  1. The suicide by 'cutting own throat' before this one, I read a study. It's supposed to be very rare and characterized by jagged failed first attempts to do it.
  2. Fake snake and laser pens haven't been said to fail so far. Anyone tried these? I used to do work at a college campus and they just resorted to allowing a guy to hunt them with a pellet gun on certain Sundays. Nothing worked I guess.
  3. Is there a recommendation for a Tax specialist in Pattaya familiar with USA IRS, FBAR and amending past returns?
  4. When I moved to the place you helped me with nobody knew what a TM.30 was. Not the owner or the Canadian/German property manager. I had to prove it. But I needed it just to get a license and buy a car, let alone immigration! Things changed.
  5. Yes. My wife handles all the cashier interactions. Makes it seem like the Farang isn't her cash cow and she's in charge of financial dealings. Communication is easier too. No problem.
  6. I go to lots of meetings, help new people, be of service and work the steps out of the big book and 12x12. I have a desire to stop drinking still, so I do it. ????
  7. ???? You just described me to a tee! It works for me. I'm 38 years sober, never went to treatment and never slipped. I have a good life and a great marriage. Think I'll keep stumbling along like this today too. Not sure I believe I have any considerable knowledge though, "so called" or otherwise. I just know how to not drink for a long time and have a serene fulfilling life. I do admire the people deep into the literature, hat tip!
  8. Understood, thank you! I just hadn't come across that yet. I assumed wrongly that her oncologist in Bangkok would be able to help and it really wasn't explained like you just did. Thanks again.
  9. People in the USA hate building inspectors. They have no idea that inspectors are protecting them from, well...
  10. Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) for ER+ breast cancer; I was shocked we couldn't get a refill on Samui. Her Bangkok oncologist at Vejthani required us to fly in for a refill and would not, or could not, assist us in getting his prescription refilled in Samui. She has a prescription from the US and Thailand too. But no Dr on Samui would refill because it's for cancer. They require an oncologist to refill it. There's no oncologist that comes to Samui anymore they all said. Tamoxifen's use for ER+ breast cancer is actually an off-label use. Tamoxifen was approved in 1962 and was a contraceptive. It's on the WHO list. It's not addictive and has a long history of being generally safe. We were so shocked that we gave up our deposit and moved to within driving distance of her oncologist. Also, I didn't trust that flights wouldn't be shut down in case covid spiked again due to a new tourist group from a highly infected covid-naive-population country, with possible variants of concern. Knowing what is sold without prescription here, this refusal to refill in late 2022, NOT PRESCRIBE, was frustrating. It felt like they would allow people to die for an arcane rule.
  11. I agree. It helps if I keep in mind that the Big Book was written by humans. Flawed humans, with only a few years of sobriety and no legacy of experience to draw on. Pg 449, now pg 417, on acceptance is one example of absolutism that was not necessary and not helpful to many. "Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world by mistake" Man's inhumanity to man, and mutagenesis causing cancer in good people - are examples. In my view, a loving god wouldn't do that. It's human free will and randomness imho. For me, I don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. I don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. I take what I need and leave the rest. I tell myself that that writer is free to think as he/she does and if it's too extreme and unreasonable, I let it roll. The point is, for me, I couldn't stop drinking no matter what I did. When I got out of the driver's seat in AA, I did.
  12. Bingo. There are 2 conference approved pamphlets that I ignored for decades but appreciate now; https://www.aa.org/many-paths-spirituality https://www.aa.org/sites/default/files/literature/assets/p-86_theGodWord.pdf I personally know members sober over 40 years and active in AA who are atheist or agnostic. No problem, they just made a decision to use the program or the fellowship as a power greater than themselves. That gets them out of the driver's seat - done! *If someone is promoting their church or quoting religious text, they do not speak for AA. This happened in US meeting in the early 90's and is happening a lot again. Personally, I tend to speak up to inform or remind newcomers that AA is not a religious program.
  13. Fascino will order-in a 20 box of 250mg non UGL - but they want 4,180B or 209B per. They can get it in a day or two.
  14. my US credit union and ira company wont update to international numbers. now my irs firm ended email and secret questions. i'm locked out of my own ira account and it's tax season. amazon is the same btw, i can't get a response to cancel prime. my AIS plan is expensive but wont let me call the US and charge me per minute, but i haven't pushed that yet because i really just want texted OTP capability.
  15. Neither Cheryl nor Hummin were being disrespectful to any product nor poster in this thread imho. They're helpful. What I need are bottles, not glass ampules. They don't even sell filter blunt needles here that I can find yet. Even filter straws would be fine. The best advice is to do research research research. Then see an endocrinologist or TRT specialist. But there are many bodybuilders who know more about TRT than doctors. That said, I saw a TRT doc and got bloodwork every 3 months for years. If one person doesn't shut down permanently DO NOT think that will be your luck too. This is often a lifetime decision if no HCG is available. There may be loss of sexual function too. Just a heads up... so to speak.
  16. Does anyone know if OLT accepts Schedule E - rental house income? I don't mind some busy work, but hate dead-ends!
  17. Thanks skatewash! This is my first year here, big thanks to all. I'm retired too, just pensions, soc sec, and a rental house in the US for income - and tiny bank interest. No work or investment income, no state income tax requirement. I use a Registered Agent for my rental house. I use their address for double LLC privacy veil to prevent malicious lawsuits. It may be possible to use that address for my taxes but it isn't my residence and mail-forwarding is expensive. I have 2 Bangkok Bank accounts and not sure what to do there yet. I'll try the FBAR Online when I gather records. Chrome causes me some concern and don't use it yet. Maybe soon though.
  18. Yes, as an aside: I was just trying to fill out a FBAR Report 114 PDF on Firefox with VPN paused... and the drop downs didn't work. It required a "city" and "state" too. So, my Thai address won't work. Thanks for all the great suggestions folks! I like TurboTax but read they don't support expat taxes. I do have a Registered Agent address but mail forwarding is expensive. My state has no income tax so it's possible. H&R Block just started their expat-specific version but haven't heard any reviews.
  19. I'm getting nervous. I tried to change my address on my SS profile and got this; "If you have a foreign address, you will not be able to make changes to your address online. Please contact the Federal Benefits Unit for your country of residence if you live outside the U.S. or a U.S. territory." 1) Where is the 'Federal Benefits Unit' for Thailand? I use my US Registered Agent's address in my SS profile for real estate LLC protection (anonymity). 2) Can I leave it that way and continue deposits into my US bank?
  20. Thanks biervoormij. It's good to hear TurboTax works for our situation - I don't want it to miss anything because I probably would! It must pick up on a foreign address and omit the ACA tax penalty question. In my case, since I kept our health insurance active for my wife, I guess I'll pay this last month. My state's program wants me to re-up in November, so I will and then cancel for January 2023. I made notes on the info on this thread, very helpful. ????
  21. Thanks voormij, I did see that but I was looking for something post 2018. I couldn't find anything definitive for 2021/22 and beyond. I saw somewhere that the penalty was still there but the dollar amount was set at $0. Knowing politics I figure that can change!
  22. "hedge funds will be pumping this worthless crypto to the moon" Billionaire hedge fund managers disagree; Ray Dalio, Jeremy Grantham, Warren Buffet, Charley Munger, etc. Also, The irony of fiat currency critics recommending crypto is not lost on me. I love blockchain and some of the potential independence it represents. But until I can safely buy milk at 7-11 with it... I can't take crypto seriously.
  23. Thanks Etaoin. I'll look into non-US whole life insurance US tax requirements. As part of my medical insurance AIA did required me to get 100K Baht life insurance for 6,419B per year. I didn't know why they required me to sign a W9 when they were never going to pay me a life insurance benefit... my wife maybe but not yet! They didn't ask my wife (beneficiary) to sign. AIS repeatedly tried to make me sign an IRS tax doc for corporations that said right at the top; NOT TO BE USED FOR INDIVIDUALS. Kasikorn Bank did the same thing but they refused to acknowledge I am not a corporation. I assume many Americans just sign because I was the first to resist each time.
