The answer is no. "Civilians found in possession of pepper spray can by law be jailed for up to 10 years and fined as much as Bt1 million. In other words, the penalty is far worse than if you’re caught with illicit drugs or a firearm." "Pepper spray would give us a fighting chance," March 2024 https://www.nationthailand.com/perspective/30303925 from Samsak Lawyer September 2014 "By law there are two types of weapons, (1) weapon by condition eg. knife, gun, etc. (2) weapon by use eg. bat, bottles, stick etc. Batons, knives and pepper spray are considered weapons by condition, if you are caught by one by police you could be fined THB 100 and have it confiscated." http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/762108-concealed-pepper-spray-expandable-batons-and-pocket-knives/ So always carry THB 100? Or the answer is maybe. also from Samsak Lawyer September 2014 "In the case of using it in self defense you can use it if it's against a weapon that is of a more of a more dangerous in nature such as a knife or a gun. Only police and authorised personnel are legally allowed to carry such weapons." Ask your assailant if he's carrying a knife or gun, please display it? Welcome to Thailand.

Oh please. Maybe resolve your own problems at home peacefully in your Southern Muslim provinces instead of decades of subjugation and denial of an indigenous population's ethnicity, customs, language, traditions and religion. -

Police reform may be easier than everyone thinks
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"Police reform may be easier than everyone thinks" But the entire article seems to point towards an impossible path to reform of deeply embedded corruption. Nowhere in the article is suggested any "easy" solutions. And that maybe the real truth. Those who are supposed to enforce the rule of law distort and abuse the rule of law. This destructive culture might stem from decades of military direct and indirect control of the nation punctuated with frequent military coups that defy the rule of law and Thai people's sovereignty.- 41 replies

Female ranger shot dead in a market in Narathiwat
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
She was a para-military ranger aka mercenary paid by the Thai military Internal Security Operstions Command (ISOC) to hunt Malay Muslim freedom fighters in the South. It's my impression that ISOC uses these mercenaries to do field patrols to hunt and kill Malay Muslim rebels to minimize exposure of regular Thai military outside of their secure posts. ISOC for decades has maintained the military's State of Emergency in the Southern provinces that deprives resident Malay Muslims constitutional rights. Nowhere outside of the South is there a SOE. Yes, her execution was unfortunate but not surprising. -
Does RTP have tasers, never seen them using the device? Instead the officers in the video seem outclassed fighting the Russian who himself is flaying away.

Taliban leader says women will be stoned to death in public

I'm sure that POTUS Trump who gave the Taliban a gateway to ruling the country unopposed by the US will appreciate stoning women. -

But none of the recommendations promote "Thainess." Nothing says Thainess like high worker rates on the job deaths. -
Foreign woman criticised for urinating on Bangla Road, Phuket

But the article talks about the roadside. Picture shows sidewalk next to road. Footpaths tend to be a little more private. Not that it really matters. The issue is lack of public toilets, especially areas where alcohol is served into the next morning. -

As well as Australia's economy relative to Brexit, same trade restraints to EU, for obvious reasons. -
Barred from Europe: 2.4m Brits caught in post-Brexit passport chaos
Srikcir replied to Social Media's topic in World News
To be "barred" is to be "blocked" from entrance. So yes, without proper passports Brits are barred. Maybe you meant "banned" which Brits are not as there is a means of entry, ie., with a proper passport. -

PM Srettha: Legalise casinos to save Thailand’s economy
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"Legalise casinos to save Thailand’s economy" It saved economies for small sovereign, autonomous and semi-autonomous areas like Native American tribes, Monaco and regional areas in Southern Africa. But for a developed and populous nation like Thailand the economy is much more complex, ie., international trade relations. Casinos can more quickly fuel a lagging economy within a relatively short period than FTA's for example, albeit developing strong anti-corruption oversight organizations of Thai casinos might lag. Foreign-based experience should assist to establish such organizations. Thus, legalizing casinos in Thailand will BOOST Thailand's economy in the short term but for a sustainable economy Thailand will need much, much more in international trade to SAVE Thailand's economy. -
Thaksin Has Not Been Seriously Ill At All: Rangsiman

Regarding your health, who would you see - a doctor or a Thai lawmaker? -
Thailand is a net energy importer, primarily LNG. In 2018 its oil-fired plants generated 65% of Thailand‘s electricity while coal-fired plants produced 20%. Nuclear fission is nearly 8,000 times more efficient at producing energy than traditional fossil fuels. I can't see Thailand being capable of replacing most of its 85% energy based solely on alternative renewable energy sources (minimal areas and elevations for adequate winds, large water surfaces, large open spaces). Especially if Thailand wants to be the energy hub of southeast Asia. Nuclear power also aligns with the new government's commitment to the UN to reduce greenhouse gases. I approve this message.

Somewhat tangential to the new tax laws, in my request to a Thai bank to refund a miniscule amount of interest tax withheld from my savings account's miniscule interest income, the bank required same financial information under CRS, including foreign tax revenue information. As you might agree, your foreign tax account information is very potentially vulnerable to data theft, even by Thai bank employees. But I reasoned that giving that data to a Thai bank makes it potentially liable if stolen, ie., under the Personal Data Act. So I asked the bank customer service rep to confirm that it is the bank that I'm giving such data. The response was no, data is collected by a contractor on behalf of the bank. ??? Contractor name I didn't recognize, never heard of before either in Thailand nor internationally. Rep. couldn't provide any detail on the contractor. There was no signed statement by the contractor offered by the bank that it would be responsible for any theft of personal tax information. As my tax refund was very negligible to the negligible amount of savings interest earned, I declined to complete the data form. Note: I don't recall the contractor's name. Furthermore, transfer of my foreign funds to Thailand is not taxable under the new law due to LTR visa under a Royal Proclamation. To assure no automatic withholding on foreign transfers (ie., by its International Trade Deoartment), I sent a certified letter to provencial bank headquarters to that effect with copies of my passport, passbook and visa stamp. Bank never responded to my letter but the government has since clarified what foreign transfers are and are not subject to Thai taxation for foreign residents.

Only need 45 - 5MW turbines open space permitting. Proven Siemens Gamesa technology for onshore wind projects https://www.siemensgamesa.com/en-int/products-and-services/onshore/wind-turbine-sg-5-0-145 If placed too close together you'll get array interference - backwash from one row can block winds for some downstream turbines.
