  1. Bangkok Bank NY is the transfer point - you ACH to there routing and provide your local Thailand account number.  You do not have an account with New York branch.
Does 8th local account you refer to have to always be that special locked account? That accord still in chiang mai and every time I transfer money from that I'm hit with several hundred baht fee..i know.. I should open one more locally..

I suspect you could do as many other and have deposit made into a US account and then transfer what you need to Thailand if you want to use specific bank.  I have direct deposit of OPM pension to USAA account in states and then use web to transfer what I want visa ACH to my normal Bangkok Bank account.  Do not have to visit bank with this method and have funds outside Thailand for USD expenses.

Oh really? So can transfer money via ACH or a wire to the normal Bangkok bank account? Wire is expensive.. ACH is free.. but I thought ACH was only to the bangkok bank in NYC? Im confused. It happens

Good to hear you got it sorted, but you cannot "avoid this office!" at NST if you live there sometimes. I too got hit with the fine threat as soon as I walked in door there for not submitting the TM30 (not a TM47 as your o/p) to indicate I moved into their region. It's supposed to be done within 24 hours of arrival! Just get the house owner (they have them all listed on their db) to sign current date and they will accept it even if it is 2 months after you arrived like I did. Since then we all get on fine and all 4 of those officers came to my house to see if I was OK.

You had this same treatment at the NST office? Yes.. exactly.. before even looking at my passport.. before even really listening to the issue at hand.. the officer really laid into me.. repeating many times... did I change my address.. we will fine you.. did you register your new address.. he said this probably 10 times.. then mentioned the 6.000 baht fine. Not at all helpful or friendly. which by the way is my first encounter with such a government offcicer.. driving licence, immigration, amphur staff . all helpful and pleasant ...until this chap in my own back garden! I'll bake him a cake next time I say hello. Smile and wave.

  4. All fixed now. A trip to surat thani Immigration in the city.. Less then 20 minutes to explain... And get it fixed. No fee to me.

Not to all.. The crew at NST were not helpful at all in this instance.. 4 people.. 2 computers .. Hundreds of page flips in my passport.. and I was only shown the door...they refused to help me And threatened with a 6.000 baht fine for not turning in my address notice.. I don't have to.. I just re entered on November 8th! Avoid this office!

on that type of account they can not issue a debit card. you are required to go to the bank to get your money or transfer it to a regular account that issues a debit card.

no there are no other banks that get direct deposit.

you can still get a visa card, they have to order it and takes a week. you have to push them. make sure you tell them you need it to make purchases on line! the union pay card is useless and can not use for on line purchases.

what i do is an ach transfer to bkk. bank in n.y. it takes 2business days to get to my account. it is cheaper than swift. it goes to a regular account not the locked direct deposit account. a little effort to set it up, but when done works great. the only time i have an issue is when a u.s. holiday is followed by a Thai. holiday when all the banks are closed.

Correct, I have 2 accounts.. one that receives the SS pension and then I go to the bank to transfer.

  6. Not stealing your thunder but I was thinking the OP could do that.
If he has a border crossing not too far away, go out, maybe stay one night and come back in with the visa number on the TM6.
For me I can't see a 'legal' problem with it.
I'm off to Japan on the 17th.. So yes.. If the exit date is too difficult to fix.. Ask for a 30 day extension. Thus is the first and LAST time I will allow this yo happen to me. I will be more vigilant when arriving and getting stamped

  7. I currently receive my usa pension via a special account at Bank of Bangkok.

Is this bank still the only bank that will accept my American pension?

My reason for wanting to leave bank of Bangkok is they are still refusing to give me a debit card with a visa or mastercard logo.. Out the nearly useless union pay.

  8. No, I have the rope, it was merely a metaphor. OK.. I will try to keep the situation brief. But I THINK that a small problem is turning into a BIG problem.

I have been living Thailand for the past 3 years staying here on OA visas. My current OA visa expires May 2018. I have left Thailand on 2 occasions since may 2018 and all was well.. multiples entry OA visa. My most recent ENTRY stamp is/was wrong it was stamped for a 30 day stay which expires December 9! I am leaving from Surat Thani via DMK next week to Japan... I went to my local immigration office .. I live in Khanom Nahko si Thamorat...today thinking I was being proactive a "good man".

The officer not only refused to help me one iota but he also threatened me with a 6.000 baht fine because I had forgotten to update my address via a TM47. Now I have TWO problems. However I rent a house here and my landlord has, in the past, he has updated my address..is the really HIS responsibility or mine? I was refused any help at all and direct to go to BKK where "they made the mistake". :post-4641-1156693976:

QUESTION... do I really have to travel to BKK to fix this by law... or by law is any immigration supposed to be able to fix this mistake? I mean, after Dec 9th I am here illegally because my passport is stamped dec 9 leave by date and yet I have an OA visa that says leave by May 2017. Which of these takes precedence?? I am thinking of going to the immigration people at Surat Thani city to fix this.. am I allowed to do this if I live in NST.. my wife does have family in Surat and I suppose I stay there a few days a month too.. so that's also my house to.. ..

I spent 3 hours driving on partially flooded roads to fix this mistake.. they said it was my responsibility to check ..I'm thinking... I don't get paid to check your stamps.,, but YOUR men do!! BTW .. I always dress up for the occasion.. jeans and real shoes 55 and a nice clean shirt.. out of respect.. and I always smile and have a relaxed demeanor.. I got zero respect in return was treated like garbage ..I also had my thai wife with me.. who tried to help.. but to no avail.

    TIA for any help offered.

  9. My Thai wife would like to visit England or USA

I was born in England and also have a USA passport.

My wife is getting a little frustrated, as am I, that getting a tourist visa is not only not easy but many times rejected. Also the possibility of citizenship from UK or USA is about zero.. Because I do not want to live for several years in these countries to be either my wife to satisfy the citizenship laws. Just frustrating all around and my wife finds my answers a little hard to believe.

For example she just mentioned the Thai girl.. 24 years old.. Who is on the reality TV show and is heading to the USA to meet her 48 American bf family! My wife has an excellent point! How the heck is that possible for this 24 year old Thai girl?

  10. You can get it fixed at your local immigration office.

In the future, always check immigration stamps before moving on. Such errors are not uncommon, and needing a special visit to immigration to get them fixed is irritating.
I agree! I was very very tired.. Normally I do.. Murphy Law!

  11. I just noticed a mistake in my passport. I am in Thailand on a O-A visa multi entry.. First year expires June 2018. Upon returning from an overseas trip a few weeks ago, my passport was stamped for me to leave Thailand after 30 days! December 7 to be exact. Is this easy to sort out now at my local immigration office? Or a bigger problem?

  12. I have a budget of 600.000 and I am researching reviews in Thailand for the best compact car. Toyota Yaris seems popular.. but can I do better for similar money?

Plus.. Is there a dignify price difference buying a new car in Bangkok for example rather than near my home in nahkon si tamarat? Cheers. Thanks.

  13. Lets bet there are not punishments for the kid driver or his family.

I feel so bad for the couple that got injured.

I see children driving motor bikes a lot out where I live... kids that look no older than 10, with even younger children and toddlers on the back.. none with helmets on... going all over the road.  Nobody does anything, because it seems nobody could give a toss about the children, or anyone else apart from themselves.

Unless one of hits one of those kids! Then we are the ones in deep trouble!
