Who issused the planning permission in the first place and why are they not being prosecuted ?

the mayor of Pattaya then, gave the green light to this mess, who happens to be the brother of the mayor of Pattaya now, both happen to be the sons of the biggest mafia  of Chonburi, who died a while ago. in short, the untouchables!

I wonder if all those so keen on lockdowns will be so enthusiastic when their taxes go up to pay for it.

I don't think there is a soul anywhere happy about the lockdowns. as far as taxes..of course they will be raised and people have to pay..but with what? crime will definitely be out of control soon if not already happening

Keep dreaming they will never be back to the same levels as before Thailand as become to expensive people are heading elsewhere . Tourists are not interested in the land of smiles anymore .

every emporium has its rise and fall. thai sex tourism had its heydays in 80s to 2000s and it just ended. this may or may not have much to do with attitudes towards the foreigners but cheap sex has become a thing of the past in almost any country now, not just in Pats. Maybe the whole industry is changing..who knows! beginning of the year, relatively attractive ones(not "dogs")on filipina dating sites  were asking $200 for a "st" or even per hour ..the unavoidable and dreaded question comes to mind.. "what's the world coming to!?"

tourists themselves tossing rubbish, tourist vehicles spewing pollution into the air and filthy water from tourist operators discharging sewage out into the sea.

This is now over at least for now and the beach vendors are getting happier.

beach vendors wouldn't give a flying #uck about cleanliness if there are no farangs.. They rather walk through raw sewage as long as they make money

there were some Thai tourists and foreign residents at the weekend but during the week it was lovely and quiet.

In the last 15-20 years of visits this was the most beautiful he had ever seen it.

Thon said that everything was shut down by 9pm. The lovely spacious sands were lapped by water that was "clear enough" and there was no plastic waste to be seen.

There were clearly defined smoking areas and a swimming area cordoned off was being utilised by children mostly.

The beach road footpath was wide and shady and well maintained. Most boats in the bay were moored. The views were sensational.

Bars, tour businesses and markets were shuttered and there were just a few hawkers - the Thai tourists had little to buy.

In the city itself there were noticeably fewer song thaews (baht buses) and motorcycle taxis, less noise from horns

    then he woke up!
