  1. $411M USD per kilometer But a good deal for China as it loaned the funds to Thailand at higher than Sovereign interest rate to build the rail line.
  2. 2024: https://livingcostcost.org "The cost of living in Bangkok is 42% less expensive than in Tokyo. Cities ranked 5960th and 3238th ($902 vs $1556) in the list of the most expensive cities in the world and ranked 1st and 3rd in Thailand and Japan, respectively." The average after-tax salary is enough to cover living expenses for 0.7 months in Bangkok compared to 1.9 months in Tokyo. Bangkok ranked 1st best city to live in Thailand vs Tokyo ranked 1st in Japan"
  3. Spend the day at the largest shopping mall you can find, see a movie, check for clothes bargains, restaurant choices, etc. If you have a car park inside mall, never exposed to outside "blessings."
  4. Hard to tell if the tables are on private restaurant property. But the seating area seems rather a large area and likely facing the beach versus facing a road. So the seating area may be on public beach property. If so, I could see the restaurant owner justifing use of public-owned buoys in a public area by the restaurant. That then begs the question, who authorized such business use for the buoys? Hopefully there will be a quick investigation.
  5. "It was pointed out that while the road drilling work was mostly done at night with these holes being covered when morning approached to open the way for traffic, the roads are now bumpy and there have been many accidents despite metal sheets covering them." "However they found that most other roads around the moat are still in the same condition, with holes and potholes in them and some left that way without any paving or the placing of barricades." Simple to place a 80cm x 80cm metal plate but didn't? At least negligence was admitted: "the Provincial Electricity Authority, the project owner, to visit them and give compensation as well as ensure the best possible care. They will be fully reimbursed for medical expenses and repair of the motorcycle." But start being consistent about public safety as a PRIORITY.
  6. "reducing unnecessary lighting and power consumption between 8.30pm and 9.30pm Saturday night" What's unnecessary? Were all entertainment, restaurant, movie theater and shopping mall venues shutdown for the hour? Or just largely government facilities? Some public guidance might have been provided prior to Earth Hour to take the exercise seriously.
  7. Which raises the question of why such a high ranking RTP required immediate PM intervention when preliminary investigations implicated BJ in alleged corruption. And why the PM personally assigned a "committee" to further investigate those allegations versus making a referral to the Department of Special Investigations to independently investgate the allegations.
  8. Hypocrisy not enough? Senators only because they were personally appointed by a military coup leadership and insured that a 2023 majority elected government would be substituted by a minority elected government because of their unique political power granted by a military coup written Constitution. Let's see a 100% elected Senate before senators start questioning any government official for alleged elitism.
  9. There is political pressure to ban pot except for medical purposes prescribed by doctors.
  10. My inside house lights have been off since 7am this morning. No ac but a floor fan running.
  11. Be innovative- Use the Royal Rainmaking Airforce to spread cinnamon over the city.
  12. Has Army ISOC pulled out of the South? It has been responsible under decades State of Emergency to safeguard along with its mercenaries all those things identified by the PM.
  13. Maybe that's the issue - they're not.
  14. Does a seeing-eye dog get a seat?
  15. "Thailand collaborates with Sweden and Denmark to fight corruption" I can imagine Sweden and Denmark telling Thailand 'just apply the rule of law equally to everyone' and Thailand responding 'what's the kickback?'
  16. Thailand has been intercepting hundreds of trafficked migrants every year. Send them to Finland if Finland agrees to expense.
  17. Why would thus be "neglect" for House that seems in 'do-nothing mode' apart from the PM himself personally traveling the world for trade agreements. Example, the FY 2025 budget (effective October 1, 2024) has been delayed.
  18. Or the 'I having my period' defense thinking back to that excuse used by a Russian woman who kicked a Thai woman and fined 500 baht.
  19. I am not an attorney but it would seem that classifying as a class action, it becomes a civil case and not a criminal case. Actually fortunate for the executives. There's no reason it can't be both if criminal conspiracy was cited.
  20. No one denies that Thailand exports ice cream. The article is about leading export to Asia. But it confines it to export to southeast Asia. That constraint is likely correct according to your representation (lacking any evidence). But in terms of the whole of Asia, China is likely as having 30% of world exports of ice cream. If the Aisan-Pacific region is defined, Japan would be #2 at 16%. Otherwise worldwide in 2023 top ice cream exporters would be in order from #1: China, US, Germany and Japan. https://wisevoter.com/country-rankings/exports-by-country/
  21. I can see "spooked" (maybe surprised) by discovery of the first of the species, but #54 shouldn't be spooking anyone much less a scientist.
  22. Hardly a record overstay. Wasn't not long ago doneone arrested for a 10-year overstay?
  23. To me it signifies a pivot away from recycling that never seem to be a priority in Thailand.
  24. In Thailand there is a judicial process from transferring custodial obligation of anyone to another individual, even for a spouse of legal age. Nowhere in this article do I see mention of legal change of guardianship. Alleged consent by parents by itself is not legal.
  25. As I recall, the Prayut government in 2016 vowed to put all power, telecom and other kinds of cable lines underground after criticism from American hi-tech billionaire Bill Gates. And here Thailand is after more than a decade later. But in that time billions of baht went to Defence Department among other special PM projects. So it's difficult to believe the current pro-military government coalition is going to achieve such goals any time soon.
