That might be the illusion/delusion, but certainly in terms of the government there is little doubt about where their sympathies/under who’s influence they lie. As both Finland and Sweden have admitted ,and Ukraine painfully discovered,there is no real neutrality which might absolve you from conflict . The former 2 will join NATO as a result of this and the latter should they eventually emerge as a result of Russian failure will be anxious to join both that and the EU.

There has been no formal (or otherwise) declaration of war. One country has simply illegally invaded the sovereign territory of another unprovoked,including the deliberate shelling and slaughter of innocent civilians via civilian targets ,which include child casualties ,which constitutes an international war crime .

You think it doesn’t bring opprobrium (and thus involvement) from the many others when refusing to condemn the most egregious acts like say,slavery,war crimes, FGM and genocide ? This is the violent ,unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country. Abstentions are noted and send an unwelcome message and damaging judgement by others of equivocation. Very naive to consider otherwise

Yet on the UN resolution condemning Russian invasion of Ukraine Thailand is shown as "supporting " the resolution. 35 countries abstained (Pakistan,India and a slew of African countries including South Africa) with 5 against . So how does this square with their statement of neutrality??

Somewhat over simplistic. It’s hardly like Russia is a democracy and citizens are all behind their leader (think of Thailand in that respect too). The fallout for ordinary Russians of this action is proving very hard (as evidenced here) so do you think they are cheering Putin on ?

I expected their position and announcements to reflect - even be composed by - their masters ????????. They didn’t disappoint…. ????

Said a blinkered person with little understanding of the wider implications,nor of China’s malevolent eye watching and plotting its own moves which certainly will make you sit up given this country’s vulnerability/affinity with it. The place where you will spend a reasonably large chunk of time is on the roads (unless a hermit) . Feel safer there in Thailand than in European countries,do you ?

They’re like a child knowing they have to eat their vegetables ,but first push it around on the plate for several minutes ,eventually putting it to their mouth then back down again ,all the while sulking. They need to be ushered to the naughty step! ????

There’ll be no legitimate function allowed to vote for a significant change in direction- we all know how that works. The question is will the average Joe here cast aside his apathy ,or even inform himself properly to understand the noose is tightening. Not the sharpest tools in the shed nor sufficiently educated/aware of the world outside Thailand. Will those that do be sufficient to create the necessary momentum?

Hanlon’s Razor indeed. I jokingly invented the "Thai Thick Gene" to explain much of this,but it increasingly seems a reality! ???? Compounding this is the prevalence within officials of the Dunning- Kruger effect.
