  1. What an idiot. He ruined many lives with his greed, plus his own elder years. Karma?
  2. Looking at Nate, confirms my life-long policy of never forcing a smile. I'd rather look glum than to force a smile and look like a monkey (sorry monkeys).
  3. I know some Thai minivans are larger and configured differently but I was basing it on standard North American vans, two buckets at front and two 3X rear seats = 8. I can feel my brakes diminish with just a 500 pound load in the back. Steering can be affected too.
  4. 19 persons in what I assume was an 8 passenger minivan. Unquestionably, the braking capability was grossly diminished.
  5. I would think determining BEST beaches would be a subjective process. Any other method would be like separating grains of sand. What seems best to Tom may not be best to Dick or Harry.
  6. The video of the incident didn't make it to my feed.
  7. Like a former leader in another country liked to say, "we'll see, we'll see how it goes".
  8. Nice bit of badly needed, free advertising. I hope those who have TIME aren't disappointed.
  9. They also abandon their natural hunting ability if human fed. They then return to the human source of "low hanging fruit"
  10. It's early in this article but I expect soon to see comments referencing Darwin awards (Darwin, name of the 1-year old).
  11. Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. They've got many steps to go before returning to the Chinese-portion of the 40 million annual visitors.
  12. I've never heard of a gratuitous tip being misconstrued as illegal. I left a tip for her time and company, NOT my room number.
  13. I had a used MGB back in the sixties (Canada). The electrical system sure didn't like the rain! But that old MGB gave me the sports car bug. Next came a brand new Datsun (now Nissan) 280Z in 1976. Now there was a sports car, rain or shine (or snow).
  14. I once arrived late in Surat Thani City and not knowing in my early Thailand days, what an in/out accommodation was all about, I booked a room at one. The room was great, clean, everything worked, hmm, there was a packaged condom on the bed. I was intrigued by the view across the way. Couldn't figure out why each room had curtains in front of the guest car-park area, LOL, like I said, I was naive. I went to the attached karaoke bar for a beer, saw the hostess make eye contact with a pretty young gal who slinked over and sat tightly beside me. She had to be all of 17. My naivety soon passed, I got the picture. I drank my beer, and just to be safe, left some money on the table and indicated it was for her. Then I quietly made my escape, alone!
  15. He sounds like he could kill a bowl of cereal pretty quick. The breakfast of champions type of guy.
  16. A 17-year old (Thai girl) does not possess that level of rationale, unfortunately.
