Thai Interior minister hails the arrest of deputy’s son-in-law
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How's that going? Last I heard (BP today) he had completed his "list", with 180 individuals who are "actively" influential, and another 625 individuals who have agreed to reform themselves. Ten provinces are free of influential people. Sounds like corruption has been eliminated. Phew, I feel better. -
Not much meat on the bones from this speech, at least not much in the full article. The usual clap-trap: control inflation with subsidies, more trade agreements, Land Bridge. He's a talker, not a doer. Classic Thai, he just assumes he can bring economic growth into existence if he talks about it enough. Clueless, thank goodness he doesn't have any real power.

This is good news. I don't recall a single report in the last few months where the approval came before day 15. My last successful report in June took three days. My last report (unsuccessful) in September sat in Pending for 16 days before I canceled it and filed in person. Your 12 day report is hopefully a trend that things are returning to normal.

Did/do you have a Visa? Or are you entering Thailand on a 30-day tourist visa extension? The OP has a 60-day Tourist Visa. These are airlines you've also flown on? Which ones? Have you had to utilize this approach? This is a good option, assuming your status allows for no feel award cancellation. I'm not familiar with the SkyMiles terms and conditions. This does not align with family members who have used this service, the reservation code was issued automatically, within a few minutes. Can you elaborate on your experience? Was this recent? You were denied boarding for some number of hours because you did not have proof of onward travel. But then a supervisor determined that you could travel, and had to accommodate you on a different flight(s)?

On/about 21 October 2023 I seem to be unable to utilize the SCB Bill Pay feature within the SCB app. I was able to pay a bill on 20 Oct, I can transfer, pay by QR code, and add value to a prepaid SIM, in other words, most features work. But when I try to pay a bill (AIS Fibre in this case, with a longstanding saved account) I am greeted with the following message... Unable to proceed We cannot process this transaction at the moment OK I can pay this current bill via the Bangkok Bank mobile app. There was a new terms and conditions message on 21 Oct, but I don't see anything in there re: bill pay. Is anyone else experiencing any recent issues with SCB Bill Pay?

Thaksin Had Four Shoulder Incisions: Paetongtarn

And yet you couldn't resist beating your gums too. For the record, I think you mean "flapping your gums". It's a discussion forum. Do we need to explain what that means? -
Report in person, or have a third-party report in person for you? I think lopburi3 was referring to how long this problem has existed at CW, and not that they take three months to reply. I'm hoping this problem will be addressed, no clue why it worked (at CW) so well for ~ 18 months, then BANG! it didn't.

I've seen some figures quoted recently from prison officials. Maybe BP today? Something like 149 inmates got external medical care since October 2022. Probably most went to "donate" organs. Ouch. -

Republicans elect clowns, no surprise that the result is a Circus. -
Winter festival in Thailand to boost tourism through creative events
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you say so. Waiting until closer to departure means you pay more for airfare and hotels. Supply/demand. I'm just wondering how they'll know about these festivals, and if those will incentivize spur-of-the-moment/last-minute travel. Look, I love festivals. Festivals probably generate a ton of domestic travel/consumption. -
Thailand’s prime minister and the colorful history of sock diplomacy

I thought it meant "Tuesday"? Or sincere love, or wishes for good health. (That was why pink was so prevalent as the previous MOnarch's health waned.) -
Are you checking in with DL, or a regional carrier? Your last leg is on KE? Since you do not wish to purchase a legal reservation from Onward Ticket, and seem intent on spending more money, buy a DMK-PNH throwaway on FD. You will likely be rejected at OLCI, or a kiosk at the airport, with the message "See agent". Or wait to see if you are denied boarding at check-in, step out of line, secure a throwaway or Onward Ticket, then check in. I am fairly certain that having a visa will overcome any objections. Systems like Timatic prompt for a visa. So you will not have a problem. HAve you been denied boarding on your previous January - March trips? I assume your ticket is a straight-up RT, USA-BKK-USA over ~ 90 days.

Submarine Deal Won’t Be Scrapped At Expense Of Other Agreements: Suthin
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Minister is posturing for the public who are clamoring for cancellation. I think China has Thailand over a barrel now. Substituting a Frigate now will be costly. Not to mention the investments the RTN has already made in infrastructure to support submarine operations. What an embarassement. Somebody should pay, oh right, the taxpayers. -
Thailand’s New Year public holidays announced
bamnutsak replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm shocked they decided and announced this so early. Usually, they wait until a day or two before. That said, I can see them throwing 2 Jan back in the holiday category closer to the end of the year. -

He looks like a Circus Clown. Brown shoes? And pretty ratty looking. Can you imagine if we showed up at Immigration dressed like that? -
Somebody needs to slap a muzzle on this clown. Work this problem behind closed doors, or better yet, let the professionals (MoFA) handle it.

Thaksin Had Four Shoulder Incisions: Paetongtarn
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's hard to tell given the vague details but I'm guessing this wasn't brain surgery, but rather standard procedure for post-procedure care. Observation after the procedure to make sure that gigantic square noggin is still functioning properly. And a note to the hairdresser that the convict will be back in his room shortly for a hair-dying session. -
That's one of the highest ratios of positive drug testing that I recall. More of a drug problem than an entertainment or opening hours problem? Interesting that the local police were not involved, in the raid I mean. 137 people test positive for drugs after raid at illegal pub in Pathum Thani Raid at an illegal pub in Pathum Thani province early on Sunday found 137 patrons testing positive for drug abuse. The raid was conducted by officials from the Provincial Administration Department and the Office of Narcotics Control Board. The raid of the MEM Exclusive Club on Hathairat Road in Lam Lukka district was led by department director-general Ansit Samphantharat and Arkas Panyaem, a specialist from the board’s Area 1. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40032129

Winter festival in Thailand to boost tourism through creative events
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How can these imaginary and unplanned events "boost tourism"? People have already made their travel plans, so they're coming to Thailand regardless. No tourists are going to wait until next month to hear about events and then book a trip. And this "soft power" thing is getting old. -

Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Surgery? Too much golf or tennis. More elective than life-threatening. -
Thanks for this. Regarding Annuities... Article 20 says: Annuities derived and beneficially owned by a resident of a Contracting State shall be taxable only in that State. While the terms are defined in Article 3: "a Contracting State" and "the other Contracting State" mean the United States or Thailand, as the context requires; If my Annuity is derived in the U.S., is that the Contracting State? Or is Thailand the Contracting State? I infer that Social Security is taxable only in the U.S.? And not taxable in Thailand? Is that correct? Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph 1, social security benefits and other similar public pensions paid by a Contracting State to a resident of the other Contracting State or a citizen of the United States shall be taxable only in the first-mentioned State.
