  1. You would think that a Yale undergrad, Harvard Law grad would be smarter than this clown. In all seriousness, I don't get what he thinks his end-game is with his culture-war battles.
  2. Maybe not "legal" but certainly possible... Stoneman Douglas High School shooting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoneman_Douglas_High_School_shooting And more recently... White homeowner accused of shooting Black teen who went to the wrong house in Kansas City will face 2 felony charges, officials announce https://edition.cnn.com/2023/04/17/us/kansas-city-teen-shot-wrong-house/index.html
  3. Another Republican "junk" collector. Is this what Matt Schlapp did?
  4. Twitter is a septic tank since musk bought it. Interesting that "The Twitter Files", initially hyped as "the story of the decade", ended with Mom and Day getting a divorce. About the only productive thing to come out of that hot-mess was reliving Chrissy Tiegen's post about trump, and the GOVERNMENT (aka the trump administration) demanding that her post be removed because it upset trump. Twitter targets its rival Substack, forcing well-known journalists to choose Matt Taibbi, whom Elon Musk solicited to write the ‘Twitter Files,’ says he’ll start using Substack’s new Twitter clone https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/04/07/twitter-substack-taibbi-musk-split/
  5. It is interesting that Gov. DeSantis signed this bill privately and quietly; and announced that late on a Friday evening. Seems weird not to sign this at a big event with a lot of coverage. Seems like he might realize he's out of touch? He'll get shellacked in NH. Top Republican donor sours on Florida governor’s stance on social issues Thomas Peterffy highlights actions of Ron DeSantis on abortion and book banning and warns against courting far-right https://www.ft.com/content/9fa26170-5533-4e0b-a852-238b0ef15118 Ron DeSantis quietly signs Florida's 6-week abortion ban into law The governor had no fanfare around the bill-signing, sending out a news release late in the night. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/ron-desantis-signs-6-week-abortion-ban-law-florida-rcna78989 I do understand that he was away from the state, not campaigning for president, during which time parts of South Florida experienced severe flooding. DeSantis slammed for out-of-state politicking amid Fort Lauderdale flooding TALLAHASSEE — While the heavily Democratic city of Fort Lauderdale was dealing with historic flooding Thursday morning, Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was having breakfast with members of the Summit County, Ohio, Republican Party. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/politics/os-ne-desantis-ohio-fort-lauderdale-timeline-20230414-4xf4jh5u7vb5lmrwwkr5igpqzq-story.html Now he's back to waging war on Walt Disney Corp. because, well, because he's petty, insecure and has little in the way of solutions to real problems facing Americans. DeSantis floats idea of state prison near Disney park Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has floated the idea of building a prison near Disney's Florida theme park. The threat, made smiling, came as he vowed to take new steps to assert state control over the special district that oversees the media giant's property. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-65305166 Maybe get back to the real work of banning books, attacking the vulnerable and relocating immigrants from Texas to Massachussetts? And I do love the Vogue cover of Rhonda Santis, or as the Trump PAC ad calls him, "ole pudding fingers".
  6. SCOTUS would (IMO) say that restricting access to ammunition infringes on the right to keep and bear arms.
  7. Given that we couldn't ratify the ERA there is no way that the Second Amendment would ever be eliminated. That said, I would support the repeal of the PLCAA. https://www.congress.gov/bill/109th-congress/senate-bill/397/text To prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others. <<NOTE: Oct. 26, 2005 - [S. 397]>>
  8. We're well over one mass shooting per day in 2023. This one sounds like it was one heck of a melee, with at least 28 injured. That's the most injured so far this year.
  9. Another shoe drops with the revelation of his wife's real estate trust, and undeclared income. I think it's fair to say that more shoes - think Imelda Marcos - will drop as Justice Thomas seems to have been emboldened to ignore reporting requirements, and he knows that he is untouchable. Watch this space, as they say.
  10. Start of trial delayed by one day, perhaps to allow Dominion more time to investigate things that came up late on Friday. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/start-trial-dominion-lawsuit-fox-news-delayed-rcna79954 Some predict Fox will try to settle prior to the start of the trial, if only to keep Fox News on-air personalities, and various Murdochs, from embarrassing testimony.
  11. Is your wife already registered to use the on-line system? https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn24online/ As long as you return to the same address there is no need to file a "new" TM30.
  12. "Most"? Really? Where did you live? Kabul? All these homes were broken into when someone was at home? And how did these burglers/home invaders know that you were a gun owner? So you have just one flat tire repair kit? And one spare? Why not four, of each, you know, to be prepared?
  13. Agreed, but ~ 25 states have passed some form of "Stand your ground" (which has been extended to anywhere you might be) or "Castle Doctrine" laws.
  14. Of course I didn't "miss it", but that argument carries little sway with SCOTUS and gun nuts. And, by the way the exact wording is A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. And, by the way, most gun nuts argue that the "well-regulated milita" is but a preamble describing the "environment", and not a requirement.
  15. The hyper-eligious right will not be sated with a six-week ban. They want a full and complete ban. And they'll want federal bans on all home medical options. And they'll want to prosecute anyone who travels to another state for a legal abortion, assuming any options remain. (They probably will?) And after that they'll want to ban all sorts of medications, pharmaceuticals and vaccines they find objectionable. And then they'll want to ban contraception. They spent 50 years chasing the car, and caught it with Dobbs. They're not going to rest now. With gerrymandered super-majority state houses, and stacked lifetime Federal judges why would they? They have all the tools necessary.
  16. Why do you want to infringe on my right to keep and bear arms? The Second Amendment does not ban fully auto weapons. The Las Vegas mass shooter used bump stocks on some thirteen of his weapons, allowing him to murder sixty-one persons, and wound a staggering four-hundred and thirteen (at least) persons in a short amount of time. While bump stocks have been banned since ~ 2018, I think that ban is on track to be rescinded eventually by SCOTUS. A U.S. appeals court blocks a ban on rapid-fire 'bump stocks' NEW ORLEANS — A Trump administration ban on bump stocks — devices that enable a shooter to rapidly fire multiple rounds from semi-automatic weapons after an initial trigger pull — was struck down Friday by a federal appeals court in New Orleans. The ban was instituted after a gunman perched in a high-rise hotel using bump stock-equipped weapons massacred dozens of people in Las Vegas in 2017. Gun rights advocates have challenged it in multiple courts. The 13-3 ruling at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of appeals is the latest on the issue, which is likely to be decided at the Supreme Court. https://www.npr.org/2023/01/07/1147698112/bump-stocks-ban-struck-down-court
  17. There are public nude beaches in Florida, where parents can, and do, bring their children. Strange that this hasn't been banned, I mean, you know, to "protect the children".
  18. A Florida Republican who sponsored an anti-drag bill 'can't answer' whether his wife's charity event featuring 'sultry performers' would be criminalized under his own law A Florida Republican couldn't say whether his wife's charity event would flout his anti-drag bill. The wife of Rep. Randy Fine is hosting a gala featuring "sultry performers," and kids have attended in the past. Rep. Fine told Insider that he doesn't believe children should be invited to such events. https://www.businessinsider.com/florida-republicans-wifes-charity-event-flout-anti-drag-law-2023-4
  19. Would be aswesome if you could share which schools in Florida have mandatory drag-show attendance. Same for you. And if you can detail how "they" are "forcing" people to "accept them as normal", that would be awesome too. Florida already has laws protecting children from live, adult-oriented entertainment. This could be why you don't see a lot of kids in Florida's hundreds of strip clubs. As an aside, Florida strip-club owners are lobbying the legislature to lower the age for performers from 21 to 18. CS/HB 1423: Protection of Children GENERAL BILL by State Administration & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee ; Fine ; (CO-INTRODUCERS) Black ; Plakon ; Sirois Protection of Children; Prohibits governmental entity from issuing permit or otherwise authorizing person to conduct performance in violation of certain provisions; authorizes Division of Hotels & Restaurants of DBPR to fine, suspend, or revoke license of any public lodging establishment or public food service establishment if establishment admits child to adult live performance; provides violation constitutes immediate serious danger to public health, safety, or welfare; authorizes division to impose specified fines for violations; specifies division may revoke or suspend license of person found to be maintaining licensed premises that admits child to adult live performance; prohibits person from knowingly admitting child to adult live performance. https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1423/BillText/c1/PDF The larger issue with RHPS would be the audience participation, and not having any men dressed as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. So drag-shows are part of the radical left "agenda"? I honestly was not aware of this factoid. How did you learn about this "agenda"? Can you share more details? This is a bold opinion. Is the "liberal left" the same as the "radical left"? And any examples of this "continuous confusuion"? It is interesting that the radical right-wing is so supportive of the government telling citizens what freedoms are allowed. Not so long ago they would be fighting for less government intervention, and more personal responsibility.. If only we could figure out a way to protect children from the number one cause of death. Hint: it's not drag-show story hour.
  20. Many red states are considering legislation that will prevent women from crossing state lines to get an abortion. Those aiding such travel would also be subject to prosecution. Idaho's governor signed a law this week making it illegal for an adult to transport a minor to get an abortion without their parents' consent, making Idaho the first state to limit interstate travel for abortion, as Republican lawmakers nationwide continue to limit abortion access. https://www.forbes.com/sites/anafaguy/2023/04/06/idaho-becomes-first-state-to-restrict-interstate-travel-for-abortion/?sh=32fa6eed6c50
  21. It wasn't a "snide jab", it was a statement of fact. And I did not say or "infer" Crow was a secret Nazi. Your defense of Crow the collector is admirable, and no, that doesn't infer that you are a secret Nazi.
  22. I would think "Some Like It Hot" would be banned? And "As You Like It"? And all of these TV shows featuring drag competitions should be banned too? It's all about "protecting the children". Yo La Tengo Dress in Drag at Nashville Show to Protest Tennessee’s Law Restricting Drag Performances https://www.billboard.com/music/rock/yo-la-tengo-dress-drag-nashville-show-protest-tennessee-law-drag-performances-1235286414/
  23. Recent polling finds the six-week abortion ban is not popular among Florida residents of either political party. A University of North Florida poll in March found 75% of 1,452 respondents said they either somewhat or strongly opposed the six-week ban. That included 61% of Republicans. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/floridas-legislature-passes-6-week-abortion-ban-rcna78988
