Just out of curiosity, I hope the catheter is new, or that you insisted on they using a new one... you can get mighty sick trying to get healthy...

Yes they use a new sterile one every time. Thank you.

Natural psyllium husk (powdered or whole) is the best thing.

6-7 grams taken 3 times per day with two glasses of water each time. Will keep you regular without any discomfort to the system. No need for invasive colon cleanses. You should be able to move things naturally 1-2 times a day with psyllium.

Key is never take more than 7 grams at a time, consume enough water each time, and spread out the 3 doses throughout the day. This will avoid clogging and discomfort.

Lots of sellers on Lazada. Price averages out to about 300 Baht for 500 grams. I often mix the powdered and the whole together for a blend.

Avoid all of the ones that mix flavor or sweeteners in. Unnecessary fillers and chemicals. Just buy the pure natural stuff. You will get used to the bland taste. You can also add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and a dash of natural stevia leaf powder to it which will add some benefit and improve the taste. Natural green stevia leaf powder also very inexpensive on Lazada.

Thanks for your information and unfortunately psyllium husk is something that has blocked me up every time I have tried it, and believe me I have tried it loads of times and it is something that is well known with this type of fibre, whereby the fibre just exacerbates the problem, rather than curing it.

Appreciate your post and taking the time to post, although I will add a proviso to this, inasmuch as I have never taken it three times per day, so that is food for thought, thank you.

lack of magnesium in diet is one possible cause of constipation.

eat lots of fruit - include some bananas as they are fairly high in magnesium. coconut water, avocados also high.

and you can consider magnesium citrate supplement, very effective against constipation.

also apples ... pectin in apples may help with digestion and constipation

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated, and I've forgotten about magnesium, as I do have some magnesium tablets which I should take. My bad that I have never really eaten fruit apart from the red juiice from grapes!!

Also thanks for the tip on apple pectin and I'll get onto the Internet to see if I find some here, having said that, pre-and probiotics have also never worked for me although I've tried them on many occasions, but I'll give the apple pectin a go.

Around 1980 when I was working in South London, I was given a medical by BUPA, and also given a barium swallow and enema and it was determined that I had a "low digestive system" and nothing seemed to be able to counteract it.

But I've been my own worst enemy with that, and one thing I did discover here is that liquid sorbitol in a fruit drink really does work wonders in that regard. So thanks for your advice and I will be onto that in short order.

  4. I have often thought of visiting one of these clinics for a colon detox, this especially as I have a terribly slow digestive system and constipation, amongst other things is something I have to live with.

HOWEVER, a week ago I back-flipped off the back of a motorbike taxi on my steep drive and it turns out not only do I have concussion and a badly damaged heel, but I've also broken one of my coccyx vertebrae, which is extremely painful and the swelling interferes with many things in that area, so a visit to the local Phuket Detox clinic almost opposite the main entrance to Bangkok Phuket hospital seemed to be a good choice.

It's a very small place and it has a colonic irrigation machine on the second floor, so I booked a session there and then, and the woman in charge, Mon, was very pleasant and helpful in getting me set up for the session. It was pretty easy although having a catheter like plastic pipe stuck up my bum (but only for a couple of inches) was not that pleasant, probably because of the swelling from my injury, however we went ahead and she did manage to flush out some pebble-sized faeces, which had been there for about five days since my accident, so I was most pleased about that.

I may well make it a fairly regular occurrence due to my slow digestive system, as well as increasing fruit and fibre, along with water. However if anyone else wanted to try this for one reason or another, I can recommend this place.

  6. Sheryl mentioned, "brachytherapy (implantation of radiactive pellets directly into the prostate) having the advantage of doing less damage to healthy tissue and also requiring less hospital visits" although it is possible that the cancer could return, but IMO I would recommend you investigate that procedure.

It is certainly one that I would strongly consider if I were in the same situation.......good luck whatever you decide to do.

I have much enjoyed my stay here in Thailand for the last 3.5 years.  I cannot say that I have enjoyed Thai Immigration.  Seeing as how things with officialdom here, in my experience, can get very arbitrary and capricious I am choosing to not give them a potential crack at my pension(s).  There is just way too much variation between the people sitting across the desk from you.  I'll come back to visit friends as a tourist and enjoy my time but I won't live here again.

I have thought the same since this tax uncertainty started and am wondering where I would go if the tax burden became too much. So may I ask where you would go?? Answer by PM if you wish. Thank you.

But his comment was also accurate.

His comment was not accurate and shame on you for suggesting it, because she was a single woman and she was free to do whatever she wanted – – and may I add, not to get murdered for it.

If she had sex with David, then there would have been a DNA match because semen was found inside her, but there was no match for anyone who was tested! But of course the "powers that be" made sure that none of the semen DNA was tested against the Thai guys.

In addition, the way her body was "displayed" for all to see was a sure sign that whoever killed her wanted to show that he had the power to do that.

I tried smoking it a few times in the UK when I was younger and also in Nigeria, and I couldn't see what other people saw in it because it either made me very hungry, sleepy and sometimes giggly. Not something I took to at all.

Good to know that NordVPN allows BBC iPlayer access. It was on my short-list last year until PureVPN made me an offer that I couldn't refuse.

Very timely post NanLaew, because I tried Nord VPN on BBC iPlayer a couple of nights ago and it was picked up and I wasn't allowed to access iPlayer, despite trying a few times. So it was back to Smart DNS, which I had forgotten to log into!

When I looked at the Nord VPN servers in the UK, it only had one "available" in the north of England, or possibly in Northern Ireland (can't remember now) and that was not working.

All up, having tried quite a few VPNs, including Cyberghost, Express VPN, Nord and Total VPN, I have found that Smart DNS is the best one and the most reliable, with just one or two hiccups in a year, and now it has also included an extra add-on which you can load, called "Smart DNS Proxy VPN" and that's an option which allows you to choose the country into which you want to gain access, although not all countries are listed.

So I'm letting my Nord VPN subscription run out, although it is handy as a backup at the moment, and I'm continuing with Smart DNS.

  11. For the folks who like docos I came across a hidden gem in the BBC iPlayer library called, "How the Wild West was Won" by Ray Mears and thought it was great.......the true story of the migration west, the cattle trails, the Donner Party and the demise of the Buffalo and the cowboy. Also mentioned were the native Indians and the intro of the railways..............and much more.

Fascinating, but hurry if you want to watch it as it is only available for 24 days. I can highly recommend it.

Can anyone recommend an electric shaver that I could buy online . I do not want an unknown cheap shaver . Years since I used one . The last one was a Philips with 3 cutters but I never got a close shave or anything like a wet razor shave . Is that possible now ?

I'm sorry to say that in my opinion, no electric shaver will give you a shave close to a wet razor!

I have tried two models of the Philips rotary-head shavers and even the most expensive one brought me out in a rash, so I've converted back to my Braun electric shaver which is altogether the best one for me at the moment.

As an aside, you may wish to consider applying a pre-electric talc before you use an electric shaver.
