  1. There is one already going in the about half way out the Mae Joe Road. He has all the angles figured out and is going to use the dirt he digs out from the pond to make a ski hill. Really Cool.

Interesting, so is this he cable one or the wave pool?

Ski hill w00t.gif , are you serious, like in Dubai?

  2. WHAT A MISTAKE - moving from Kad Suen Kauw to that building site out of town with no parking !!!!!!!!!! Just for the money I guess. I bet attendances will be WAY DOWN. Such a shame; I have attended most evenings of the past 5 or 6 festivals. I will NOT be going there.

I'll take some of that betting action, Ladbrokes?

  3. FlowRider JR is US $395,000

    FlowRider Single is US $595,000

    FlowRider Double is US $795,000

FlowRider Double Wave-In-A-Box (turn-key, self contained) is US $1,100,000

I've got all the brochures and the contacts. PM me if you need something. From what I hear the place in BKK is not too busy. CM might be different.

    Dave

Love the concept but fear it would be "money down the drain" in CNX.

    Murray,

Yup could be a wash, fair chunk of money to lose... i guess worst case scenario it would be a flop, then I could have on in my back yard hahahaha, problem is I live in a condo 555555

  4. I am sure there is much more option that that:

    - lease or buy land, make 0.5 - 1m deep (that is deep enough) hole in it, fill with water (rain water?) and install water system

    - X-Center have a pond like that. They are using it for Zorb Ball I think

    - not many lakes around (they too big anyway), but medium size ponds much more

    - you can even install it on the Ping River somewhere smile.png or canal around moat smile.png

I wonder who or what owns the CM Grand Canyon, that place could be used for so many cool things, but alas there's one restaurant, no apparent rentals of any kind, what a bummer!

    Dave

If BKK is not too busy, but is much bigger city than CM, do you really think CM could be more busy ?

I would rather invest my money in Cable Wakeboard park. Much more fun and easier to learn. People more likely to be coming back. Also installation cheaper. Only problem is you need a lake access.

Here is the link to similar one :

Hmmmm, I know of only one lake that would work, Huay Tung Tao, relatively close, parking etc. But then there's the dreaded Government to deal with, not sure but I think it's a park.

  6. ROI for the ride itself is not sufficient i think.

It's your venue, F&B, turnkey rental of venue for events and activities.

Made in China might be the solution. 1/4 of the price.

I see from their logo that they are covered in TM and patents, but I'm no Lawyer 5555, do you know if they're being made in China?

looking at them it appears that the high cost would be associated with the pumps....

  7. I was expecting more.

Of course you need the venue.

How much do they cost to run monthly, that might be the killer.

One in my backyard would be cool.

Wow, back yard? That would be soooo cool!

Too much money fo me to have one in the back yard, if it was Baht maybe I could do it 55555555 blink.png

Cool David, thanks for the assistance!

  9. Our regular lunch group is between 6 & 16, we do not go there anymore.

    Thanks, Thailand.

And I agree with your and your lunch group's decision.

Okay, so where do you go now? is here some better venue to try, if s please post it!

  10. it will be cool for Chiang Mai to have one but who is willing to pay and get the license to put one there

Yes I have been looking into it since seeing it, I guess there's nothing like it in CM, they are not cheap, matter of fact they are outrageously expensive, but they look like so much fun......w00t.gif

    They are great fun.

700b a pop is not cheap for sure.

How expensive to set up ?

I think with the popularity of this ride, or as they are attempting to sell it as a new sport it may be worth a closer look coffee1.gif

The quotation I got for setup is from 400-800k with installation....

FlowRider products range from 400k to 800k and FlowBarrel from 1m -2 m.

  12. Just heard the rumor that Holiday Inn now charges THB 830 or 840 for Sunday brunch buffet. Is this a misinformation or did they really increase the price by more than 20%?Did anybody go there recently?

THB830,that is correct. ( 15 per cent discount with member card) They did the same thing with the Xmas lunch last year almost doubling the prices from the previous year.

Our regular lunch group is between 6 & 16, we do not go there anymore.

Okay I'll bite - Where is it better, sounds like you have a group thing going on and are in the know?

  13. Like most hotel lunch buffett

There buffets have gone down hill...especially Thanksgiving......cold entrees and poor quality.

Not only Holiday inn most buffets have gone down hill. I can remember when the Grand View buffet was worth a visit as was The Empress. But not nowadays

The Grandview is okay, I went there around a month ago, they have more than 6 months prior, it didn't cost much and was pretty tasty, they have a good variety as well, Ummmm 3 of 5 stars I would rate it. it's easy to park as well....

  14. Now all I have to do is convince my wife to drive me there and back. She has cut my wine consumption to almost zero because of my cholesterol.

All very good but at the price you mention, I can't resist. What is the food like and is the food cost reasonable? If I can con her into going along on the pretext of a "great meal" I might just make it.

    All suggestions welcome!

Murray, a little off topic but I think could be helpful to you, if you want to ease the cholesterol just pre-treat with a 40mg Lipitor....

    Back on topic, they seem to get consistent 4 stars;

  15. I think we'll try the Girasole La Gondola - nothing wrong with Dukes, had their pizza before and it was very good, just think the Girasole setting will be more appropriate and reviews on tripadvisor look very good.

As for "get her some Thai food", wow, that's so romantic thumbsup.gif

Speaking of get her some Thai Food, have you tried the new fish from 7?

"Thai seems to be gaining a reputation as the new food of love. With its both spicy and sensual overtones"

    post-23543-0-93475100-1371272155_thumb.j

  16. You might try Girasole La Gondola right at Pratu Thapae. That should fit your requirements. Not a big garden setting but adequate.

I've been here many times, it's very good, staff speaks English, Ummmmm but don't go around 5-7pm, go later 7-8pm.....

Just curious, what happens at 5-7pm that I need to avoid? smile.png

It's too busy, that area it seems there's a healthy tourist trade during the 5-7pm hours, nothing wrong with that, buy a little taxing on the staff....

  17. It's pretty good at Why Not. I'm from California so I've been sort of spoiled. But for the price it can't be beat. Food and service are good too.

I'm curious, which wine would you recommend (red only)? Traditionally the california wines are great, geez I'm happy enough with Ernest and Julio.....

Also what did you you snack on?

  18. Must have been a wide road laugh.png

Just recetly I saw 3-5 farang girls (country of origin unknown) walking abreast and hogging both the sidewalk and road, they were oblivious to the needs of motorists and other pedestrians! Those evil, Farangs!

cheesy.gif 5555555 Oh yes very wide!

  19. .

Two years ago, everybody said that Maya was limited to 8 floors.

Here is my current view - I am on the 14th floor!

I wish you good luck, but don't count on it...

ps - I triangulated the big units on their roof - less than 35 meters away from my window (about 100 feet!!!)

    .

Wow, you can see the aircon units in great detail, I'll just bet once they start them up you will be able to hear them very well too!

Do you think it will add value to your unit? cheesy.gif

Sold it two weeks ago - done and done. It sold in spite of the AC, and I actually got very close to what I was asking. And in only two days of having it listed.

So laugh at my misfortune as you will - I am out of here, and with a profit!

I bet that if it is fixed up nice, with soundproof windows, it will rent out easily. Viangping is still in one of the best locations around.

    .

    .

I'm happy you got your price++, after they built the Harbour and the Maya I got rid of one too, got the price as well!

Yes it's okay there, my friends are living there, they like it, but I think they are fighting with the owner about something to do with parking.... Anyway...

Maybe the HS gang will get lucky and the price of their own condos will appreciate as well! clap2.gif
