Miicrowave Oven Repair in CM...Cheaper Options?
richard_smith237 replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in Chiang Mai
Understandable... at least we now know how you are managing to cook up all these inane threads !!!! -
They cut the bag, not me, how would I be scarred? I was disappointed, but it was an early lesson, and it has not happened since. I'm sure you're far more diligent and protective of your candy when out and about on October 31st these recent years.... (just messing with you of course Yellow... ) Back on topic... I usually keep my wallet in my back pocket (its a very thin wallet, with ID and a card and cash), so takes up very little space but is at risk of pick-pocketing... ... I have noticed that automatically, when going to a busier area I switch the walled to a front pocket... That of course, still leaves me open to pick-pocketing when I'm 'under a false sense of security'... I guess for many of us, its just a matter of time... Fortunately, pick pocketing is not a significant worry in Thailand.

Miicrowave Oven Repair in CM...Cheaper Options?

Oh blast... I just realised I got suckered into commenting one of those threads without checking who started it... (comments since deleted so as not to feed the....) -
Agreed... the obvious answer when using such market places is 'face to face' only. I've sold loads of stuff on FB market place, but its open to scammers... I even sold (and shipped) a motorcycle to someone in a different city - they obviously trusted me, but I thought them somewhat naive to do so. I have also purchased of FB market place - but carried out the transaction (pickup and payment) in person. As far as recourse goes - you could make a complaint (file a Police report) but as another poster already mentioned, its very possible that the scammer is using a third parties bank account. I find the platform (FaceBook Market Place) very useful for gauging the market value of items I may want to sell (phones etc).

Indeed... two posters specifically (both names beginning with G) start such inane posts the mind boggles... What starts off as a 'seemingly genuine question' soon turns into a spiel of rambling bumf... The question could be taken at face value of course, however, the door opens to being dragged down the rabbit hole of inanity in the face of self aggrandisement. Anyway... I thought he (Gamma) was in Japan trying to pull the fluff with his supreme intellect..... -
And you were so scarred you were locked into that catatonic state and have been unable to mature since ???

It wouldn't surprise me at all that a 'fast one' is being pulled in such circumstances... Most people wouldn't check. Its not a hard volume to calculate if the 'shape' is relatively even and depth is consistent. The issue of course, is how to prove it... And, even if it could be proven the response would be 'oops sorry, mistake'... There's simply no incentive for honesty here with things like this (perhaps anywhere). Perhaps its an issue of 'competition' with providers undercutting each other to such a degree that the only way to remain profitable is to 'pull a fast one'...

If I could turn back time…

I watched a documentary where it happened... A guy had this special car and went back in time, accidentally met his mum who developed a crush on him and nearly caused her not to meet his dad, he was nearly erased from existence... -
Used it once... and it added a 'slight element of convenience' but not a great deal of time saving (for me). It was a 1 night trip, so hand-carry only - I'd never bother with more than that. Transport to / From the Airport usually takes about 30-40 mins (home to airport). Rail-Link takes similar. - Transport to rail link: 10mins - Wait for train: 5 mins - Rail link: 20 mins - Walk to check-in: 5 mins The Rail-Link useful in periods of extremely heavy traffic (i.e. if landing at 5pm and wanting to go into Asoke central). ------------- Back on Topic, thanks to the Op for this warning. Many of us feel very safe in Bangkok and can easily drop our guard. I've been the recipient of 2x pick-pocketing attempts (in Prague and Barcelona) caught them both. Both times I was drunk, but also, both times was walking in the street and on high alert because of the area.

Piggy backing on this a little... I have two monitors used for a home office set up that I rarely use. I'm thinking of a Mini-PC for my Son and hooking in the two monitors. He'll likely want to play some games (although not heavy games - just stuff like Roblox & Minecraft). Thus: Do these mini-pc's handle multiscreen output and some gaming ? I did look at the BlackVue MP60 - but didn't spend enough time looking deeply into it to establish viability. https://www.amazon.com/Blackview-Computer-Processor-Business-Ethernet/dp/B0BJ6HMSDP?th=1

If travelling in and out and not using Immigration of extensions the TM30 is moot - its not checked at the airports. If relying on extensions or dealing with anything visa / reporting related at an Immigration Office its wise to ensure you have submitted a recent TM30 before hand.

How did the buyer pay for the item if not through a Bank Transfer ? - don't you have the details already. You have done the right thing - You sold an item and the buyer does not agree with your assesment of the condition of the item, or it was damaged in transit etc... You have offered a refund. Obviously you cannot give a refund unless you have received the item. The buyer now falls into one of two categories: - Honest but paranoid and suspects you may be trying to scam him. - A scammer who is trying to scam you. As everyone has already mentioned - you have documented proof that you have offered a refund. The next step is his, the ball is already out of your court.

SUV inferno leaves two women seriously injured
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
This happened 4 days ago..... after how long does news, become not news ??? .... "two weeks ago the driver of a Camry lost control and....."... Or, is there an underlying attempt to trigger conversation and debate here as this was a 'vehicle on fire' story and we know how the ICE vs EV debaters love a good car fire story... -
Xenophobic? Hardly. The netizens are carping on about the city fathers having not asked the foreign ladies permission to use their picture. What's the Thai word for woke? I think you missed his point... The suspected xenophobia is on the part of the 'city' officials who reacted in this manner and used 'foreigners' in their example. Had they erected a sign that said.... - no swimwear - no sleeping Without any allusion to this being a 'foreigner only' issue then the response would be less of a clumsy back-fire. The official response is clumsy, thats all, its what advisors are for...

There were two separate events recently. 1) Two females sunning themselves on the grassed area of a Temple grounds in Chiang Mai - wearing a tank-top and shorts. - This resulted in a Thai member of public sending a photo to Chanel 3 who ran with the story. - 4 Police went to the Western Tourists guest house to slap them on the wrist and provided another news bite. 2) Two females sunning themselves on Sanam Luang in Bangkok - one of them in a G-string Bikini. - Again, this resulted in Photo's reaching the media who ran with the story. - This resulted in the 'officials' clumsy response to erect a ridiculous sign. Both situations were inflated in the media, some argue with a sense of 'of bad foreigner' borderlining on xenophobia, both handled in a clumsy manner.... Its the latter situation; two women sunbathing in Sanam Luang in Bangkok to which this thread and story refers.

Exactly... the 'media' and often people on this forum use an unverifiable 'they' as a consensus which is rarely true.. - Netizens - they... as in 'netizens were outraged'.... (often quoted by the media) - Thai's - they... as in 'They don't want us here'.... (often quoted by posters in this forum) Who exactly is 'they' in such contexts ?... its the use of an exaggeration, often of an extreme minority in an attempt to strengthen a weak argument or point that otherwise could not be made.. ... its hardly headline grabbing.."some online posters expressed distaste"...
-
Firstly, I was outraged that this is a news issue in the first place... Then, I was outraged at the outrage... Now, I'm outraged at outrage to the response... Or am I ??... No, of course not.... and neither is anyone else, they just have an opinion, but I very much doubt its anywhere near outrage or uproar, its just an opinion some people are voicing which is a far cry from uproar - in fact, Thailand does the 'absence of uproar' very well !!! Again, this is just the media sensationalising an extremely insignificant and minor event to drum up attention... perhaps I should be outraged at the media themselves then !!!

2 Polish women apologise for sunbathing in Chiang Mai temple

Which took a task force of 4 (at least !!!)... -
The issue of course is that it 'could be' an important call that you weren't expecting. Thus, I answer and work out if its a scammer, in most cases it is.. However, I've had two 'cold' calls from recruiters in the last few years - I suspected scam in both cases, with one, it became clear very quickly that the call was genuine (it lead to a good job). With another, the lady who called was of Eastern European origins (by accent) and I definitely suspected a scam, I was actually rather rude and ended up a apologising as I realised the the call was genuine. Ultimately, if people don't know my name its a 100% scam... If they do, they have my details from somewhere. I had some interesting calls... i.e. in the Middle East where being rude to the wrong people comes with consequences, I had a call from the 'Ministry of the Interior'.. that was a little worrying, but they didnt know my name, so I asked for their Name, contact, position etc and told them I'd contact them back from official channels. The scammers are everywhere, every country - they are a blight on society and wish the police, both domestic and international would do a lot lot more do deal with this vermin.

Agreed... however, the 'tabloid' media worldwide (unless there is a dictatorial control on the media) behaves in the same manner - its just that Thailands 'Chanel 3' (a national news channel) as run with a trashy story of tabloid standards. Wonder to what ?... A couple of normally dressed females ??... Some of the comments on this forum are rather 'monger-ish'... its just two women.. hardly the 'pervy kick' some seem to be suggesting... I can imagine - I too would be embarrassed at being sent out as a part of a 4 man tactical squad to deal with these hardened criminals !!..
