I got my new 64 page pass/p at the embassy.they unlike oz where very nice ,took old passport in they asked for mother's madien name ,said wait 10 min.. later came back whith the form fill out with main details in it already ..only had to fill out remainder,if you have everything with you thats needed you can do it then and there...then wait for the 10 days,take 2 sets of photos from different shops my first photos from a good shop would not scan,they rang me within 2 hrs of putting them in to tell me.i was nearly in pattaya,i went to another shop and sent them in express mail.[signed]they got them next day,

and again very nice to me.you can pay cash,and when you go anywhere take old and new passport,extra photos and photo copys of your old passprt, front page and entry,visa.when i did my visa run i needed to do this an took an extra 15 min,while that copied old details to new.

that there is a road and m/bike's for hire,nice bikes,most with clip on pedals and quick release wheels,

didnt ask how much,they are outside the shop half way down..opp trafalgar g/house.

I was told the race is in august,,,not sure on date yet,as no programs printed yet at the bike shops,

anyone wanting to do a M/bike race,this is the flatest couse i have been over in the my 7 yrs of racing here.

BUT the pace will be flat out in all age groups,which are from normaly 8yr olds to 60 plus[me].

and the race will be done in LAPS [how many depend on age]the race starts at the INDOOR athletic stadium in chiaypum rd no2.pass SILK RD ESTATE..thats at the set of lights before or after the flooting market ,which ever way u come from on the dark side....trail is well marked already,follow the red and white streamers,and markers,

Tonto do intense works outs with next day recovery,and these little thais do go fast so start training now.

Monday is fine,at 3 pm arvo,go past floating ,market going to pattaya and turm right at the nxt lights i'll meet you at the train tracks, 200mts up the rd.on my ride this morning just behind the stadium near the lake i see thay have maped out a race trail for next weeks race,which i just found out is on,have to get details from shop.we will try that for starters as i have to learn the course.

i went up the hills behind the thai polo fields dismorning [very steep]had to get off and push 2/3rds of the way and coming back down lots of ruts sand and gravel and steep,but never fell off,but coming along a flat trail fell off twice,u can never tell,i'll rest my sore bum from the fall suday ,so i might have a drink too..so wear a helmet the rest is up to you, but you will get dirty.

I helped bring up my wifes 2 sisters boys [now 17]both of them stayed with us for a few yrs.

both me and my wife are very strict with our own 2 kids.while they [the nephews lived with us.they both showed me and my ife the greatest of respect...i did throw a bit of fear into them,cause i am a hard man,,,but they showed their own mothers none at all, although they loved them.they would talk back to them etc,both at the time single moms with falang boyfriends,and always spoiling them when with them.[thai BOYS always get spoilt the most].

one is back in oz would not go to school,he got stabbed at school,and beaten,maybe someting to do with it,has ability but wont use it,wants like most kids these days everything on a platter,they sent him back here for 8 months by himself he stayed with us and his 17 yr old cousin, and is now working back in OZ,the other is studying to be an electrician here in pattaya.

If you want to stay where u are sit down with the kids and have a heart to heart with them,away from the mrs,as said in OP it will sink in later on for them.

If you dont do something it will be your own fault for not having a go.

I asked the question about overstay and new passport for a friend,[NOW OLD FRIEND I THINK]in previous post,i advised him to leave early and go to embassy ,get NEW passport then on to cheng wattana,[OERSTAY 3/4 MONTHS]then on to airport,he rang wife who was to pick him up at around 8.30am /9am,but he wanted a 11am pickup so mrs could not take him and girlfriend, she got another taxi for him.

well with the late start he got to wattana at around closing time,on the friday,but because of this from what i can gather from mrs and taxi driver [AS I AM IN OZ AT THE MOMENT]they would not let him leave and locked him up for the weekend and supposed to be prossed monday.

He's girlfriend rang my mrs and blamed her for telling him to go there and not straight to airport where immagration is opened 24hrs,so they say.

i told to take ticket police report,etc and of course 20,000bt plus extra.

i HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANYONE BEING STOPPED AND HELD AT AIRPORT,has anyone else?

he is the unreliable type so the late start may have been his down fall as i dont know what transpired at wattana.

dont know if he has left yet as no contact since friday,which ever way it pans out I'LL BE THE BAD GUY. FROM NOW ON UP TO THEM..

I did a visa run 27/3 with my new passport and old,they sent me to the overstay counter ,but only to transfer old details over to new,no payment,,but they did send me to get old and new passports and visas photo copied,i did have a letter from embassy for new passport,they didnt ask for that i gave photo copy anyway,took 15.20 min.

A friend has overstayed 2 to 3 months in that time lost and got emergemcy passport [OZ]lasts 1 month,that finnished and will pick up new passport from embassy and straight to airport.

I presume you need a letter with your new passport to say old one lost,hence no stamp or dep card on new one,and what is the overstay price NOW,try search could not find....or is it more complicated than that?

I do love samet but getting xxxz,sai kaew is easy but jeps seem to get a little body wave when in season.

koh larn [siam beach] again depending on the season has a little body wave ,i take the boggey board for the kids and have had a ball,the back side of koh larn is dead calm,cordened off for swimmers if u get ferry from front side u can get m/bike or b/bus to take u anywhere on island or u get ferry to back side of island,u have to check bali hai for times and where they go.

she was too laser happy for mine,and would not burn/spray all my skin cancers,as she said i had too many,WELL thats what i am here for i said ,NO u should use efudex, i said i tried that and hated it and forgot to keep it up,she did not finnish spraying,but SOME HOW found something to laser,cost 5,000bt.

when i went back to oz,My dermatoligist [one of best in oz]when i asked about laser to cutting said laser can NEVER BE 100% AS U HAVE NO FINAL BIOPSY.

I have to agree with all lopburi says,i was cut in OZ for BCC,in OZ u have to book 2/3 months in advance which i did.

1st visit was spray and check, 2nd was BCC cut out [two]one came back early melanoma ,could not change flight back to thailand, so decided to have it done here,had pathology sent to bumrigrad,ask for dermo to cut,dermo's dont cut they said,get plastic/s, i said its on my back not face,in OZ i told then GP or dermatoligist cut,after general/surgeon,1st one cancelled,2nd booked me in for day surgery,went over pahology test with him ,i had to help understand results, results said 9 oclock,i said just cut big hole around 9 oclock, i am not leaving till you cut me,as he was not sure,,which he did, cost 12,000 baht.

had to get on the them about results on path, but he did a good job.

dermo's dont cut here [skin cancers],

my dermo back in oz cost me 850bucks for 2 visits and pathology 970 bucks,got back 40% from medicare,i could'nt belive path was more than the dermo. i go back to oz eack yr and get checked,i have put a claim in for skin cancer,

have had them for 35yrs,when claiming last JOB PAYS,takes awhile i am still waiting,was accesed at 11% they work on the USA method.

If you don't want the Thai government to get your assets then don't let a Thai lawyer get them either

Get an English simple will translated from one of the translating companies you see here at Thai Visa

Go to the Amphur in Bamlamung and have them process and register it for you

You will need 1. copy of your Passport (Face page and Visa) 2. A medical certificate available for 100-150 THB from any clinic 3. Original and copy of the Thai and English Will 4. You will need two Thai witnesses (the girls at the Amphur will be most happy to be your witnesses (don't forget to tip) 5. Take your girl so she can show them her Thai ID card 6. 20 THB baht to pay for it all

They will witness everything, place the information in their registry book, and will seal the envelope containing the Will in an envelope, place it into storage, and will give you a receipt

Using a lawyer is fraught with danger since they will not register the Will until you are dead and then how do you know that what you wrote is what was registered

This way you maintain control through the whole process. The only caveat is that in case of any dispute the Thai version of the Will will take precedence

BTW. I did the above process less than a year ago and the requirements I cited are directly from the Banglamung Amphur

Who do you trust the most, a lawyer or yourself ? This is one time where the DYI route is the best and safest way to go

Thanks laugsuan man great adivce,it would make sence to have the wife ,,[my wife at least and legal],,make a will at the amphur as well, and save the lawyer,i did go to one a while back[lawyer] who said the will would be stamped by judge or whoever in wax ,if wax broken before read null and void.but never got around to it.we have 2 kids now and god forbid

nothing happens to her but things would get difficult if all things are in her name and she was to pass away

WE have booked our kids into a school in sattahip,english progam ,,,kids 3 and 9 yrs,,,and will be moving back to pattaya next week after 2 yrs in korat.

our house in pattaya is still rented out, the wife said she wanted to be near the school[28ks from pattaya]we looked from bang saray to sattahip for a nice village with pool and safe for the kids to play,all seem to either not have village pool or play area[new or old villages] or were in the middle of no where.after bang saray up to sattahip is navy,hard to get to the sea,bangsaray back down to jomiem on the sea side of the hwy is nice i checked the net for rentals ,[pattaya,jomtiem area]house's from 15,000bt up,mainly non village.

We settled for a house back near pattaya a k up the rd from our rented out house in soi satit,or soi greenway[golf range]up from the aqurium,,dark side.only 20/25 min in car to school,5min to jomtiem and 10 min to pattaya there abouts.

The school if interested is called Dhammasiri suksa sattahip run by govt and navy,15,000bt a term english program for 9yr old, 3 1/2 yr old in kindi for now,9,000bt,, already been going nursery 1 yr.i use to send 9yr old to satit,but our neighbours 9 yr old sent her kid to sattahip 3yrs ago and can read and write english well and has improved 200%.

you have to book i year in advance for english progam.

best thing is come for a holiday and look for yourself from jomtiem to banphe, is great.

As what happened to a friend of a friend who was bar finded and the man she went with had a stroke in the room [hotel on tour]she rang my friend as she did not know what to do,friend came and some how got him in the car and took him to bkk pat hospital,he had 2/3 visa cards on him, but could not talk or write to give them pin numbers,bkk P,H SAID NO MONEY NO LOOK AFTER so they sent him to bunglamung hospital, [no facilitys for strokes[ so they sent him to chonburi,where friend and friend went with him, he was keeped in hall on trolley ,as we know strokes must be dealt with within the hr as least,friend rang me i rang hospital i said he had insurance or i would pay, so they sent him back to bkk p h,after ringing his embassy and stating his prob, they said up to him, that next day i sent friend to hotel to check he's bags [maybe insurance]low and behold they found policy[had to get permission from hotel]he was on tour and no one knew nothing of it as hotel did not tell tour opp till too late.

bkk p h,all of a sudden became angles put him isu, and was looked after till sent back to sweden, he was visited nearly every day by friends for month or more till they sent him back,one day my friends came to me and were crying,

saying he was crying when we visited,cause he could not belive people he did not know helped him ,where he's EMBASSY WOULD'NT...MORAL YOU MAYBE NOT SO LUCKY ALWAYS CARRY SOME SORT OF ID OR CONTACT NUMBER.

I got the 90 day ext before my visa run out[5/1/11] stamped till 27th march,i was going to nonkai from korat for a race and get 2 weeks on 26/27th ,but car'nt make it..i am due to fly back to OZ 5th april.

we will be in jomtiem from the 10/3/11,do i have to pay 1900bt for 10 or 14 day ext,or do i take the mrs and kids in and apply on family grounds,,married,,or do i need to do a visa run....my non O is not retirement visa.also the 27th is a sunday.

In the villages and places where i use to ride outside pattaya i use to carry a stick across my bars.but after talking to others,was told to slow down when they come at you,or chase them on your bike,as i do,,,the natural instint of an annimal is to chase what runs,since doing the above never had a prob and never carry a stick,but i did love them coming up to me and wacking them on the nose.

If the son /daughters name is in mothers surname[birth/cert] and with a signed letter from 3 relatives, at the ban amphur.to show sole custody would it be be enough to change surname.wife was told to go to bkk to do it,by local ban amphur.a lot eaiser option to adoption.

It IS a mafia (AND a transport monopoly) in the sense that city hall (hint hint) allowed the taxi "fake" meters to be controlled by the same organized syndicate that owns the baht buses. No non-corrupt government in the world would ever do such a thing. I don't buy the distances too short BS. The Pattaya metro area when you add dark side, Naklua, Na Jomtien ... is HUGE. Plus you do indeed have intense population density here in the central areas ... LIKE BANGKOK. Plus the monopoly poorly serves or doesn't serve important areas at all, such as THIRD ROAD, Thepprasit Road, etc. The meter sets could be set somewhat higher than Bangkok if warranted, that's another matter entirely.

Foreigners making excuses and defending this totally corrupt system is seriously laughable. I will give credit where credit is due though, 10 baht is an attractively low fare for the "bus" part of the system. But it all goes to pot when you need a charter.
