LOL. Loads of tourists coming from Asia that DON'T drink in barbeers, non Chinese restaurants etc.

Stay in Chinese hotels, drink in hotel bars, eat in Chinese restaurants. The rest of Pattaya doesn't get a look in.

Been going on in LOS since at least the 1970s when I did a 2 week tour with a Singaporean company.

Just because posters on TVF don't see them, it doesn't mean they ain't around. Take a trip to Larn and see how many are eating in the sea food restaurants.

    Ye

Yep, then watch them all go take a 3 minute "swim" to take a piss.

Different sources are coming up with different prognostications. I don't even think a Thai fortune teller would be able to say what will happen tomorrow.

An excessive increase will almost certainly affect what remains of the Western tourist industry.

Retired expats are leaving in droves looking for better places, which do exist.  In 2015 LOS was listed as #18.  They're going downhill from there.  Thailand is well on it's way to authoritarian rule as corruption is a way of life and the ability of a foreigner to trust anything in their "new home" erodes to zero.  A new stab-in-the-back tax will fill the airport for a long time, no short time.

Not an easy thing to measure, but looking at averages of test results prior to 2000 and post 2000, it appears there has been some improvement, certainly there is not evidence to suggest that IQ's are lowering in Thailand and it remains well within the top 20 most intelligent countries in the world, despite what some expats might have you believe.

Oh, so this is BS...https://www.worlddata.info/iq-by-country.php?   It is a compilation of nine studies.

You can live without booze and cheap women??? Oh, dear! Please post the recipe in this forum. It´s gonna be vital and extremely important to hundreds of members. :cheesy:

Didn't mean I could live without booze and cheap women.  But other places have that and MORE to offer.  Like...swimming in an ocean that isn't also the sewer, for one, and I could go on but it appears your ONLY interest in life IS booze and cheap women.

Checking papers and asking where they are going.  Freedom isnt really one of Prayuths likes.  The military shouldnt be oppressing citizens like this, its archaic and barbaric and no place in modern society.

Ah, there lies your problem.  You have a misunderstanding of the word "modern".

All western countries have defamation/libel laws, including the UK where the BBC adhere to the letter, but they come to Thailand and think they are above the law.

JH is a professional Thai basher... So som nom na!

"Professional"?  You don't have to go far to find problems that should be published in Thailand.  Like....Why do they let tourists swim in the water in Pattaya & Jomtien when they KNOW it's pumped full of raw sewage EVERY night?  Yeah, some "resort".

A whole lot of people seem to get marriage extensions (not visas) without any problem. If you're facing difficulty getting a one year extension, why would you assume getting a visa or extension for a longer period would be problem free?

I have no plans to apply for this visa, but why would you assume that many retirees have less of a connection to Thailand than you do. Many retirees are married to Thais and have children here.

I have an eighteen year connection to Thailand and get retirement extensions every year. Why is someone who chose to get married so much more "connected" to Thailand?

Because eventually you'll be giving it all to Thailand and be left with nothing.
