  1. Make it easier for expats to stay and spend money. And they will. nuff said.
  2. Thais have a hard time ever lowering the price of anything can sit for a while, life condos, land, and alcohol. They would rather hike the price to try and make up lost revenue. It's the Thai way. Some golf courses have realized that an unused course is negative revenue and lately have lowered their prices, but they are the only ones that I've seen that understand what the airlines have known for years: that an empty seat is lost revenue.
  3. Immigration is closed on Saturdays and Sunday. What's up with this story?
  4. What happened to all those ultra wealthy tourists? The ones that like a beer with lunch, a glass of wine with dinner, a massage with a happy ending, and competitive boutique pricing like they have in Singapore. Actually everything like they have in Singapore. here you get no alcohol, 9pm curfew, heavy traffic, lack of adequate mass transit. broken sidewalks when you can find one while dodging motorbikes and lots of places that don't take credit cards. As a tourist of any kind, a smile on the face of local and a wai just won't cut it.
  5. This seems like hot air to me! The price of wine will stay the same or go higher.
  6. Give the guy a break. He's just trying to justify his salary and brown envelope donations. Just because he's stupid doesn't mean he's a good person. I guess restaurants will just look the other way since they have to try and make up for the losses this guy has put on them. Or people under 50 who aren't pregnant and can't get the nonexistent vaccines are just going to eat on the go. Just another typical day in the land of stupid.
  7. I find problems with clothes, shoes, and socks. XL doesn't mean XL here. Hard to find size 12 (USA) shoes and socks. I have to try on everything to make sure they are a good fit.
  8. Bangkok the next Singapore? It could be done. Change the cultural makeup, change the government, fire all the generals and high ranking policemen, actually give tourists a clean safe, uncorrupted place to enjoy. I guess we only dream.
  9. Let me know when golf courses and restuarants are open and allowed to serve alcohol. When they are, I'll visit Hua Hin, stay in a 5 star hotel, play golf and spent a lot money. Otherwise there's no need to go.
  10. My credit card has no foreign exchange fees. I always tell the cashier I want the purchase in Thai baht. Sometimes they show what the conversion is in USD and it is always around 5% less. A recent example, earlier this week I went to Medpark Hospital for a free pfizer jab (yay free) and stayed in a hotel where the studio suite was usually 2500 baht, but on sale for 1500 baht so I stayed 2 nights. They showed me the 3000 baht charge in USD and it was $95. I asked for Thai baht and when I checked the charge on my internet account it was $90 or a difference of $5 or 165 bht. It doesn't take an accountant to know if you use a credit card with no foreign exchange fees in Thailand and spend 100 times my 3000 baht a person can save 16500 bht or $500. Big C, 7-11. Family mart, most gas stations and golf courses (when we're able to play) take credit cards. I stopped going to Makro for big purchases because of their credit card policies.
  11. Received my jab yesterday. Had a 1pm appointment, but arrived 12:15, went right in and received a number. Very smooth. Jab was pfizer. Out at 1:15. Second jab on September 7. Congrats to Medpark Hospital for a very efficient operation.
  12. Beware of an sms sent to verified. It will probably be in the Thai language, so need someone to translate, better have that person available within the 24 hour deadline.
  13. They'll probably want everyone to go to Bangkok to get the shot. That way we can get infected on the way there.
