  5. last time i tipped 2018 was at a genuine thai massage shop in day night area in pattaya behind Tukcom. I think a foot massage was 150 b ,out came a feminine ladyboy type who done a regular foot massage. After the massage i tipped 100b in which he/she didnt even acknowledge before screeching aloud to the farang owner who gave me a dirty look. How much i was supposed to tip ? i thought 100 was ok,never again i went there Same a few years ago in Simons jomtien fish n chip shop,a waitress said to me BEFORE she took my order, "how much you can tip me ???
  6. i think the legislation was changed a few years ago in regards to the disability pension being paid overseas. i remeber back in 2005 a aussie bar owner bragging to me how he ran a bar and received the DSP too,all he had to do was go back every 3 months apparently. stay a night in OZ and fly back to thailand the next day to qualify.
  7. but they never ban that troublemaker alcohol
  8. i know but after listening to that podacst of that bar owner saying he was threatened im scared,if they done that to him they are not going to be scared of elderly farang bar owners, but they probaly wouldnt go for a single bar owner who has a hobby hopefully anyway
  9. well i tried mostly everything, viagra just gives me a headache,im early 60's still go to gym everyday, even done heavy leg work, still doesnt go up
  10. I once had dreams of being a pattaya bar owner, mind you this was over 25 years ago when things were pumping . All these things i was going to do,buy condos etc and im glad i never ever did. Many say its the BIB you had to be careful of when running a bar...Fast forward and yesterday i listened to a podcast of a former well known pattaya bar owner who despite his "power" talked how he was threatened by Aussie criminals bikies and the trouble he had to go to to protect his family. I still have dreams of one day retiring and buying a bar although as i get older and come to my senses it would have to be more of a "hobby" than profit. Im sure all of us ,yes all of us have dreamed of owning a girlie bar but never will. I was looking at my diary of 2004 where i went to a go go bar in Walking street at 3 million baht back then, glad i never did, what was i thinking ? yet so many guys were saying back then to buy , pattaya was going to be the world class city with casino etc but never did
  11. he worked with me as a wardsman in a hospital in Australia but was originally from Liverpool in the UK Behind his back he was nicknamed the whinging pom ????
  12. I met a retired roofer at the canterbury tales cafe in pattaya a few years ago, he was 60 and just retired from the UK, strange guy looked very fit ,and i asked him if he retired because of the physical work and of a sudden he went into a spiel about how he had "fights" with other tradesmen all day on construction sites..."used to go home with bloodied t shirts" he said.???? "I had to finally give it away " He wasnt too happy when i said ,"so there wasnt much occupational health & safety on site then ????? No idea who he was "fighting" ??? but he was a strange one
  13. I guess going from one career to another is more common nowadays,i remember my parents generation stayed in their jobs 25 years or more back in those days. I think 48 is too young to retire though
  14. I know the majority of residences are houses with gardens etc but anyone live in a condo in Udon thani or a isaan city? im looking at a retirement place preferably in udon thani ,prefer a Condo that i can rent long term is secure and close to everything eg gym, supermarkets etc Im not into gardening or backyards how do you like living in a condo in isaan especially places like khon kaen etc
  15. sounds like most of my work colleagues in the hospital i work at????
  16. Anyone had these penile injections for ED? Im finding viagra cialis etc not effective anymore is there any erectile dysfinction clinincs in bangkok?
  17. Would love that job,luv the smell of fresh green grass, free golf, outdoors all day, that would be a dream job,why would you want to retire?????️‍♂️
  18. To those of us mature aged eg over 60,or expats, what was your past job and how long did you remain there? Most people in our GEN remained in a job 30 plus years unlike nowadays Was you glad to retire and get out OR do you sometimes wish to go back to work? The reason i say this is because earlier this year i had a workmate 67yo retire to the phillipines ,every time i spoke to him he mentioned how he missed work. When he was at work he did nothing but complain. So the questions are What was your past jobs ? are you happy you retired or do you still miss work? Did you lke going to work everyday or was you glad to get out Who had a job they remained in past 30 years ? If you had that decision not to retire when you did would you have kept on working a few more years ? Do you regret retiring then? Bear in mind financial considerations, most countries you cant get the old age pension till 67yo,so you would need to rely on your retirement savings and many nowadays are not saving Do you ever sit in Asia wherever you are and think,i really wish i stayed with my job,or i wished i worked a few more years or i miss the camraderie and friends or routine of my past job,i always remember talking to a ol english guy at a bar in pattaya who told me he missed his job as a bus driver in london because his workmates were like family and now in thailand he was a bit bored and retired too early
  19. Reminds me when i went out for the day with a old friend last year here in Australia. He is 70yo and was very bad in his younger years ,i remember in the late 1970's him stealing cars and burning them out in Western Sydney just for fun and shouting out obscenties to people from the car as we went past ....calling names "hey granny i wanna f....you ,etc Fast forward to last year and we are walking in the street and we see some young people just skylarking he starts telling me "look at these bloody louts ",look at this generation, what hoodlums we have nowadays ????????????
  20. omg ..this sort of stuff used to go on all the time
  21. i looked at that website,i cant understand why someone would pay 102 a month to be a private patient in a public hospital???? They would treat you the same as the public patients .....my apologies to non residents of Australia if we are talking about health funds in Australia, its just some expats still keep health insurance in their own country just in case
  22. I dont think i will bother with medical/health insurance when i retire to Asia . I will take out "accident " type insurance and self fund the rest. If i get something major i will head back to Australia and use the free hospital system, not that the Public Hospital system is any better though . There doesnt seem much they can do for you anyway once you get the big C. Both my pparents died from Cancer and unfortanetely both over 80 so the Public system didnt prioritise them for chemo treatment ,i imagine if you pay privately though they will do it even if there is no hope. But even in your own country once you get elderly they seem hesitant to give you Chemo, whether thats for your quality of life sometimes or they just prioritise to someone younger ,i bet on the latter. Im going to tell you something though ,i have seen cases personally of terminal ill patients getting radiotheraphy and they didnt even turn the machine on n the public system because the patient was too terminal so dont think because you pay expensive insurance that somehow they will CURE your condition I watched a famous pattaya you tuber die last year so have no faith in the treatment in Thailand even though he seemed to be paying before he went back at the last minute to the UK. Some of you are paying ludicrous prices for health insurance ,im not sure if you have a "excess" to pay as well,in the case i mentioned above and i mention no names as per the forum rules he in hindsight should of gone back to the UK ....but ...they probaly couldnt of done much more anyway but he would of saved money Accident insurance yes ,but im hesitant to waste 120,000 baht a year on top cover i may never use, look i know some of you dont have free public hospital system in your own country eg I think the USA ,so i understand, but the rest of us have free health system in our own country even if its not the best, how many of you have had problems with the health insurance companies or hospitals? im even sick of paying health insurance here in Australia and probaly will just rely free on the public system soon,im paying over $200 every month for what ? im thinking the other nigh getting arm pain from this vaccine i call a ambulance they will take me to emergency section at a public hospital anyway as theres no emergency at private hospitals ,so this is the same in Asia ,how many private hospital have a "emergency" section? Bangkok pattaya hospital doesnt as far as i know As this is more a "Asia" forum now than just a thai focused forum i would be interested in you guys living in Laos, phillipines ,indonesia etc and if you have private health insurance and quality of hospital services where you live ,in fact there are farangs in Pattaya who talk highly of the Public Navy hospital all for free Who has used the public system in Thailand/Asia ?
