the max transfer is 49,999 baht... and I'm not about to make 17 separate online transactions. Hence the counter transaction for which I used the Pink ID and Bank Book. You really can't be this slow on the uptake, surely ??????
  8. I'm starting to question if you haven't completely lost your marbles, Neeranam.... .... Motorcycle and Car....
  9. You're jumping into the debate searching for an argument rather than a discussion. No one has said the Pink ID is 'NEEDED'... I have said that the Pink ID card can be useful and adds a layer of convenience, and as it only takes an additional 10mins and 40 baht to obtain, they there's no good reason not to get one.... people have debated against this with flawed reasoning. Its not useful to you.. fair enough... you didn't make a false statements until above when you incorrectly commented that it has been said that the Pink ID is 'NEEDED'....
  10. The last transaction I made was to withdraw about 900,000 baht... Not something I wanted to do at an ATM And can't trx that amount with SCB as NDID is not available for foreigners).
  11. Obviously you don’t read as noted by others. I don’t dislike the pinky card, I have absolutely no use for it, it takes up space in my wallet. All I need in my wallet are the 2 drivers license and credit cards. That’s it, simple isn’t it? Sure its simple... so is reading post and identifying that it wasn't in reply to you. You have found that you have had no use for the Pink ID which is a perfectly reasonable response.
  12. You can withdraw money with just a bank card. This is a perfect example of why we 'suspect' you have a dislike for the Pink ID card... You are switching context to deliberately obfuscate the discussion and have used this tactic repeatedly. Given the content of your posts in other threads its obvious that you are not stupid which indicates in this thread you are being deliberately obtuse. You'll be reminded that the point made is that Pink ID can be used as ID for over the counter transactions and you have falsely stated that it is illegal...
  13. No argument there Neeranam.... In your experience, you have found no practical use for the Pink ID - thats fine. But.. that has not been the basis of your comments - you have been making false statements and generalisations which suggest you have something against the card itself.
  14. Yes for sure you are very worked up about this. It looks like you are working and lobbying for the pink card company with your ever so heartfelt ranting and raving love for the pink card As another poster put it in another thread... Just because I hate Hitler, it doesn't mean I love Starlin... In this case, because I dislike and object to the flawed misinformation peddled by some posters, it doesn't mean I love the Pink ID, it simply means I disagree with the flawed misinformation presented by some and have countered that with facts where the Pink ID (and Yellow House Book) have proven to be convenient and useful. I hope that has helped you to step away from binary thinking.
  15. I'll have go through it again in about 20 months... [driving & motorcycle licence renewal] Always done it myself since the very first time about 20 years ago... expect it to be just as easy next time. Sometimes its busier at the DLT, sometimes it isn't. If you live 200 km away from a DLT and will save 1500 baht in petrol... and a whole day of time - then fair enough - but is it ????? Don't you have to be there anyway to do the 'in room tests' and watch the video ??... So you're not saving petrol at all... The only benefit an agent brings for a DLT renewal is to 'queue jump'... (and to baby sit a person through the process if they need that). Visa Renewal / extension of stay - if it saves time and having to travel a long distance, then sure, fair enough - but don't you have to be there again ?
  16. It depends on the purpose of the stop. If merely for ID check, you're in compliance with Thai law. In theory, as Immigration, they can then check your visa status by computer. Obviously, if they want to see original stamps, or you're under suspicion for criminality, then only your physical passport will do, and you have 24 hours to produce or have it produced if you're detained. It would help if you stop obfuscating about migrant workers. It's totally irrelevant. In fact, you always love to jump into these pink ID card threads to spread misinformation, irrelevancy, speculation, and confusion, having nothing of any usefulness to contribute. Why is that? 100% agree.. so many silly comments from Neeranam the intention of which appears to counter the usefulness of possessing a the Pink ID with misinformation, irrelevancy, speculation, and obfuscation.... and then repeating the same flawed generalisation and statements as if the repetition itself ads validity. The law doesn't specify each and every type of acceptable identification you may carry to be in compliance. It also doesn't say that a photocopy or a phone photo is "legal identification." YAWN. Yawn indeed... its like debating with a 5 year old !!!.. The regulation I saw way back (transliterated) states... "we must carry government issue Photo Identification at all times or be able to provide such within a reasonable time frame".... (I'd like to be able to find that document which if I recall correctly was a translation of the actual law - but I've looked and can't dig it out). Has nothing to do with foreign income. I find my card useful. What's YOUR problem? Those with a Yellow House Book already have a Tax ID... so the Pink ID makes no difference to that whatsoever.
  17. Fair enough... Do you carry your Passport around with you all the time though, or do you carry your Pink ID without just incase the police stop you and want to check / confirm your ID ?
  18. Not true, some bank workers who don't know the law might allow it. Government banks certainly don't. Only domestic flights, but DL is enough. DLT, not in my experience. Yawn... seriously ??? more obfuscation... Pink ID widely accepted at numerous banks (already mentioned numerous times in this thread) Government Banks - no idea.... what relevance is that to any of us with a normal account ? Domestic flights - Of course... and Yes, its reported a DL also works (so what? your argument is that Pink ID is not accepted as ID). DLT - Yellow Book and Pink ID widely accepted (only Chonburi and perhaps a couple of others its not).
  19. ???? so ?? are the language abilities of a 'farang you know' of any relevance to anything in this thread all ?? When people refer to the house book in these fora they use different terms all readily understood. - Yellow House Book - Yellow Tabien Baan - Yellow Tabien Baan House Book - Tabien Baan for non-Thai's
  20. Agreed... If stopped by Immigration Police who really wanted to know your Immigration status I doubt a Pink ID will suffice. How many Immigration Police do you see around the streets ??? But playing along with you.... you can show immigration a copy of your Passport and Visa Stamp on your phone and if that doesn't satisfy them they can check your records... If that doesn't satisfy them, you have your 'passport available' within a reasonable time frame (i.e. at home or in a hotel safe)... No.. but there you go again Gaslighting - you are making up a scenario that doesn't and wont exist to try and win score a point in an imaginary argument in your head..... Everyone knows the Pink ID is completely unrelated to Visa status. No one has argued it is... there you go again making up a scenario that doesn't and wont exist to try and win score a point in an imaginary argument in your head..... Yet its accepted at Banks, Airports, DLT etc (there was even an infographic of such earlier on in the thread). And that works perfectly well for me, avoids getting another letter of residence / Embassy letter etc... Very possible, but still a flawed comment... and this is the only 'nearly' valid comment you have made on this subject so far... But that has nothing to do specifically with the 'Pink ID card' itself.... and everything to do with having a Tax ID number (which is the number in the Yellow Book too)... So, are you also against having a Tax ID and Yellow House Book now as well ?
  21. #2 in the line of responding posters "countering your claim that you 'need to have your gym membership card in your wallet too.'" Focus. Ah... your comment was unclear and led me to a different conclusion... .. So by 'Here you are, #2' you meant... 'Here, in this thread you are #2 to respond'.... and not 'here, in Thailand, you are #2 status'... Lets write proper sentences shall we ??? (easier all around)...
  22. That seems incredibly inflexible... If you forget your Gym membership card they will make you pay for the day..... Only because the card has your signature on it and a hole in it... Don't they have your expiration date on their computer ?.... this all seems as though you are making up excuses as to why you have to carry around additional cards - seems a bit exaggerated to me.
  23. Correct, from what I've observed an agent knows what they are doing and speeds up the process often handling multiple applications, in my case the person was assisting 5 people in total. Seating was not at a premium because 1 extra person was there, unlike the situation in the main body of the Jomtien immigration office. I see your point... I just object to paying 3000 baht for an agent for something I can so very easily do myself (in a similar amount of time - unless the Agent can queue jump)... The last time I did the DL the queue was huge... and after the video & classroom tests the queue to actually collect the licence was at least an hour long... I didn't wait, I went for a massage and came back two hours later... queue well and truly missed, I showed the staff my number and they slotted me straight in at the front (a little cheeky.... but I just couldn't be done waiting that long in that crowded room). I've never needed to use an agent for anything here.... the Driving licence is certainly easy enough to do on your own. That said, I do understand those who bring their Wife for Translation purposes (although I never found that necessary and my Wife has better things to do than baby sit me)... Immigration is slightly different - we may need to bring the Wife for an extension based on Marriage - thats the only time my Wife has ever got involved in of the bureaucratic stuff I deal with here - the same in reverse... whenever we travel, the Wife deals with all her own Visa applications... I get your point... well worded as not to cause offence to the feckless characters who bring their Ex BG GF or Wife in tow.... I kind of agree.. but... agents are a nice little earner for Immigration who obviously receive 'fees' for being allowed to operate and speeding through the system etc.... this eventually feeds back to us, when (if) we are made to 'jump through extra hoops' and direct dealings are made more hassle to such a degree we end up making the decision pay and go the 'agent route'.... (as mentioned in various threads on this forum in the past). ... So, there is potential 'knock-on' impact to us.
  24. Yes.. Tesco's finest had some good selections... Particularly the wine... The same thing happened when Carrefour switched over to Big C... The quality of products diminished. Its clear that a cartel of big players are preventing the quality international chains from developing in the market..... Thats not a bad thing, as in the West the Supermarkets have killed the highstreets....
  25. You're right. It's full of questions. But I read in the last paragraph.. ...investigators questioned six witnesses and scrutinised the individual purporting to be Ann’s father. However, no connection between Ann and the man was established. So no telling what really happened. Agreed... did that mean 'no direct connection to Ann' ???... ingnoring that the Policeman was a friend of Anns father ?... We just don't know... We don't know if Ann's father was there, or if a Man driving identified himself as Anns father was actually Ann's father or if he was lying. We don't know if was the Policeman who was driving and he was there alone.... The article is so incomplete its an insult to the reader and ultimately highlights a degree of stupidity (unprofessionalism) that it was even published in the first place.... I suppose this is what we get with such lowbrow media sources - we shouldn't have any expectations... If Aseannow were to proof read every news article and not re-publish the ones with glaring flaws and numerous holes there would be very little to actually publish... ... instead... we just read this regurgitated news and think... yup, full of holes... here we go again...
