  1. Now you know why I believe all wild dogs should be eaten like cows pigs and chickens To many dog just running the street.

Start a movement to eat them

    I won't join your movement...

However there are many cultures that like to snack and feast on dogs bah.gif , Thai, Tai Yai, Burmese, Vietnam is a multi-ethnic country with over fifty distinct groups (54 are recognized by the Vietnamese government), Cambodian, Filipino, Chinese etc. (who all prefer the black color dog, not sure why)....

I was in Issan not long ago and some guys grabbed the next door farmers dog and BBQ him right then and there, it was not pretty to watch, but they sure enjoyed doing it (killing and skinning) and eating it up.

  2. Tai Yai land is more commonly referred to as the Shan State in northeast Burma. Politically, it is in shambles now, as is the Karen State. It is not a region that is easily accessible other than the larger garrison towns. But there are many local Shan villages in the Lanna region. Perhaps the most accessible is Baan Mok Cham above Thaton situated along the Kok River. It was founded in the early 1960s by, amongst others, the son of Sao Shwe Thaik, the first president of modern independent Burma. There are lots of Shan villages in the Pai and Mae Hong Son areas. There are a few good Shan restaurants in Chiang Mai, search the forum. There is the woman operating a food stall in the market in MHS who all Burmese and Shans make a morning pilgrimage to when visiting MHS for her amazing tofu dishes. But traveling through the Shan State is really not an option apart form a very small number of NGOs or your first name is Bertril.

    Thanks Johpa,

MHS it is, and can drive my car, easy and without hassle, will be sure to check out the food stall as well!

  3. Unless you know you will meet an aggressive dog and will need to defend yourself, I would recommend against carrying a stick/cane. Many soi dogs that would normally just ignore you will growl, bark and maybe even snap at you if you carry anything resembling a stick, because they have had bad experiences with people beating them with sticks.

    Sophon

Great idea, canes are legal, self defence is legal, the cane may well save you from more than dogs, there's bigger and meaner 2 legged animals out there on the streets.....

  4. Tai Yai Land? According to my students Tai Yai is the term Thai people use to refer to the different groups westerners call Hill Tribe people.

You probably misunderstood. (Or they were wrong, but I'm going with the former.)

I think (nope sure) that Tai Yai are Shan ethnic group (Great Tai), most of them don't call themselves Shan.

Shan state used to be a very large country back in the days of old...

  5. Tai Yai Land? According to my students Tai Yai is the term Thai people use to refer to the different groups westerners call Hill Tribe people.

nah, tai yai are shan, sheesh, kids

Where do you want to see it/them? In Myanmar? If in Thailand you'll find most of them in the Mae Hong Son Province, but no Thai Yai villages. If you want more details send me a PM.

I thought it would be good to take a trip there before it changed to much, like before there was a 7/11 on every corner!
So about a week trip if it's possible..
  6. I miss the great parties in Bangkok not so long ago, where people had real fun, clubs were open late without the cops knocking at the door randomly to shut down it.

Where is this little craziness? Sad to see that soi 11 is contaminating other soi and becoming a gross junkyard while there are so many other areas to discover in Bangkok.

Please why wait, enlighten us to the untold wonders that await!!!!

  7. I can think of a couple of bars that are now in competition over who has the best "watching paint dry" party. At one event last week it got round to closing times and they found one of the rather elderly participants, who was being particularly quiet, had actually passed away during the event. Everyone had assumed he was just enjoying himself as much as everyone else. rolleyes.gif

If you really want fun, the weekly Tai Yai lao Khao drinking contests at Kanthieng have hotted up recently.w00t.gif

Please Khun Paagai tell us more, where and when, (who, what and why may be a tad to morbid and disrespectful....

More weekly Tai Yai party goers http://www.chiangmaicitynews.com/news.php?id=472

  8. nope. seems like a strange request though, so I hope you don't mind me asking for what purpose you need to find a bunch of school-boys dressed as pandas. Are you looking for these boys in particular, or would any bunch of boys do?

    Nope, I'm looking for Pandas....

Went to the zoo, the Pandas were no where to be seen, only statues?

  9. Yet an EGAT official said there was no way the transformer fire could have spread from the street to the interior of the disco.

Why was the new lighting system removed from the scene by Tiger employees before the investigators arrived?

Just a shot in the dark......

Ummmm, maybe so the "The Tiger Group’s" shareholders, the same scum that ran the Shark guy outta town didn't get charged with criminal negligence causing death x 4 counts??

  10. The owner/manager Ray (Thai) is the former executive chef at Four Seasons (CM and several other locations.) He and his wife Nui run the (quite small) place and together they do the cooking and serving. The food is very good and prices more than reasonable. I hope they expand in the future.

Disclaimer: They are personal friends of mine. You can make up your own mind if a Four Seasons chef can cook.

Wow, I'm going soon, it looks great.

Four Seasons Chef can cook? Lets see, yup sure can!
