  1. towards on the high end of the scale is Carlo Italian Restaurant. Then many much more casual pizza pasta places near the Hilton tourist area.

I know where to get a great Spaghetti carbonara out of a cart for 60 baht.

I really think you should come here in June and look around in the evenings. it can be slow.

Yup food here is a tough business. I can get this ฿60 carbonara topped with bacon sitting down as an appetizer before the salmon steak arrives. IMG_5907.jpg

  2. Why not go to the local amphur where you’re trying to get her added to your extension and get married, again?
Just seems like an easy solution although I’m no expert. Just a possible simple solution. Pay a visa company that also does marriages and they drive you around, provide the witnesses, get you through the cues and be done in a few hours.

  3. Boiled down your issue is she’s not engaging in deep conversation, doesn’t swoon or respond the way you expect to you’re affectionate talk, advised you to come only if you can afford it and warned you she’s got three bars to run so she’ll be business as usual when you return I think you’re saying.
Sounds normal to me especially from a bar keep who has likely had and or seen a lot of bar girl/ foreigner relationships.
I’m guessing she needs to be in love with someone for marriage that moves to Thailand, can give her a better financial life than she’s already got going for herself and not jealous that she’s in a business that’s about relationships with men and hustling their money into her pocket.

  4. Driver's licence or not, it will not stop a single person in any village hopping on one of the family's Waves.

Like the 13 year old niece from the village that showed up at our house driving a motorbike we gave the mil and left ownership and insurance in my wife’s name. I immediately demanded my wife move ownership to her mothers name which was begrudgingly done.
A month later the niece borrowed the fil’s motorbike, let a friend drive them around and they crashed with an old mans samlaw. Fil had no insurance so they quietly took the newly minted papers from the mil’s bike and got away with it.
I barely needed to rub it in why it was good that the farangs wife’s name came off the bike if a 60 yr old grandma can’t say no to an unlicensed 13 year old when it comes to borrowing a motorbike.
  5. We could also make the same comment about ol mate who took the pics... [emoji849]

Yes I followed my LOS/TVF survivalist training and stayed calm, not letting my farang White Knight, Captain Save-a-Ho instinct kick in and get myself beaten up by three crazy chicks resulting in deportation.
I’m also pretty sure it’s not my job to settle personal disputes without a work permit because that’s something Thais can do for themselves. At least 20 people chose not to.
It took five minutes of fighting with many onlookers doing nothing before a kind grandpa pulled his samlaw over, asked my wife if they were serious and ended it.
