Violent crime? 2 weeks ago I was in Manila my first time On the Monday & Tuesday night what was it MAY 20/21 I walked up and down the Manila subway , didn't see any crime and I did it two nights in a row from 10pm to midnight I was stopped by 2 tattoed singlet wearing guys at a "rough" subway station called Abdo Santos,they were undercover railway police ,they were very polite to me and didn't look like police,they advised me they had been notified by their CCTV office that I had been walking around for a few hours ,but they were firm but polite to me There are like 2 or 3 security guards at every station ,

Old people? 🤣 You talking about ones with walking sticks ,limping etc ? I still do weights most days ,and run up stairs . Not all old people are oldb

Maybe Bangkok is better for me ..as I got older 60, I have my NEEDS far different from 20 years ago. "*I want to retire to a safe environment where J can walk safely at night *I want to be close to public transport * I want to be close to food markets , shopping places * House or Condo ,although I prefer a house with a small garden *I like going to museums ,bookshops , secondhand shops , cafes but not Starbucks *I like the gym and have to be close to one

I don't even know what a Ducati is ,it's a motorcycle??? Or sports car ? I'm not interested in cars ,I live in a apartment in the City , I don't like driving . I'm not interested in materialistic stuff ,you are ,I don't like to spend money . I have money in my superannuation but I don't want to spend it In fact when I was in Pattaya ( I'm now back in Australia) I kept a list of my spending. Some of my boredom was I admit....yes I admit was ... because I refuse to spend money ... at bars etc I bought my t shirts for 40 baht at the Soi Bukhao markets I like going to the gym to lift weights I like walking from Jomtien to Pattaya ,I done it a few times ,not easy

Interesting. 3 years? You lived there for 3 years? What happened,you lost interest or got bored ??? Has anyone else done that ? Retired and went to live in Thailand but decided to go back to your country and just come on a holiday basis??? ..but once upon a time years ago I dreamt of retiring here ! What happened as I come towards retirement? Its not for me I guess ? I don't want to wake up every morning with nothing to do I would rather go to work Maybe if I had a business or something Anyway I'm leaving today and back to work Sunday night shift 😁

Your probably right Susan ,staying 6 weeks in the view talay condos with a week in Philippines,I should of done more places I got a great discount by taking Airbnb for a month ,I think it was like 10k baht If I had my time again I wouldn't stay so long in Pattaya,I would do a few days then Bangkok ,Chiang Mai ,Udon etc

I have never touched snow or been in it so I would welcome it for a week. Anyway I'm leaving...on a jet plane....don't know when I will back again...I'm leaving on a jet plane

Oh I saw some SAD cases sitting in both View talay condos and Arcadia Some regret retiring too early ,life confined to a room . Drinking alcohol , doing nothing all day ,trying to make conversations with strangers etc All bored out of their minds ,decrepit ,red noses caused by alcohol Not a happy retirement for most I saw That view talay was like a old people home , Please please don't lock me up there I'm going back to my "normal" world I may retire ,when that time comes to somewhere else not Pattaya old people home

Regardless, retiring to Pattaya , leaving my job etc is not for me at this stage of my life If you are contemplating retiring ( to Pattaya) THINK with your brain instead of your Dick , I have come to realise that some guys are retiring to be with a Thai partner in Pattaya,only for that to go SOUTH after a few months They then get stuck in shoe box rooms sitting by that evil bloody pool everyday ,drinking outside that mini mart I'm dreading retirement to be here bored,I would rather go to work

My last night tonight Can't wait to get back to Australia

Times change I can't retire here ,I'm sorry , I need to keep working,to keep a routine or I need something to do ,like a business to run. I can't sit by that bloody pool all day I have had enough !!!

Just walked out of my condo building to see the same farangs again sitting outside the mini mart with beers Shirts off in their 60's some I would say younger Very large red nose, shouting ,giggling That's their routine and you expect this as normal !

7 weeks is too long in one place ! I probably won't come here again all I saw was drunken old fools ! I need to be on a place that Stimulates my mind ,a place where people are of intelligent,and interesting , NOT sitting by a pool in view talay !!!!!

Exactly I have moved buildings to Arcadia resort where I see the same drunken farangs buying cheap Leo to drown their sorrows Please is retirement not for me or is Pattaya? I do like Manila riding the subway could see myself living there so I could walk up & down the subway

I can retire tomorrow if I want I can access my Superannuation But ...but....the question is....if I did ...say I retired from my job tomorrow...accessed the Super Then what?? So I retire to view talay in a room , the super company send me 65,000 baht a month then I do what ? Sit by the pool everyday ? What will I do

Im going for walks, I'm going for massage, I'm sitting by the pool ,I'm going to the gym .... I don't like to drink or bars Could I live like this if I retired ? No thanks You know how depressed I would be sitting in a dark 21sqm room in the view talay?

I look forward to going back to a routine These old drunken old expats don't have routines I watch one old guy every morning sit at that mini mart opposite Arcadia resort with the other drinks he then waddles up to his room in a stupor Please I don't want to end up with NO routine Waking up to do the same drinking all day I honestly believe these guys were NOT alcoholicd before they lived in Pattaya They are bored with their life's ,no routine,nothing to do etc

Well I'm going back to Australia tommrrw after spending 7 weeks on off in Pattaya And I'm looking forward to going back ! I done my study of the retired single guys here living in small rooms in both View talay and Arcadia Beach resort and what a booooring life everyday Waking up , in a small room ,some yes same without balconies Waking up toddling down to the pool , staying all day on ASEAN then as my newly found old friend I met at Arcadia resort does ,he can't wait till the bars open so he can go get drunk and waddle Home in the evening to sleep and do it all again Some even sit ALL day at a cafe bookshop to get company What a boring life I'm so bored I can't wait to mop the hospital floors on my next shift on Sunday Waking up , doing nothing all day Ok for a few weeks but please please don't sentence me to 20 years of it No thanks not for me I need to do something in my retirement,sit by a pool is ok for a couple of days but no I'm not going to sit at hard drinking like these drunken old fools I see everyday Even opposite I see a mini mart with drunks sitting outside drinking beer all day same guys ,same guys unfit looking shirts off in the evening after drinking the cheap mini mart beer they drunkenly go up to their rooms Maybe ok for a 75plus single guy but please you are just wasting days
