  2. If the owner does not have a Thai bank account then are they present in Thailand? If they are not, who is going to register your TM30? If it is going to be you, will you be able to get a signed copy of any necessary documents, such as the owners ID or the condo blue book? Or is the owner able to register your TM30 online? There are so many units for rent I would steer clear of any with obvious issues.
  3. Over 60. Or pregnant. Or suffering from one of the specified illnesses and have a medical certificate as proof.
  4. A work permit is not required. https://medparkhospital.com/page/covid19-vaccine-expatriates/
  5. Eligible foreigners can register directly with Med Park: https://medparkhospital.com/page/covid19-vaccine-expatriates/
  6. Pfizer vaccinations for foreigners started at 8am today at MedPark hospital in Bangkok. I can confirm that hundreds of foreigners have arrived at MedPark to be vaccinated with Pfizer and the process is ongoing as I type this.
  7. Passports are not issued by the British Embassy. Moved to the Home Country forum.
  8. DBD documents are a few hundred baht and come with a receipt. I hope it was not someone within your company that was charging you this much as it is not a good sign. In my opinion a non B extension of stay is one of the most difficult to obtain in terms of the documentation required. In terms of the quantity of documents required your experience is typical.
  9. You do not have to have accounts at different banks. Nobody is forcing you to do this, however: "If a member financial institution’s license is revoked, depositors of that institution will receive their deposits from the Deposit Protection Agency up to the coverage limit. The coverage is based on a per depositor per institution basis (not one account per institution), meaning that depositors with multiple accounts across all branches of that institution will have those deposits - both principal and interest - aggregated into a single amount. The current coverage limit is 5 million baht until 10 August 2021. From 11 August 2021 onward, the coverage limit will be 1 million baht." https://www.dpa.or.th/en/articles/view/protection-limit
  10. Don't tell me I'm wrong when I did not actually make the statement. I posted what the DPA had said in a press statement. Either way the press statement that I referred to, shown here again. You are wrong. You stated, "So it's per account, NOT per depositor." Those were your words, not the words of a quote. Your words were and still are factually incorrect. The previous links in this topic all link to the Bangkok Bank website, not to the Deposit Protection Agency. Bangkok Bank is not the authoritative source in this matter. If you want an authoritative answer please contact the Deposit Protection Agency. The Deposit Protection Agency has not posted any incorrect information. I am completely certain that the Deposit Protection Agency is correct in this matter and that you are incorrect. If you are confused please call the Deposit Protection Agency on 1154 or 1159 and they will further explain matters to you.
  11. The HS code on your document is for a men's T shirt. In a package with mixed contents you will normally be charged the import duty for the highest valued article and that rate will be applied across the entire shipment. Assuming the declared value is correct then the customs treatment of your goods is correct. Items being marked as a gift make no difference to the duty paid. If it did, every shipment would be marked as a gift and no duty world be paid at all.
  12. As above, Vasu. Don't forget your passport.

  15. I have to say that True is a very reputable company and they do not make false claims. On the other hand they do vigorously follow up their accounts receivable. In the first instance, you might consider asking the debt management company for details of exactly why the amount is owed. A company can continue to ask for payment of a time barred case. If the debt is legitimate then it is still owed, even if the matter can not be taken to Court.
  16. You are wrong. Please read the second sentence from this page from the Deposit Protection Agency website: https://www.dpa.or.th/en/articles/view/who-is-protected The DPA website states: "Protection is based on a per depositor per institution basis, meaning that all of an individual’s deposit accounts across all branches of that financial institution will be aggregated into a single amount." As I stated earlier, deposit protection is on a per depositor, per institution basis.

  18. Your children can apply for their NI number here: https://www.apply-national-insurance-number.service.gov.uk/ The website will not work unless they are in the UK (or they use a proxy). This is because the rules state that you need to be in the UK and looking for work in order to be eligible to apply.
  19. Generally speaking, claims for breach of contract in Thailand become time expired after a period of 2 or 5 years. In this matter the statutory limitation on time was more than likely 2 years. Section 193/34 of the Civil and Commercial Code states that: The period of prescription is two years for the following claims: a. Claims of merchants, industrialists, manufacturers, artisans and those who practice industrial arts, for delivery of goods, performance of work and care of others' affairs, including disbursements, unless the service was rendered for the business of the debtor. In this matter the merchant or their assignee would be suing your wife for non-payment for the delivery of goods (provision of an internet service). It is highly likely that their lawyer would not take this matter to Court, no matter what the debt collection agency says. Doing so would cost the merchant or their assignee both time and Court fees, with an extremely high likelihood that the Court would find the matter outside of the period of prescription. It is important to understand that if your wife pays the merchant or their assignee any sum of money at all, even 1 baht, then the debt can come back to life and the 2 year time limit can start all over again from day 1.

  21. Deposit protection is on a per depositor, per institution basis. It doesn't matter how many accounts you have with the same institution, only a maximum of 1 million baht is protected at each institution. However, you could open accounts at multiple institutions. In this way you could have up to 1 million baht protected multiple times.
