Thai mobile phone provider wants too much money
Chivas replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
So many providers have plans that are sometimes promotional that carry on for years yet are nowhere to be seen on official websites that are via shortcodes The plan I currently use is 300 Baht inclusive taxes per month but nearest to it on website is 699 Baht on True plus taxes -

bt800,000 Intl. Transfer
Chivas replied to Jaymatheson's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
lol the point is exactly as I descibed Wise can send it around via 10 banks in a circle if they want to because the landing amount wont change 1 satang in the process On the other hand and I quote " The transfer is generally done in 2 days so not much exchange rate occurs either way" Tell that to the Brits after a certain day in June 2016 ! -

Wise can interbank all day it still wont change that fixed amount as per quote the moment you send your Sterling Euro USD to them -

Swift fees for Sterling are fixed and sometimes free as well Lets do a real time example for your USD Wise $20,000 lands in real time at 735,388 Baht If we do a Swift from an American bank (lets say $20 which is more or less what Brits pay in Sterling) So Transfer $19,980.....We have to "assume" the Telegraphic Transfer rate at this point because in the intervening hours/days it could fall or rise. As Wise is fixed once clicked through so its the only valid comparison Bangkok Bank are 36.85 Baht landing Telegraphic Transfer in real time Multiply the 19,980 by 36.85 and we get 736.263 but we have to deduct 500 Baht landing fee leaving net 735,763 Not much in it I agree but Swift as you say with USD comes out 375 Baht better off....hardly a huge victory for Swift but it is a victory I acknowledge If I repeat it now in Sterling Wise now comes out a long way in front ...I was wrong to assume it would be same advantage for USD -

The red flagging is truly exemplary so far.... -
Unfortunately none of the airlines seem to sing from the same hymn sheet over onward tickets Arriving October last year and January this year both on one way tickets neither Etihad or Singapore asked whatsover about onward ticketing nor about the Evisas I had on both occasions ! It would be good if they did sing from the same hymn sheet as people would have more certainty

Because lol there are two pairings to every exchange conversion apart from the USD which as the Worlds reserve currency has direct exchange rate with every worldwide currency Movement in either pairing (for those not holding USD) effects the bottom line

Wrong visa stamp on arrival
Chivas replied to miaclarkson03's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Years ago I had an issue where the IO only stamped me in for 11 days. God knows why but fortunately I looked at the passport whilst waiting for bags. Straight back to desk and he corrected it Ever since as I walk away from IO desk I check that stamp religiously every time -
The maths are simple. 503 Euros wasnt the amount sent

Those referring to the "higher" fees of Wise are oblivious to the fact Wise goes at full interbank rate Doesn't matter what the fees are its the all important bottom line that actually lands in your account Wise will give that better bottom line -
More than a few mentioning exchange rates but that (relatively) poor rate compared to the past is down to the Pound collapsing against the USD in June 2016 on that utterly catastrophic Brexit vote Opposite side of the pairings Dollar/Baht has the Baht the weakest since October last year and rapidly approaching 37 currently

Suvarnabhumi Airport moves up 10 places to 58th in Skytrax ranking
Chivas replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I've always found Suvarnabhumbi very easy to navigate and use. Despite seeing long queues occasional at immigration arriving cant ever remember being in the queues longer than 20 minutes Plenty of food outlets airside and landside -
Dear oh dear utterly....am lost for words ! Referendum won on a pack of lies from the Grifters Johnson Mogg and Co to further enhance their bank balances If the Ref. was re run tomorrow of those that would vote you'd see 90% want an immediate return and only 10% to remain in this catastrophic situation we are currently in Of course unfortunately it will mean adopting the Euro as that was made quite clear when we left but thats a small price to pay

lol the endemic corruption we''ve seen from the Tories for over 14 years is going to be exposed brutally The likes of the Johnson Gove Patel et all need to be very very afraid of when Reeves takes her seat on the front bench post General Election We are at the highest level of taxation for 70 years under your wonderful Tories "undo a lot of the good work" Rock on fella with your delusion

I know (as a Brit) that we can buy coverage when already travelling but I found it was very expensive to say the least when I did a dummy quote I suspect partially because of the high chance of fraud over a claim Inotherwards people say "Ohh I wish I taken out insurance" when they've just been robbed etc etc

People the world over freezing their plumbs off living in cold doorways yet we have people moaning its too hot Thailand should introduce immediate legislation that orders the Weather to be 40c all year round...no night time cooling Uber riff raff

Not trying to wind OP up whatsoever but I've never found Thailand that hot. Of course compared to most home countries it is but not remotely at the levels of Dubai Kuwait etc etc Just stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm if you find it too hot Me I love it the hotter the better
