  1. I agree... plenty of possibilities that the guy took affront not to being asked to be quiet, but the manner in which he was asked. In which case his reaction was not specifically to a 'trans' person, but to someone who insulted him or was rude to him....
  2. Erm..... perhaps read the thread again... Totally agree... Locks are not going to stop someone who thinks its their right to get into that house.
  3. In Thailand ???.... they get out of prison and can be a taxi driver the following day. In theory you are correct of course, but since when has the law or meeting legal obligations mattered in any of this?.... If the Police were to stop all taxi's and check them, I wonder how many are actually fully legal, with full insurance for passengers etc... my guess is very few if any. I suspect the 'idea' in Thailand is based on this. In fact most laws in Thailand are perfectly good laws. The issue is of through a complete lack of enforcement the law is but a mere suggestion.
  4. Walk / ride / drive around looking for a 'print or camera shop'... anything with a Kodak poster on it... They'll more than likely to passport photos. Also... Run a google maps search... then do a street-maps walk through. Google Searches: - Passport Photograph - Printers - Print Services https://www.google.com/maps/place/Jumbo+Photo+Express/@19.904389,99.8307026,17z/data=!4m10!1m2!2m1!1sPassport+photo!3m6!1s0x30d70667c7ad7407:0xd78576ee71ed3c!8m2!3d19.904389!4d99.8329814!15sCg5QYXNzcG9ydCBwaG90b1oQIg5wYXNzcG9ydCBwaG90b5IBDGNhbWVyYV9zdG9yZZoBJENoZERTVWhOTUc5blMwVkpRMEZuU1VOQ2NWcDFNbXRCUlJBQuABAA!16s%2Fg%2F11c1s381c0?entry=ttu
  5. But do the actual taxi's themselves have any of this insurance ???? I very much doubt it for most, and in a couple of instances a taxi has hit my vehicle (in Bangkok) and those taxi's had no insurance at all.... While just about tolerable in Bangkok, the taxi services in area's outside of Bangkok needs a complete overhaul.
  6. Exactly this... Now, Isn't BOLT & GRAB legal in Thailand, so if she was using that App to secure passengers there is nothing illegal about what she was doing - SO... Was she using GRAB or BOLT ?... no mention of that, I wonder if it was conveniently left out. The Gangs of Taxi drivers in Phuket leave little to garner sympathy given their past actions. I recall the Wife on an honourary counsil (not sure which nation, but Western) being blocked from departing a hotel in her car after picking up her friend because taxis were claiming she was taking business away from them.... Some area's of Thailand, Phuket and Samui have entitled taxi drivers who fight against any competition while continuing to provide aggressive, impolite, extremely poor and extortionate service.
  7. There is nothing ambiguous about flashing yellow traffic lights. The Flashing yellow means 'proceed with caution'.... Just two stupid people ignoring the traffic lights with a 'me first' mentality so typical on Thailands roads.
  8. Might be best to zip your pie hole about it though in light of this news story. Why???.... Talking too much in the cinema is what happened, it's the tigger for the attack. The fact that the two were attacked are trans is also your trigger to make this an issue about gender identity and bigotry. IF someone identifying as any of LGBTQIA+ won the lottery in an empty room, I'm sure you'd find some way of making them out to be a victim....
  9. IF it were 2 very large 'anyones' he wouldn't have reacted !!!.... So while, knowing such information can allow us to make our own interpretation of any possible underlying reasons for an attack... it also generates a 'red-herring' where people can jump on a bandwagon and shoe-horn the issue into something else to suit their agenda..... These two were not attacked becasue they were trans... they were attacked because they caused an unhinged d-head to lose face.
  10. Of course...... 'it happens elsewhere'... But elsewhere fleeing the scene is penalised to such extent its worse than any initial potential penalty. At 6am was this guy drunk ?? we'll never know, but thats somewhat moot - after fleeing the scene his charges should be greater than that of Vehicular Manslaughter to Gross Vehicular Manslaughter.
  11. Utterly confusing, totally unnecessary... upside-down and inside out.. Putting MM before DD in a MM-DD-YYYY format is just idiotic. I've worked for numerous international companies and the ones which use the MM-DD-YY format always suffer some sort of delay, fault or issue as a result. IMO the ONLY valid date format for international use is DD-MMM-YYYY to avoid any confusion whatsoever... i.e. 24-JAN-2024 this is complete unambiguous and removes every dash of doubt or misunderstanding.
  12. Of course...... 'it happens elsewhere'... But elsewhere fleeing the scene is penalised to such extent its worse than any initial potential penalty. 13. Indeed the world has gone mad.... so many people have no understanding of basic issues and can't follow basic discussions - instead they dumb down and oversimplify things... This thread is not about 'a pack of garbage bags'.... The thread is about a perceived lack of service provided which is juxtaposed to the general impression that service in Thailand is excellent. Personally the 'whinge' is rather pathetic, but there a number of valid follow up points, discussing service standards here compared to the West, when it comes to personal treatment and professional response of staff etc and how that varies from company to company, region to region and also individual to individual.
  14. If this story were slightly different and instead of two trans-people (see what I did there !), it were two Westerners... ... Would we have posters suggesting the attack only occurred because the two victims were Westerners ?
  15. A guy like that is going to attack anyone.... if its girls or boys.... the only time an utterl ayhole like this would not attack someone when triggered is if that person (or two people) are significantly larger in size or in a larger group. If this were two guys (smaller or similar size) the ayhole would have attacked them. If this were two girls, the ayhole would have attacked them. This is just a story of an utter ayhole attacking someone who triggered him.
  16. But you are speaking about gender ideology. You aren't even speaking about the actual incident. You are taking it to a broader level of discussion. And now you don't want to discuss it anymore ???? Because Jing attempted to play his 'LGBTQIA+ victim card' and no one is interested because its obvious that this isn't an issue of sexual identity, it's an issue of an a55hole attacking two 'people' because he lost face....
  17. Yeah.... I'm with you... arrest him, deport him.......... deport him, deport him, deport him [frenzied chant]... ... erm.. hang on a sec..... 'deport' who exactly ????
  18. But, they were attacked because they 'shushed' the inconsiderate pr!ck who lost face and retaliated with violence. There's no need to shoe-horn this into an issue of sexuality and gender identity... There's no need to make more of it than that. IF it were two 185cm guys, nothing may have happened, or they may have been attacked. IF it were two puny 150cm Thai girls, nothing may have happened, or they may have been attacked. IF it were two puny 160cm Thai guys, nothing may have happened, or they may have been attacked. IF it were two slim 160cm Transwomen, nothing may have happened, or they may have been attacked. There are simply too many what-ifs to jump on the LGBTQIA+ Bandwagon (or whatever it is these days) and play gay victim. This was just a total a55hole who was inconsiderate and then attacked someone after losing face. The unhinged pr!ck needs to be dealt with and I fully support the two 'people' who were attacked.
  19. Not wishing to derail the topic, but might that describe EV's in the first place ???
  20. Agreed... and conversely so.. If a foreigner has good money and a good job here, then paying for a top tier international school will give the Child a greater opportunity than placing them in a standard school back home (i.e. UK comprehensive). There is the language issue: - Studying at an international school does not help a child's Thai. - If the child wants a future in Thailand they have to learn extra curricular Thai. There is also university issue (costs): - Firstly a family (child) has to be in the UK for 3 years to secure UK uni fees. - The costs can be anywhere from £20,000 to £35,000 more per year than the standard ±£10,000 for resident UK students. - But, also, IF a child wanted to study medicine with the aim of becoming a Doctor in Thailand, they'd have to study their medical degree here (then perhaps study a masters overseas) - the same for legal services (lawyer) or Dentistry etc.
  21. Erm... boasting about being at a function... very strange. Also flawed logic, a lot more than 250 people contribute to this forum. You are just side stepping the reality that you are wrong and using some extremely flawed and bizare logic to justify something... I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve with that comment - its hilariously juxtaposed from the thread.
  22. You are criticising someone using this forum for using this forum while you are using this forum ???? Way to go... some quality grade A1 halfwittery right there !!!... And... you are still wrong !!!
  23. Obviously you and your mate dont have the language skills to ring up and ask a basic question. So you try to tear me down. Oh dear.... talking of language skills - Can't you read basic English ??? I already have the Thai MC licence from a UK DL. Why would I need to ring anyone up about this ? - Its been done, I've done it, as have others... You are simply wrong.
  24. This... We don't read or hear it enough... The manufacture of both new ICE's and EV's is energy intensive and polluting. EV's more so than ICE vehicles such that at point zero (zero kms travelled) the EV has some distance to travel to bring it into 'carbon foot print' parity with ICE's and this can take years, 8 years or more for extended range vehicles with larger batteries.... thats just carbon-footprint and doesn't include the air and groundwater pollution from Lithium and cobalt mining (although battery tech is turning more towards LiFePO4 batters (which don't have cobalt). That said, I like EV's... I don't think they are more environmentally friendly, but I wouldn't chose one for those purposes, I'd chose one because some of them are better cars. I like this bike, it looks fun and ticks a lot of good boxes, though it misses out on a lot of issues - the superbike performance blurb is comical, its a very very very far cry from anything that comes close to superbike.... zippy scooter is perhaps a better description. The range is not going to bother those who use their bike for regular 10-30km commutes etc, but its certainly going to stop a lot of people and while I believe range anxiety is more of a psychological factor than a real factor when it comes to car EV's... this limited 60km range would give me pause for thought. The reason I stepped down from a 'real motorcycle' to a scooter type motorcycle in Bangkok was primarily storage, scooters are just so convenient and this EV motorcycle, with no storage is not. The price - forget it.
